Theoretical Analysis of Interface Debonding on the Strengthened RC Bridge Decks (성능향상된 RC 바닥판의 계면파괴 해석)

  • Especially, when orthotropic material such as uni-dierectionally woven Carbon Fiber Sheet, resisting only the unidirectional tension, is used to strengthening bridge deck, the direction and width of the strengthening material should be considered very carefully. Thus, analysis of the failure characteristics and the premature failure mechanism of the strengthened decks based on the test results are required. In this study, the premature failure due to the interface debonding of strengthening material of the strengthened deck slab are inquired into failure mechanism through both experiments results and analyses with prototype strengthened deck specimens using carbon fiber sheet. From the test results, interface debonding of strengthening material is occured at the crack face

Structural Behaviour of Beam-to-Concrete Filled Steel Tube Column Pin Connections (콘크리트충전 각형강관기둥-보 핀접합부의 거동에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • In order to clarify the behavior of beam-to-concrete filled steel tube column under cyclic loading condition, experimental studies were carried out on shear connections. Test parameters of this study are the width-to-thickness ratio and the effect on beams with or without slab and diaphragm. Test results show that the moment-rotation relationships of connections without slab are in the range of AISC regulation of pinned connections and the rotation capacity of connection is dependent upon the width-to-thickness ratio of the column.

  • A damage identification technique using static displacement data is developed to asses s the structural integrity of bridge structures.As such, the relationship between static displacement and stiffness is derived, and the optimization technique utilized.Comparisons with numerical and experimental tests are performed to investigate the practical applicability of the proposed method.Various damage scenarios are considered by varying damage-width as well as damage-degree. The influence of noise in identifying the damage is also numerically investigated.Finally, the applicability and limitation of the proposed method are discussed.

대면적 방전셀을 적용한 AC PDP의 방전 특성 연구

  • 플라즈마 디스플레이 패널(PDP)은 가격 경쟁력이 뛰어나고 빠른 반응 속도를 기반으로 한 생생한 화질이 구현 가능한 장점에 힘입어 대형 평판 디스플레이 시장에서 주도적인 위치를 점하여 왔다. 이러한 특징을 갖고 있는 PDP는 최근 성장세를 보이고 있는 PID (Public Information Display) 시장에서도 그 효력을 발휘할 것으로 보인다. 따라서 기존의 HD급이나 Full HD급 미소 방전셀이 아닌 대면적 방전셀을 적용한 PDP 의 방전 특성에 대한 연구가 중요할 것으로 생각된다. 본 논문에서는 ITO 전극 간격 및 전극 폭, 격벽의 폭 및 높이 등 PDP 의 방전 특성에 영향을 미치는 요소들의 수치를 변화시켜 가며 대면적 방전셀을 적용한 PDP의 기본적인 방전 특성을 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 바탕으로 대면적 방전셀 PDP에서 고효율을 달성하기 위해 필요한 인자의 설계 방향을 제시해보고자 하였다. 본 논문에서 연구된 PDP는 0.862.58 mm의 셀의 크기를 갖도록 설계하였다. 앞서 제시한 바와 같이 구조 변수의 최적화를 위하여 ITO 전극 간격은 80~1, 전극의 폭은 250~750로 다양하게 주어 상판을 제작하였고 격벽의 폭은 100~200, 높이는 150~300까지 다양한 크기를 가지는 하판을 제작하여 박막 증착, 합착, 가열 배기 등의 과정을 통하여 최종적으로 2인치 크기의 테스트 패널을 제작하여 각 패널별 전압 변화, 휘도, 효율 특성 등이 분석되었다. 실험 결과 격벽 폭 150, 높이는 300일 때 negative glow 방전이 안정적으로 형성될 수 있었음을 확인하였고 최적화된 격벽 수치를 기반으로 다양한 ITO 전극 간격 및 전극 폭을 적용한 패널의 방전 특성을 분석할 수 있었다. 이러한 일련의 실험 결과들을 기반으로 향후 대면적 방전셀의 방전 전압을 낮추고 발광 효율을 개선하는데에 있어서 3전극의 면방전 구조를 가지는 PDP 의 셀을 설계하는데에 있어서 올바른 방향을 마련할 수 있을 것이라 생각된다.

A Study on Price Asymmetries in Local Petroleum Markets (석유제품의 가격 비대칭성에 관한 연구)

  • Output prices tend to respond faster to input price increases than to decreases. The 'rockets and feathers' hypothesis of asymmetric price behavior in petroleum market is tested by a full adjustment error correction model. Using monthly data for the period January 1977 to June 2006, evidence is found that there is a significant degree of asymmetry in the adjustment of wholesale prices to increases and to decreases in crude oil price. A similar hypothesis in regard to the exchange rate is also rejected by the data. Using weekly data over the period examined, evidence of asymmetry for gasoline, diesel and heating oil is also found in the transmission of price changes from wholesale to retail: retail prices increase more quickly in response to the wholesale price increases than to wholesale price decreases.

