A Qualitative Research on Library Education and Cultural Programs for Students with Physical Disability (지체장애인의 공공도서관 이용 활성화를 위한 교육 및 문화 프로그램에 대한 질적 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to provide practical support methods of the library education and cultural programs for people with physical disabilities through the qualitative investigation. To collect data, focus group and individual interviews were conducted. Fourteen people with physical disabilities and six parents were interviewed. From the qualitative analysis, three themes and thirteen subthemes were emerged: (1) cognition about library, (2) difficulties of using the library, (3) support methods for activating library use. Finally, discussions, implications and future directions of library education and cultural programs for people with physical disabilities were presented based on the results of the study. We expect that this research can serve as a basis for further effort to develop library education and cultural programs suited for the unique needs of people with physical disabilities.

  • 지식정보화 시대에서 정보는 사회적 부를 창출하는 수단이며 그 자체로서 가치를 지니기도 한다. 하지만 사회적 약자인 장애인들은 정보접근과 활용에서 소외되고 있다. 이를 해결하기 위해 웹접근성을 향상시키는 것이 중요한 문제이다. 이에 본 논문에서는 웹접근성의 의미와 u-러닝의 의미, 그리고 u-러닝이 주는 학습적 효과를 알아보고 u-러닝 콘텐츠에 웹접근성을 향상시켰을 때 얻을 수 있는 이점에 대해 알아보고자 하며, 장애인의 웹접근성을 향상시키는 u-러닝 콘텐츠를 개발하는 데 목적이 있다. 본 연구에서는 다음과 같은 제안을 한다. 첫째, 시작장애인을 위한 보조기능이 존재해야 한다. 둘째, u-러닝 콘텐츠의 색채구성에 유의해야 한다. 셋째, 청각장애인을 위한 서비스를 제공해야 한다. 넷째, 장애인에게 적절한 모바일 기기를 선택해야 한다.

  • 최근 사회적으로 이슈가 되고 있는 소셜 네트워크 서비스 활용하는 시각 장애인의 수가 점차 증가하고 있으나, 시각 장애인들에 대한 배려 및 접근성은 낙제 수준에 머물고 있다. 이는 보편적인 활용성의 측면보다는 일반인만을 대상으로 제작된 것으로 시각장애인이 원활하게 이용하기에 어려움이 존재한다. 본 논문에서는 시각장애인의 SNS 활용을 지원하기 위한 SNS 관리 시스템을 설계하고 구현한다. 제안하는 시스템은 현재 가장 많은 활용도를 보이는 세 개의 SNS의 공통 특성 분석을 통한 통합 포스팅 관리 및 포스팅 공유 기능을 제공하여 개별 관리 도구 개발에서 발생하는 개발 비용을 감소시키는 것이 가능하다. 또한, 수집 데이터를 시각 장애인의 특성을 고려한 인터페이스로 제공함으로써 시각 장애인의 활용성을 극대화 하였다. 뿐만 아니라, 제안하는 시스템은 독립적인 프로그램의 형태로 제공되기 때문에, 기존의 시각 장애인이 보유하고 있는 보조 기기에 탑재하여 활용하는 것이 가능하다.

High-linearity enhancement of optical transmitter using optoelectronic predistortion method (광전자 프리디스토션 기법을 적용한 광 송신기의 높은 선형성 향상 특성)

  • 최근 통신시스템과 핸드폰, PDA등의 통신기기들의 발전에 따라 사용자들은 높은 데이터 전송률과 고속의 통신서비스를 요구하고 있다. 이러한 상황에서 유 무선 통합 시스템인 Radio-over-Fiber(RoF) 시스템은 그 대안으로 대두되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 광전자소자를 선 왜곡 방식에 적용하여 광 송신기의 선형성을 향상시키는 방법을 제안하였다. 선 왜곡 방식은 두 개의 루프로 구성되어 있으며, 광 부품인 레이저 다이오드와 포토 다이오드 그리고 RF 부품인 위상변위기, 감쇄기, RF 결합/분배기, RF 증폭기를 사용하였다. 메인 루프에서 주 레이저 다이오드의 비선형성에 의해 발생된 왜곡신호성분은 보조 루프에서 부 레이저 다이오드를 이용하여 추출된 선 왜곡신호에 의해서 제거된다. 제안된 선형화 기법을 적용하여 2.4 GHz에서 선형화 기법을 적용하기 전보다 3차 상호변조 왜곡성분이 약 30dB 향상된 결과를 얻었다.

