Effect of Germination on the Nutritive Value of Barley in Rats (흰쥐에 있어서의 발아(發芽)보리의 영향효과(營養效果))

  • This study was conducted to investigate the nutritional value of germinated barley with animal experiment. Fourthyeight weanling albino rats, which were divided into 8 groups, were fed during 4 weeks. The feed intake, energy intake, FER (feed efficiency ratio) and growth rate were slightly high in the casein supplemented groups and were significantly high in the rice and casein supplemented groups. But there was no a significant difference between the barley and germinated barley groups. A higher PER (protein efficiency ratio) was shown in the rice and casein supplemented groups. It was induced that mixed cereal protein increase the PER compared to simple cereal protein. Low apparent digestibility of the diet and of the protein were found in barley and germinated barley groups compared to standard and rice groups. But apparent digestibility of protein in germinated barley groups were markedly increased by the supplementation of 5% casein or supplementation of rice and casein. From this result it was concluded that germinated barley has a nutritional effect on increasing protein digestibility when added enough amount of animal protein.

Relationships among the Roasting Conditions, Colors and Extractable Solid Content of Roastad Barley (볶음보리의 색도(色度)및 가용성고형분함량(可溶性固形分含量)과 볶음조건(條件)과의 관계(關係))

  • Surface color, water extract color and soluble solids of the roasted barley resulted from the various roasting conditions were determined to establish the optimum roasting conditions. The correlation coefficients between the surface color of the roasted barley and its ground was in the range from 0.957 to 0.994, and which showed the internal color being well represented that of surface of the roasted grain. The degree of roasting was determined maim by the roasting temperature, rather than by the total heat energy input during roasting. The maximum yield of the water soluble solids was 68% and obtained from the barley roasted at $232^{\circ}C$ for 25 minutes. The readings of Y-value of the roasted whole barley was a good index to judge and control the degree of roasting.

녹비작물 재배지 Arbuscular 균근균(AMF) 포자밀도 및 감염율 조사

  • 고추 시설재배지에 녹비작물 재배가 토양의 Arbuscular 균근균(AMF) 포자밀도 및 감염율에 미치는 영향을 구명하고자 보리와 호밀, 헤어리베치, 완두콩을 파종하여 1차 녹비작물 재배 후 토양에 환원하고 고추를 재배한 다음, 2차 녹비작물 재배하여 시설 토양내 Arbuscular 균근균(AMF) 포자밀도 및 감염율을 조사한 결과 AMF포자밀도는 녹비작물 재배지가 대조구보다 높은 경향을 보였다. 기주작물별 AMF활성포자의 밀도는 보리와 완두콩이 호밀, 헤어리베치 그리고 쇠별꽃에 비하여 높았다. 녹비작물의 기주작물별 AMF포자의 형태와 크기는 유의적인 차이가 인정되지 않았다. 녹비작물의 기주 작물별로 뿌리 내 AMF 감염율을 조사한 결과 보리녹비작물에서 감염율이 높았으며 녹비작물의 감염구조는 뿌리내부 균사임이 확인되었고 AMF 균사의 Network도 매우 발달되었다.

Effect of Early Harvest on the Forage Yield, Quality and Regrowth of Italian Ryegrass and Barley Sown in Early Spring (이탈리안 라이그라스와 청보리 춘파 재배에서 조기 수확이 수량과 사료가치 및 재생에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was carried out to determine the forage yield, quality, and regrowth of Italian ryegrass (IRG) and barley sown on 2 March 2009 in Suwon. The five treatments were two IRG cultivars (Kowinearly with early maturity and Kowinmaster with medium maturity), one barley cultivar (Yuyeon), and two mixtures (Kowinearly + Yuyeon and Kowinmaster + Yuyeon). The first harvest date was 26 May, which was at late heading, heading and early dough stage of Kowinearly, Kowinmaster and barley, respectively. Regrowth yield was investigated on 29 June. The heading dates of Kowinearly and Kowinmaster were 16 May and 22 May, respectively, and that of barley was 13 May. The dry matter (DM) percentage were 13.0~18.4% at first harvest, and 22.5~24.8% at regrowth in all treatments. The forage yield of barley and Kowinmaster + Yuyeon mixture at first harvest was higher than that of IRG (p<0.05), but higher regrowth yield was observed in IRG, and then IRG + barley mixtures (p<0.05). The crude protein (CP) content and in vitro DM digestibility (IVDMD) of IRG at first harvest were 16.7~17.1% and 78.3~80.4%, respectively, which were higher than those of barley (CP 12.2% and IVDMD 72.6%) and IRG + barley mixtures. The total yields of DM, CP and digestible DM were high in Kowinmaster + Yuyeon mixture as 11,628 kg, 1,669 kg and 8,457 kg per ha, respectively. In conclusion, spring seeding of IRG + barley mixtures and/or barley were recommended when early harvest. Regrowth of IRG sown in early spring was vigorous. Mixture cultivation of IRG and barley was effective, because of forage yield and stable production, and harvest at June instead of May was desirable for forage productivity of spring sown IRG and barley.

