Field experiments for Conservation damage on selected spots were carried out prior to direct conservation treatments for Bangudae Petroglyphs in Ulsan. It was found that there is a big difference in treatment effects according to the treatment technique and application rather than on the treatment material use. Based on the results of this study, a plan for the conservation treatment of Bangudae Petroglyphs will be suggested by providing new materials and application techniques for cracks, adhesive application and consolidation by conducting artificial weathering tests and continued monitoring.

It is used for the epoxy resin, a mixture of various fillers conservation of cracks of the stone cultural heritage. Such as conservation treatment is need to for long-term conservation. However, field research and experiments on the conservation treatment results when included 54 cases of talc filler was confirmed that the damage, such as discoloration and cracks. The field research is talc was used to determine whether the reports and conservator interviews conducted, microscopy, ICP analysis of the samples collected from the field site. Experiments is color difference measurement and Ultrasonic measurement were arried out, and artificial weathering tests to investigate the effect of talc. As a result, lower the property of matter of the samples containing the talc. Therefore, we propose that the selection process is not allowed to use talc as the filler of stone powder filler cracks is conservation treatment.
In this paper, conservation treatment processes for the wooden furniture in the Presidential Archives are introduced. Conservation treatment strategies for modern wooden cultural heritage have been increasingly studied. The current study uses materials similar to those used by the existing conservation treatment method. Material analysis showed that the chair(Lee136-2) and desk(Yun37) in the Presidential Archives are made of Dipterocarpaceae, and both are coated with two layers of varnishing. FT-IR analysis showed that the varnish has a similar spectrum to that of a nitrocellulose-based lacquer(Lee136-2) and top coat(Yun37) and confirmed that a synthetic material was used. Pollutants had adhered to the surface of the wooden furniture and it was also in structurally unstable condition because of cracks and damage to the varnish and wood. Therefore, a conservation treatment was carried out to restore the damaged areas to their original appearance using similar kinds of materials, based on data obtained by materials analysis.
Conservation treatment of metallic artifacts contaminated with corrosion and foreign substances requires changes in the shape, characteristics, weight and thickness of the artifacts. Thus far, recording the changes after conservation treatment has mainly been performed through visual observation and photography, which lacks any quantitative description of the changes. In this study, the processes of removing foreign substances, joining cracks, and restoring an affected area were recorded using 3D scanning and then quantitatively analyzed to identify changes in form due to conservation treatment. The volume change after the conservation process was calculated based on the results of the 3D scanning, and numerical data on the changes to the form was analyzed. It was revealed that the foreign or corroded substances removed after the conservation accounted for 18.1 cm3, which is approximately 52% of the total volume of the ring pommel, and those substances were removed from about 98% of the surface of the ring pommel. This study confirmed that 3D form analysis was useful for recording the processes of conservation treatment and analyzing the results. It is therefore believed that this methodology can be applicable to not only metal artifacts, but to cultural heritage items in a range of materials.
Being entrusted with the conservation of Kyongju National Museum, the conservators did a conservation treatment on the iron helmet found in the wooden coffin excavated from No. 35 Tomb in Ga-Zone, Okseong-ri, Pohang, Kyongbuk Province. They reported their work ranging from the collection of and conservation treatment on the artifacts found at the excavation site to the restoration of them to the originals.
Iron objects become corroded at fast speed from the moment when they are excavated, so it is needed to control corrosion through processes of conservation treatment. However, re-corrosion mostly takes place in excavate iron objects, although they have already gone through the process of conservation treatment, and it is more difficult to carry out the second conservation treatment of re-corroded excavated iron objects than the first conservation treatment, and it requires a longer period of time to treat them as well. In this study, aims to discover factors of re-corrosion by scientifically analyzing corrosion products generated during the process of storage after the process of conservation treatment. The finished on conservation treatment of the iron artifacts, which were unearthed from three ancient site in Gyeongju by using the same conservation method between 2002 and 2009, re-corrosion condition observed on the packaging-iron artifacts. Focused on 9 target forged iron artifacts among them, this study analyzed the physical changes by mass measurement, naked-eye and microscopic observations and the chemical changes by SEM-EDS, XRD, IC and ICP analysis. The results show that the yellowish brown corrosion products formed on the facing surface of part dropped from the artifacts had different associated forms but acicular shape. In addition, the acicular shape became clearer as the color changed from red to yellowish brown. According to the process when the conservation treatment was completed, the mass of the artifacts increased in proportion to the corrosion products and the chloride ion ($Cl^-$) concentration had a tendency to increase relatively. ${\beta}$-FeOOH (akaganeite) was confirmed in the XRD analysis for the corrosion products of all the collected samples. As a result of ICP analysis, $Na^+$ and $Ca^{2+}$ components were confirmed.

Paper relics, which are made of natural ingredients, are more likely to be damaged by a compendium of complicated causes (e.g., physical, chemical, and biological causes) rather than by a sole cause. In December 2009, Culture Heritage Conservation Science Center discovered several damages in paper relics related to Chungmugong Yi Sunsin, and requested for conservation treatment from the Hyeonchungsa Shrine office. By conducting a comprehensive research to determine the damage level of each artifact, the center was able to establish a proper conservation method, and for two years after its completion of such research in 2010, it has been conducting treatment. This study suggests the proper ways to select adequate conservation treatment based on the type of paper relics - Documents and Books - through the case of artifacts related to Chungmugong Yi, Sunsin. Even though the conservation treatment on paper relics can suppress damaging speed and prevent another damages, it is impossible to stop aging process of relics. Therefore regular inspection is essential for prevent second damage.