Wave Screening Performance of the Submerged Breakwater With Various Crown Widths (폭 변화에 따른 잠제의 파랑 차단 성능)

  • The numerical analysis on the wave screening performance of the submerged breakwater with various crown widths is presented. The fluid motion is considered as linearized two dimensional potential flow and the finite element method is used to analyze the wave screening performance of the submerged breakwater. It is found that single-submerged breakwater with large crown width shows the most effective wave screening performance and single-submerged breakwater with small crown width also shows fairly good wave screening performance but its effectiveness is less than that of single-submerged breakwater with large crown width. However, double- or triple-submerged breakwater with small crown width shows more effective wave screening performance than that of single- or double-submerged breakwater with large crown width. It is expected that the submerged breakwater with small crown width is economical because it reduces the size of structure.

  • With rapid economic development, general demand and interest in surroundings that consist of our lives have grown gradually. In addition, as there has been increased social interest in creating landscape of roads, which considers all important factors from the user's view including accessibility, safety, and psychological stability, efforts to improve quality of roads are required. Therefore it is needed to establish standards on safe and comfort road design based on sensibility satisfaction of road users rather than based on standardized road design guidance from the engineering perspective. To this end, research was carried out to analyze sensibility satisfaction of users about road landscape focused on elements of road cross section in a city. It identified relation between sensibility satisfaction and the elements by using principal and cluster analysis, and the multiple regression models. It also found that user's satisfaction about roads and a road landscape is high with road width (3~5 meters), clear zone (2.2~3.9 meters), road central garden (1.05~1.9 meters), shoulder (0.55~1.43 meters), median (0.65~1.625 meters), the number of travel lanes (2~5), height of trees at the central garden (6.4~15 meters) and height of buildings surrounding roads (18~44 meters or 6~15 floors).

  • 강철도 플레이트거더교의 경우 일반적으로 레일의 폭보다 거더 사이의 폭이 넓기 때문에 거더에 편심이 작용하게 된다. 이러한 편심 영향으로 거더 내측 상부플랜지에 휨변형이 일어나게 되어, 상부플랜지와 수직보강재 용접이음부에 반복하중에 의한 피로균열이 발생되고 있는 것으로 보고되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 공용중인 강철도 플레이트거더교를 대상교량으로 하여 공용하중에 대한 구조해석을 실시하였다. 대상교량에 대한 현장계측을 기초로 구조모델링을 검증하였고, 검증된 구조모델링을 사용하여 열차하중 하에서의 상부플랜지와 수직보강재 용접연결부에서의 피로균열 보강방안에 대한 구조해석을 실시하였다. 또한 상부플랜지와 수직보강재 용접이음부 상세해석을 통하여 피로균열 발생위치를 확인하고 연결이음부의 적절한 보강방안을 제시하고자 한다.

Seafloor Features around the Hupo Bank on the East Sea (동해 후포퇴(Hupo Bank) 주변의 정밀 해저지형 연구)

  • We analyze a precise seabed feature around the Hupo Bank by using Multi-beam echosounder. Multi-beam echosounder system can observe the topography undulation according to the navigation of the survey ship by shooting wide beam. It is possible to embody a precision seabed feature because it can be make high density of incompletion depth sounding between survey lines. Through this survey, there is the Hupo Bank which is 84 km long, 1-15 km wide, 5.3-160 m deep in the center, at the west is moat, at the east is scarp and submarine canyon. The top of the Hupo Bank is the Wangdol reef that has 5.3 m in depth of water at least. Moat in survey area is 30 m long, and 30-40 m wide and has a depressed channel. The gap of depth of water in scarp is approximately 60 m and shows a characteristic of cuttig plane. Submarine canyon is 3.5 - 13.5 km wide.

Correlation Between Crack Widths and Deflection in Reinforced Concrete Beams (철근콘크리트 보의 균열 폭과 처짐 관계)

  • The member deflection is one of the most important considerations for the serviceability evaluation of reinforced concrete (RC) structures, and the concept of the effective moment of inertia has been generally used for its estimation. However, the actual service load applied on an existing RC beam may not be easily obtained, for which the estimation of beam deflection by existing methods can be difficult to obtain. Therefore, based on the correlation between cracks and deflection in a RC beam, this study proposed a method to estimate the deflection of RC beams directly from the condition of cracks not using the actual loads acting on the member as its input data. The proposed method extensively utilized the relationships among sums of crack widths, average strains, and curvatures, and modification factors obtained from regression analysis were also introduced to improve its accuracy. The deflections of members were successfully estimated by the proposed method independent from applied loads, which was also easy to apply compared to the existing methods based on the effective moment of inertia.