  • The most important factors among extraction conditions in the extraction process of Barley and Casia tora seed are particle size, extraction temperature, time and initial concentration. In this research project, then, the amounts of extracted materials were measured at various conditions of above factors. They were increased as the particle sizes were decreased and were also increased in the proportional to the value of square of temperature. General mathematical prediction models were developed by an optimization technique for the amounts of extracted materials and extraction rate on the basis of each independent factor. Then, the final prediction model was obtained upon all the factors. As the results, it was also found that the values of overall mass transfer coefficients were increased as the particle sizes were decreased.

Study on Quality and Blood Glucose Response of Roll Breads for Diabetes Mellitus (당뇨환자를 위한 롤빵의 품질과 혈당반응에 관한 연구)

  • In order to develop the roll bread for diabetes mellitus patients, the roll bread mixed with soybean and barley flour to wheat flour was prepared and followed investigation of physical properties, sensory evaluation and blood glucose response of subjects. When soybean and barley flour was added more than 30%, hardness of mixed roll bread increased more than two times comparing to wheat flour. The roll bread mixed with 10% soybean flour was same in physical properties but was superior in sensory evaluation to wheat flour. While the blood glucose response after intake of roll bread mixed with soybean flour increased more slowly than that after intake of barley or wheat flour, glycemic index of soybean flour decreased. When roll bread was mixed with 10 to 30% soybean flour. the preference was almost same but control ability of blood glucose has improved comparing to adding barley or wheat alone.

녹비작물과 고추재배에 의한 시설 유기토양 이화학성 변화

  • 시설재배 토양에 녹비작물 재배와 고추재배, 휴경을 반복하면서, 외부 유기자재 투입을 최소화 하고 2년 동안 토양에 물리, 화학성에 변화를 추적하여 궁극적으로 녹비작물을 이용한 유기고추 시설 무경운 재배기술을 개발 하고자 시험을 수행한 결과 1. 고추 시설재배지 녹비작물 재배가 녹비 수량 및 토양 이화학성에 미치는 영향 시설재배지의 겨울 녹비작물을 1월 30일 파종하여 4월 5일에 조사한 결과 수량은 호밀과 보리녹비가 $518{\sim}677kg/10a$로 완두콩과 헤어리베치 $287{\sim}354kg/10a$에 비하여 건물수량이 현저하게 많았다. 녹비작물의 식물체내 총질소 함량이 완두콩과 헤어리베치, 보리가 호밀에 비하여 많았으며, 보리가 타 작물에 비하여 $P_2O_5$, $K_2O$ 함량이 높았고, 두과작물인 완두콩과 헤어리베치가 화본 과인 호밀과 보리녹비에 비하여 CaO과 MgO 함량이 많았다. 녹비작물의 토양중 무기성분 고정량이 화본과인 호밀과 보리녹비의 총질소량은 10a당 $17{\sim}18kg$, $P_2O_5$, 4.7kg, $K_2O$ $31{\sim}33kg$ 수준으로, 두과 녹비작물인 완두콩과 헤어리베치에 비하여 총질소, $P_2O_5$, 양이온인 $K_2O$ 높았으나, CaO과 MgO 고정량은 큰 차가 없었다. 2. 녹비작물 재배 후작 유기재배 고추의 생육 및 수량 겨울 재배 녹비작물을 트렉터로 로터리 작업하여 토양에 환원한 후 홍고추를 2007년 4월 27일 정식하여 조사한 결과 생육에 유의적인 차이를 보이지 않았으나, 고추 수량은 호밀녹비 재배지가 헤어리베치 재배지에 비하여 증수되는 경향을 보였다. 3. 시설재배지 2차 녹비작물 재배 시 녹비수량 및 토양 이화학성 2007년 12월 18일 2차 녹비작물을 파종 재배하여 생육량을 조사한 결과 건물 수량은 10a당 호밀은 720kg, 보리는 528kg, 헤어리베치는 230kg, 완두콩과 잡초는 217kg 수준이었다. 녹비작물 생체중의 일일 증가량은 호밀과 보리는 100kg/10a/day, 헤어리베치는 10a당 65kg 정도가 하루에 증가되었다. 녹비작물의 총질소 고정량은 화본인 보리와 호밀 녹비작물이 두과작물보다 건물수량이 많아서 2배정도 많았고, 인산은 $2.7{\sim}3.7$배, 가리의 고정량은 $2.2{\sim}2.6$배 정도 많았다. 4. 녹비작물 재배 후작 무경운 고추 유기재배의 생육 및 수량 2차 녹비작물 재배 토양에 무경운으로 풋고추를 2008년 4월 1일 정식하여 재배한 결과 녹비작물 종류에 따른 고추의 생육차는 인정되지 않았으나, 고추 수량은 무처리와 보리예취 이용 처리 및 녹비 생산량이 적은 완두콩 재배지에서 많았다. 5. 녹비작물과 고추 유기재배에 따른 시설토양 이화학성의 경시적 변화 비닐온실내의 토양에 무기화학성의 경시적 변화를 추적하여 본 결과 토양 pH는 녹비작물 재배 시 증가되는 경향을 보였으나, 고추재배 후에는 다시 토양 pH가 감소되었다. 토양에 EC는 녹비작물 재배 후 감소되었으나, 고추재배 후에는 다시 토양 EC농도가 증가되었다. 1차 녹비작물 재배 후에는 토양에 증가되었으나, 고추 재배 후에는 유기물함량이 감소되는 경향을 보였다. 토양에 총질소 함량은 녹비작물 2회 재배와 첫 번째 고추재배에서 감소되는 경향을 보였으나 두 번째 고추재배에서 급격한 증가를 보였다. 인산에 함량은 녹비작물재배와 고추 재배 시 미미하지만 공히 감소되는 경향을 보였다. 토양의 양이온 치환용량과 양이온인 토양 K, Ca, Mg함량은 녹비작물과 고추재배 시 감소되는 경향을 보였고, 고추재배에서는 같은 경향을 보였다.

