Design and Implementation of Mobile Phone Interface Module for DGPS Correction Message Transmission (DGPS 보정신호 전송을 위한 휴대전화 인터페이스 모듈의 설계 및 구현)

  • The conventional RTK-GPS technique has many problems which are permission using RF wireless modem, influence of geographic obstacle using radio wave, frequency interference, finiteness of frequency resources. To solve these problems, in this paper, we designed the DGPS correction message transmission system as a method to substitute the RF wireless modem of RTK-DGPS receiver. Then the interface module was designed and implemented for linkage of GPS receiver and mobile phone. As a result worked differential surveying using receiving correction message using RS-232C and communication control, users of mobile station were worked differential surveying correction between mobile phones. Interface module system was received the same result of precision which was compared RF wireless modem system.

A study on the optimal geometrical placement of eLoran stations in Korea (eLoran 송신국 배치 최적화 방안 연구)

  • In the eLoran navigation system, the dominant deterioration factors of navigation accuracy are the TOA measurement errors on user receiver and the GDOP between the receiver and the transmitters. But if the ASF data measured at dLoran reference station are provided for users through the Loran data channel, it will be possible to correct the TOA measurement errors. The position accuracy can be determined by the DOP depending on the geometry of receiver-transmitters, and their optimal placement improves the navigation accuracy. In this study we determined the geometric placement in case of up to six stations, and evaluated the performance of position accuracy for the receiver-transmitter geometry set of eLoran stations. The proposed geometry of eLoran stations can be referred for the construction of eLoran infrastructure meeting the capability of HEA for maritime, and time/frequency users in Korea.

  • The Satellite Based Augmentation System (SBAS) broadcasts to users integrity and correction information for Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) such as GPS and GLONASS using geostationary orbit (GEO) satellites. In accordance with the recommendation of the International Civilian Aeronautical Organization (ICAO) to introduce SBAS until 2025, a Korean SBAS system development / construction project is underway with the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs. Korea Augmentation Satellite System (KASS) is a high precision GPS correction system which is composed of KASS Reference Station (KRS), KASS Processing Station (KPS), KASS Uplink Station (KUS), KASS Control Station (KCS) and GEO satellites. In this paper, we provided the conceptual design of the KASS uplink station, which is composed of the Signal Generator Section (SGS) and the Radio-Frequency Section (RFS), and interface between the KASS ground sector and the GEO satellite.

Measurement of Reference Phase Offset for the Loran-C Transmitting Signal of Pohang (포항 로란-C 송신 신호의 기준위상 오프셋 측정)

  • In order to establish eLoran (enhanced Long Range Navigation) system, it needs the advancement of receiver, transmitter, data channel addition for Loran information, differential Loran sites for compensating Loran-c signal and ASFs (Additional Secondary Factors) database, etc. In addition, the precise synchronization of transmitting station to the UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) is essential if Loran delivers the high absolute accuracy of navigation demanded for maritime harbor entrance. For better timing synchronization to the UTC among transmitting stations, it is necessary to measure and monitor the transmission delay of the station, and the correction information of the transmitting station should be provided to the user's receivers. In this paper we presented the measurement method of absolute delay of Pohang Loran transmitting station and developed a time delay measurement system and a phase monitoring system for Loran station. We achieved -2.23 us as a result of the absolute phase delay of Pohang station and the drift of Loran pulse of the station was measured about 0.3 us for a month period. Therefore it is necessary to measure the delay offset of transmitting station and to compensate the drift of the Loran signal for the high accuracy application of PNT (Positioning, Navigation and Timing).