Prioritization of National R&D Investment Using Estimation Results by CGE Model (CGE모형 추정결과를 이용한 국가 R&D 투자 우선순위 설정)

  • We suggested industry-specific priorities of R&D investment with R&D investment elasticity to GDP calculated from the ripple effect of 28 large-sized industry R&D investment, using a Computable General Equilibrium(CGE) Model. Priority orders apply to only 12 industries, because 16 industries with less than 1% of total investment have been excluded. First, R&D investment elasticity to GDP says that priorities are ordered as Basic metal products, Chemicals, drugs and medicines, Food, beverages and tobacco products, Electronic and electrical equipment, Transportation equipment, Precision instruments, Electrictity, gas, steam and water supply, General machinery and equipment, Communications and broadcasting, Construction, Other services, and Real estate and business services. These priorities show the status quo of Korean industry structures well. The GDP growth rate to 2030 year reference equilibrium, which is an auxiliary index, says a similar priority to results from R&D investment elasticity to GDP. In the end, two criteria of priority order can be functioned as a good index for National Science and Technology Commission deciding what industry to invest and what budget to allocate.

  • Augmentative and alternative communication(AAC) is a communication tool for those with impairments or restrictions on the production or comprehension of spoken language. Traditional AAC has used a portable board with pictures and texts with which disabled person could be supported by it. Currently, smart phone based AAC researches and developments are actively studying. With emerging concepts of context-aware computing, the mobile devices can provide mobile users with timely information and location based services. We proposed a adjustable AAC system for disabled people of which has variable layouts and selectable items. We also implemented context-ware application for AAC systems including time, location and click count informations on smart phone. The system can adaptively change its layout and select AAC items depending on various situation of disabled persons.

  • It comes into the spotlight as the new Blue Ocean in which the connected car industry in which the car and mobile communication technology is convergence. All sorts of infortainments services connecting with the portable electronic device(Smart phone, tablet PC, and MP3 player) and car are rapidly grown. The Connected car emphasizes the vehicle connectivity with the concept that the car has communication with the around on a real time basis and it provides the safety and expedience to the operator and using the thing of Internet (IoT) in the car and supports the application, presently, the entertainment service including the real-time Navigation, parking assistant function, not only the remote vehicle control and management service but also Email, multimedia streaming service, SNS and with the platform. Intelligent vehicle network is studied as the kind according to MANET(Mobile Ad Hoc Network) for the safety operation of the cars of the road and improving the efficiency of the driving.

  • Recently, according to demands for a mobility right of people with disabilities, the use of powered mobility device has been rapidly increased and recharging facilities have been set up in many places of country. But the standards for the installation and management of the facilities are not clear and many problems are brought up in operating the facilities. Therefore, regulations and realities of recharging facilities were investigated and the user survey was progressed. On the basis of the research results, a rational and efficient installation and management plan was drawn up. The plan suggests that the recharging facilities should be installed in a building managed by government and many kinds of public building like library, theater, sports facilities, department store, museum, etc. Further, the recharging facilities should secure independent place which have specified area for protecting of privacy and provide some amenities for people with disabilities to enhance the conveniences.

  • Recently, trends in new transportation system development have been primarily focused on sustainable and ecofriendly mobility solutions. The personal rapid transit (PRT) system has been considered a promising candidate in this category; its competitiveness is being improved through convergence with cutting-edge electric vehicle (EV) technologies. However, battery-powered vehicles pose difficult technical challenges in attempts to achieve reliable and efficient operation. In this study, a design approach for a solar-power assisted PRT system is presented with small-scale demonstrations aimed at circumventing challenges facing its adoption, as well as helping speed the transition to electric-powered ground transportation. From the results, it is expected that flexible photovoltaic (PV) cells will be able to supply 11% of the power required by the service equipment installed in a prototype vehicle. In particular, flexible photovoltaic (PV) cells are advantageous in terms of cost, weight, and design considerations. Most importantly, the cells' flexibility and attach-ability are expected to give them great potential for extended application in various areas.
