This study investigated the news report tendency and frame by three major Korean television networks(KBS, MBC, and SBS) in their news reports on issues involving their own interests and considering in social level. The three issues chosen for this study are 'advertising regulations for total amount', 'the reallocation of 700MHz spectrum' and 'raising TV license fee'(this issue applicable only to KBS). By using content analysis method, this study identified extremely weighted tendency toward themselves by the network television channels. They have used highly biased tone and sources to reinforce their private interests in news reports about the three controversial issues. In terms of story content, the news reports have used attribution of responsibility frame dominantly in 'advertising regulations for total amount' issue, whereas the moral frame was dominant in the other two issues.

최근들어 각종 언론들을 통해 닷컴 위기론이 강하게 제기되고 있다. 그와 맞추어 모든 언론의 보도양상도 위기론을 말하지 않으면 안된다는 의무감까지 생기는 모양이다. 이와 관련해 최근의 언론매체의 보도양상을 살펴보면 크게 두가지로 나누어 볼수 있다. 첫째, 전문가의 입을 빌리는 것이 하나의 방법이고 다음으로 업계에서 떠도는 소문을 짜 맞추어 하나의 시나리오를 만드는 것이다. 물론 양자 모두 픽션을 그리고 있지는 않다. 그러나 가장 위험한 것은 일부 여론의 태도인데 미 보도된 기사에 덧붙여 닷컴위기라는 동어반복을 한다는 것이다. 즉 동어반복 이외에는 아무런 실체가 없다는 것 때문에 경제에 매우 부정적인 영향만 끼친다는 것이다.

본 연구는 과학 커뮤니케이션 분야에서 널리 쓰이고 있는 뉴스 내용분석 방법론이 하이프 사이클 모델에 부합하는 지를 탐색적으로 살펴보고자 한다. 즉 과학기술 뉴스 내용분석이 하이프 사이클 모델에서 설명하는 사회적 가시성의 실체적 파악을 위한 기술기획의 유용한 보완적 방법론으로 쓰일 수 있음을 밝히는데 본 연구의 의의가 있다. 이를 위해 대표적인 유망기술로 클라우드 컴퓨팅을 대상으로 뉴스 내용분석을 수행하였다. 분석의 초점은 클라우드 컴퓨팅 기술 관련 뉴스의 빈도, 보도태도(긍정, 중립, 부정), 5가지 뉴스 프레임 관점에서 분석이 이루어졌고, 뉴스 보도경향이 하이프 사이클 흐름을 따라가는 지를 살펴보았다. 종합지 경제지와 IT전문지를 대상으로 한 뉴스 내용분석 결과는 뉴스 빈도, 보도 태도, 뉴스 프레임 모두 하이프 사이클의 흐름을 따르고 있었으며, 특히 2014년 이후의 흐름은 하이프 사이클 상에서 기대붕괴 지점을 지나 현실인식의 지점으로 진화되는 시점임을 추론할 수 있었다. 본 연구결과는 최근 확산되고 있는 텍스트 마이닝, 감성어 자동식별 분석 기술 등과 접목하여 사회적 맥락 파악을 위한 기술기획 분석의 보완적 방법론으로 기여할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

This study investigated the coverage on the settlement of pro-Japanese Koreans by Dongailbo and Chosunilbo during the U.S. Military Government period. 266 related articles of two newspapers searched by 6 keywords were analyzed quantitatively. And the qualitative analysis on the coverage of related issues were supplemented. Generally two newspapers can be evaluated as passive on the pro-Japanese issues. They said that anti-national activities of that time which might be an obstacle to the establishment of independent nation even more critical than the pro-Japanese activities in the past. In addition they suggested to suspend the settlement of pro-Japanese Koreans after the establishment of Korean Government, because the settlement might cause a big confusion and a vacuum of personnel. On some issues the distinction between two newspapers derived from their political orientation were revealed. Dongailbo represented the standpoint of the rightists fully and Chosunilbo revealed relatively balanced coverage.