Quality Characteristics of String Cheese Prepared with Barley Sprouts (새싹보리를 첨가한 스트링치즈의 품질 특성)

  • The objective of this study was to evaluate the quality characteristics of string cheese with different concentrations (0, 1, and 2%) of barley sprout (Hordeum vulgare L.) powder. The pH of barley sprout string cheese (6.26) was significantly lower compared to that of the control (6.46). Chromaticity tended to decrease with increasing amounts of barley sprout powder in terms of L* (lightness) and a* (redness), whereas b* (yellowness) tended to increase. In the texture profile analysis, string cheese prepared with barley sprout powder showed higher values of hardness, gumminess, and chewiness but lower value of cohesiveness. The string cheese prepared with barley sprout powder also showed higher values for total amino acids and stretchability. Total polyphenol contents of string cheese showed the highest value when barley sprout powder was 2%. Therefore, addition of barley sprout powder to string cheese can be valuable for improving quality of string cheese.

Effect of Water Table Depth in Different Soil Texture on Quality of Barley and Wheat Grain (토성별 지하수위가 밀, 보리의 품질에 미치는 영향)

  • This experiment was performed to characterize the optimum water table level for the grain quality, seed germination and diastic power of barley(var. Olbori) and wheat(var. Grumil). Olbori and Grumil grew in the 550 liter plastic pot that filled with silt loam or sandy loam. During the whole growth period, the underground water level adjusted to be 20, 30, 40, 50 and 70cm. Filled grain ratio and specific gravity were not affected by soil texture and water table. Low level of water table caused the increase of 1,000 grain weight in wheat and barley, but soil texture didn't. Crude protein content tended to be high as the water table level was high, especially in wheat. Change in crude protein content was affected by underground water level more than soil texture. And the affection was slightly higher in sandy loam than silt loam, but the difference was small. The higher level of water table led to the lower crude lipid content in barley and wheat grain. Crude lipid content of both wheat and barley grain grown in sandy loam was higher than those grown in silt loam. As the water table level down, the ash content of barley and wheat grain tend to increase, especially in sandy loam. Wheat flour yield was not affected by soil texture. It was about 65% at 20cm of water level and above 67% at 40cm water level. The seed germination of wheat and barley was more than 95% when the seeds were placed at 2$0^{\circ}C$ for three days. Regardless of soil texture, the lowest germination was seen at 20cm of water table level. And the seed germination rate increased as the underground water level became low. Above 89% of barley grains were germinated within 48 hours except 20cm level of water table in sandy loam. Diastic power of germinated barley was the lowest at 20cm of water table level, and it was almost unchanged below 30cm of water table level. And also it was not affected by soil texture.
