The analysis on the relations of appraising elements and market prices in ruby being used for jewelry was carried out by using the ruby prices from Palmieri's Market Monitor. As the result, it is understood that weight is the most influential, next is color, clarity is the least influential among these three main appraising elements, and the other relations between the appraising elements and market prices in ruby are also clarified.

Infrared spectroscopy is a powerful tool for gem identification and research. Therefore, this study was focused to a method of the identification of amethyst, citrine, rock quartz and jadeite by the FT-IR. The FT-IR measurement was very effective in judgement of amethyst, citrine and rock quartz whether they are natural and synthetic. And FT-IR was very useful for the distinguishment of the natural jadeite (A-Jade) from wax/polymer-impregnated jadeite (B-Jade). Such technique will be helpful to identify new challenges present by treatments and synthetics.

This paper addresses the correlation between the change of file size and the scanning path build time by the slicing height of STL file. Though the study about STL file has been achieved quite actively scanning path build time using STL file is not investigated so much to be satisfied. The file size depends on the number of polygon created by the slicing height specified. And this number of polygons increases in a regular rate. The correlation between the number of polygons and the scanning path build time is examined and verified.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of tourmaline Gemstone therapy on dysmenorrhea and painful menstruation in middle school female students. Method: This study employed a one-group pretest-posttest design. Data was collected from 15 subjects from September 1 to November 31, 2005. Tourmaline Gemstone therapy was provided once during a peak time of dysmenorrhea and painful menstruation. The instrument used were modified Moos's MDQ(Menstrual Distress Questionnaire) tool and VAS. Data was analyzed with the use SPSS. Result: There was a statistically significant difference in the dysmenorrhea(t=5.50, p=.000) and painful menstruation(t=6.49, p=.000) after the intervention with tourmaline gemstone therapy. Conclusion: Tourmaline Gemstone therapy using a Tourmaline Gemstone therapy has a positive effect on decreasing dysmenorrhea and painful menstruation.

Purpose: This study was carried out to investigate the effect of tourmaline gemstone therapy on relief of dysmenorrhea and menstrual pain of the female university students. Method: A quasi-experimental study was designed. Data were collected from 39 of the Korean female university students (Exp: 26, Cont: 13) from May, 2006 to December, 2006. The collected data were analysed through $x^2$, t-test and Mann-Whitney test. Result: Dysmenorrhea was significantly decreased in the experimental group over that of the control group (p=.001). In addition, menstrual pain was also significantly decreased in the experimental group over that of the control group (p=.000). Conclusion: It was proven that tourmaline gemstone therapy was effective for dysmenorrhea and menstrual pain.

The purpose of this study was to compare motives and tendency of purchasing jewelry between the forties and more than the fifties in middle-aged wives. The data was collected from 460 middle-aged wives living in Busan, from April 1 to May 31 in 2000. The results were as follows：Attitudes toward purchasing showed past-positive, thrifty attitude. Pursuit of beauty had the highest score among the various buying motives. Deficiency of stock and stock dissatisfaction ranked the second. Wives who are more than the fifties showed higher score in motives and preference of buying jewelry than wives in the forties.

It has been difficult to characterize the value of treated sapphires for gem stones with bare eyes. Color enhancing treatments by diffusion and annealing became sophisticated and customers and gemologists had asked a non-destructive and fast characterization method. We suggest that Fourier transformation infra-red (FTIR) offers to characterize the cobalt-doped synthetic sapphires successfully in 3 minutes. Our results imply that FTIR may be employed in jewelry business to identify the treated sapphires in quantitative way.