이 연구는 원자력에 대한 국민들의 여론 형성 과정을 분석하고 효과적인 대중 커뮤니케이션 전략을 수립함으로써 궁극적으로 원자력의 사회적 수용성을 높이기 위한 목적으로 수행된 것이다. 주된 연구 내용은 (1) 일반 국민들의 매체 이용과 원자력에 대한 태도 형성 과정 분석 (2) 대중 매체의 원자력 관련 보도에 대한 내용 분석(content analysis) (3) 매체의 의제 설정(agenda-setting) 과정 분석을 위한 심층 인터뷰(FGI) (4) 효과적인 대중 커뮤니케이션 전략의 수립 등이다. 연구의 주요 내용을 3회에 걸쳐 연재한다.

This study examined how German newspapers and magazines report Korean mass culture, specifically what content on Hallyu (Korean wave) was present and what news frames were used. External characteristics, the content attributes, report trend, and news frames on Hallyu in the German media were analyzed. According to the results, German media from 2009 to 2014 reported the least about Korean wave with only a total of 78 articles. The greatest amount of articles occurred in 2012 when by PSY was a global success. The most common Korean wave articles focused on film and K-pop, but not drama. Hallyu news showed mostly a positive trend. Additionally, a thematic frame was used. Content revealed that a culturally interesting frame was most common. In order to improve the Korea image in Germany, it is proposed that 'the mediated Culture PR' be adapted to German media.

This study applied LDA topic modeling analysis to collect and analyze news media big data related to face masks in the three waves of the COVID-19 pandemic in Korea. The results empirically show that media reports focused on mask production and distribution policies in the first wave and the mandatory mask wearing in the second wave. In contrast, more reports on trivial, gossipy events consist of the media coverage in the second and third waves. The findings imply that Korea's governmental interventions to address the shortage of face masks and to regulate mask wearing were successful relatively in a short time. In contrast, the study also reports that there may be relative less number of science-based news reports like the ones on the effectiveness of face masks or different levels of filter types. This study exemplifies how a big data analysis can be applied to evaluate and enhance public health communication.

본 연구는 2022년 여름 인기리에 반영된 '이상한 변호사 우영우'라는 드라마가 '자폐'와 '발달장애' 관련 언론사의 보도형태에 어떤 영향을 미쳤는지 분석하였다. 본 연구에서는 2018년 1월 1일부터 2022년 12월 14일까지(약 5년간) 총 54개 언론사에서 보도한 '자폐'와 '발달장애'라는 용어가 포함된 관련 뉴스 기사들을 분석하였다. 그 분석대상 뉴스 빅데이터를 대상으로 키워드 트렌드 분석, 연관어 분석(워드클라우드 제시) 등을 진행하였다. 본 연구결과는 일반 시민 대상 장애인식 개선 프로그램의 개발 등에 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. 또한 본 연구를 확대하여, 장애인 관련 언론사의 보도태도(긍정-중립-부정 등)를 체계적으로 분석하고자 한다.

This study aims to analyze how the Korean liberal and conservative newspapers cover the filibuster for blocking the passage of the anti-terrorism act for the protection of citizens and public security by the main opposition party. For the comparative analysis of the Korean liberal and conservative newspapers, this study analyzes how the newspapers used news frame, news source, key word, and news theme. To analyze the effects on news coverage of the newspapers' ideological orientation, this study selects six newspapers: Hankyoreh Shinmun, Kyunghyang Shinmun, Ohmynews from liberal newspapers and Chosun Ilbo, Donga Ilbo, Joongang Ilbo from conservative newspapers. According to research findings, the liberal and conservative newspapers show clear distinction while using news frames when the newspapers cover the filibuster. The liberal newspapers cover the filibuster as a positive political action while the conservative newspapers cover the filibuster as a negative political action. In addition, as key word, "disturbance" is mentioned most by the conservative newspapers while "poisonous clauses" is used most by the liberal newspapers. As a result, this study shows that newspapers are influenced by ideological orientations while covering political issues.