Development of Value-added Product Generation Software from Satellite Imagery: 'Valadd-Pro' (고부가 정보 추출을 위한 위성 영상 처리 소프트웨어의 개발: '발라드-프로')

  • To extract value-added products from satellite images for the benefit of science and human life, the Satellite Technology Research Center at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology has developed an integrated software 'Valadd-Pro'. In this paper, the 'Valadd-Pro' software is briefly introduced and its main components such as geometric correction, ortho correction and digital elevation model extraction are described. The performances of the 'Valadd-Pro' was assessed on $60km{\times}60km$ SPOT panchromatic images using ground control points from GPS measurements. Also, the height accuracy was measured by comparing our results with the $DTEDs^3$ produced by USGS and the DEM generated from the digitized countours of maps produced by the National Geographic Institute. In geometric correction, the 'Valadd-Pro' software needed fewer ground control points than a commercial software 'P' for the satisfactory results. In ortho correction, the 'Valadd-Pro' software show the similar performance to a commercial software 'P'. In digital elevation model extraction, the 'Valadd-Pro' software is two times more accurate and four times faster than a commercial software 'P'.

  • A variety of location-based services applications, such as missing children search, emergency rescue requests and so on that requiring high-precision location information are increasing. Precision of GPS that can be used in most systems, however, is still low. In this paper, we design and propose a low cost differential global positioning system(DGPS) based on Web services using object-oriented modeling technique which can offer useable location service, variety device and safe service in wireless environment. The proposed system is designed with UML based on object-oriented modeling to maximize system recyclability and system scalability. In addition, we would like to improve the precision of the GPS in accordance with mobile station location when build low cost mobile station, location differential framework and server. We implement a communication interface based on web-service which is available in the form of a variety of services and can offer stable according to mobile environments. Finally, as performance evaluation results, we can obtain precision location within 1 ~ 2m through proposed system and 88.5% probability of less than 2m.

  • In this paper, we proposed a algorithm and an operation boundary for fault detection of a onboard GNSS receiver. After aircraft exchange corrections computed by an aircraft receiver, a faulty aircraft receiver is detected by checking consistency of correction. For this purpose, PRC residual is used as the test statistic for fault detection of the onboard GNSS receiver. And operation boundaries are set by using DGPS position error increase with respect to the distance from a reference station. If the fault detection is performed by using aircraft only in operation boundary, the more accurate fault detection can be possible.

  • Recently, for appling to industrial engines to CRDI diesel engine to meet enhanced emission regulatory standards in native and foreign, ECU that be controlled only automaker develop engine control algorithm that adjust injection timing and injection as user's need and use testing, verification for engine performance and emissions reduction. For development only CRDI diesel engine emulator, using CKP and CMP sensor performance property of CRDI engine control ECU input element, in this paper, there determine the diesel knocking and propose design methodology of engine balance correction algorithm design of the correction algorithm. And there propose efficient Improvement for fuel efficiency increasing and reduction of emissions.

Altitude Estimation Improvement in DGPS using Barometric Altitude Sensors (기압 고도계를 이용한 DGPS 고도측정 향상)

  • DGPS provides less altitude accuracy than horizontal accuracy according to geometric characteristics of GPS satellite arrangement. To assist DGPS altitude measurements, two barometric altitude sensors were used and set up at the mobile and the reference station respectively to get the differential altitude. This differential altitude is coupled with the DGPS altitude measurement by a Kalman filter so that the improved altitude is estimated. The differential altitude is based on the relative altitude measurement but results in providing the absolute altitude. The precision of this differential altitude is verified by experiments in accordance with a baseline length.

  • Differential GPS (DGPS) is known as a positioning method using pseudo range correction (PRC) which is communicating between a refence receiver and moving receivers. In real world, a moving receiver loses communication with the reference receiver, resulting in loss of PRC real-time communication. In this paper, we assume that the transmission of the pseudo range correction isinterrupted in the middle of real-time positioning situations, in which calibration information is received in the DGPS method. Under the disconnected communication, we propose 'predict DGPS' that real-time virtual PRC model which is modeled by a machine learning algorithm with previously acquired PRC data from a reference receiver. To verify predict DGPS method, we compared and analyzed positioning solutions acquired from real PRC and the virtual PRC. In addition, we show that positioning using the DGPS prediction method on a real road can provide an improved positioning solution assuming a scenario in which PRC communication was cut off.
