Development of Smart Packaging for Cream Type Cosmetic (크림 제형 화장품용 스마트 패키징 기술 개발)

  • The degree of cosmetic's oxidation depends on the storage conditions and external conditions when using the product. The microbial contamination and oxygen exposure often results in the quality deterioration of cosmetics. In addition, the problem is that consumers often use cream-type cosmetics, which have short expiration period (6-12 months), even after the product is expired. When using the deteriorated cosmetics, it can be fatal to consumers' safety including some symptoms such as folliculitis, rashes, edema, and dermatitis. Therefore, it is necessary to develop sealed smart packaging for cosmetics to prevent the deterioration of cosmetics and improve consumer safety. In this study, we have developed smart packaging design for cosmetics that can measure the surrounding environment and expiration date for the cosmetics in the real time. In addition, the smart packaging includes sensor, which are linked to the mobile application. Users can find out the measurement results through the application. Also, the packaging design and functions were set up based on the survey results by the user and feasible model can be produced based on user choice. The measurement in the three environment has been done after manufactured the sensor, PCB, and mobile application. As a result, it works normally within a certain range under all three environmental conditions. It is believed that the information on expiration dates and storage environment can be efficiently delivered to the consumers through developed cosmetics smart packaging and applications. The development of UI/UX design for consumer is further studied. The UX/UI design of the application plays an essential role in achieving this goal through the commercialization the cosmetic products in the wide range.

Changes in Internal and External Temperature and Microbiological Contamination depending on Consumer Behavior after Purchase of Fresh-Cut Produces (대형마트 신선편의식품 소비자의 구매 후 행동에 따른 식품 내·외부 온도 및 미생물학적 오염 변화)

  • In this study, we investigated the changes in both ambient temperature and microbial contamination of fresh convenience foods (FCFs) caused by the behavior of consumers after purchase. According to consumer survey results, it took 0.5 to 3 h put the purchased FCF in a home refrigerator or consume it. Only aerobic bacteria and Staphylococcus aureus (below maximum permitted limit) were detected in FCFs obtained from a local market. During storage of FCFs in a vehicle trunk for up to 3 h. the external and internal temperatures of FCFs were found to be 19 and 18.5℃ in spring, 44 and 42℃ in summer, 31.3 and 29.2℃ in autumn, and 17.6 and 16.8℃ in winter, respectively. Changes in contamination levels of aerobic bacteria on FCFs stored in a vehicle trunk for up to 3 hours are as follows: 2.72 → 3.41 log CFU/g in spring, 3.11 → 4.32 log CFU/g in summer, 3.08 → 3.81 log CFU/g in autumn, 2.71 → 3.36 log CFU/g in winter. S. aureus exceeding the tolerance was detected even when the FCFs were stored in a vehicle trunk for 1 h in summer and autumn and 2 h in spring and winter. Among three boxes (corrugated box, styrofoam box, and corrugated box coated with an aluminum film), the styrofoam box maintained the lowest temperature and showed the lowest growth rate of microorganisms on FCF after storage for 3 h in the vehicle trunk depending on whether ice was added. These results indicated that the possibility of food poisoning occurs when FCFs are exposed to the external environment. It is necessary to provide guidelines regarding storage temperature and allowable time for safe consumption of FCFs after purchase.

Establishment of Optimal Rearing Conditions for the Production of Tenebrio molitor Larvae (갈색거저리 유충 생산을 위한 효율적인 사육조건 확립)

  • Tenebrio molitor larvae contain large amounts of proteins, lipids and other functional materials, enabling this insect to be used as an edible food source in animal feeds and for industrialization. Although many efforts have been made to set up mass rearing systems, few studies have been conducted to establish optimal rearing conditions for the production of high quality T. molitor larvae. Herein we investigated 1) the effects of additional diets on the survival and fecundity of the insect, 2) the relationship between oviposition period and the uniformity of larval size, 3) the effects of rearing density and temperature on insect development, and 4) the storage stability of eggs and pupae at low temperatures given possible temporary production discontinuation. The addition of carrot and zucchini to the traditional wheat bran diet significantly increased the survival and fecundity rate of adult T. molitor. Of the three different oviposition sampling periods (3, 7, and 14 days) used to investigate the uniformity of the hatched larvae in each treatment, the period of 3 and 7 days provided higher uniformity than the 14 days oviposition period. Larval development was faster at $30^{\circ}C$ than at 20, 25, and $35^{\circ}C$. Interestingly, oviposition rates were highest at $20^{\circ}C$ but showed much slower larval development and lower uniformity at $30^{\circ}C$. Regarding the effect of larval rearing densities (1, 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 larvae per 90 mm diam. dish), larval weight was significantly reduced at higher rearing densities, but larval longevity and length were not influenced by rearing density. The 30 larvae/dish is suggested to be a reasonable density to be applied to mass production systems. When kept at $4^{\circ}C$, T. molitor eggs showed a significant reduction in hatching rate; however, when stored under the same conditions, pupae emergence rates remained high until 10 weeks, suggesting that storage at low temperatures is more suitable for the pupal stage than the egg stage. Our findings suggest that an increase in T. molitor adult survival and fecundity rates and a uniformity of hatched larval development can be achieved with the following recommendations: a combination diet (including wheat bran), a 7-day oviposition period; a larvae-rearing temperature of $30^{\circ}C$, a rearing density of 30 larvae/dish, and the storage of pupal stages at low temperatures in the case of rearing discontinuation. This study serves as a strong foundation for the successful mass production of high quality T. molitor larvae.

  • 현재 가장 일반적으로 사용되는 미생물 배양 용기인 petri dish를 통해 제조된 미생물 배양 배지의 보관은 냉장과 실온 보관 시 수분 증발에 대한 보호 효과가 극히 낮아 한 달 이상으로 배지 품질을 유지하기 어려운 단점이 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 petri dish를 이용하여 미생물 배양 배지를 제조할 때 glycerol 등 7종의 보습성분을 첨가하여 이에 따른 미생물 배양 배지의 수분 증발 억제 효과와 표준균주별 증식반응을 비교, 분석한 것으로 결과적으로 sodium lactate를 제외한 6종의 보습성분이 배지의 수분 증발을 억제하는 효과가 있으며 이들에 대한 표준균주별 증식반응에서도 양성의 결과를 보여주었다. 앞으로 본 연구의 결과는 즉시 사용 배지(PPM, Pre-Plated Media)의 유통기한 연장 효과 및 품질향상에 유용한 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Safety evaluation of type B transport container for tritium storage vessel (B형 삼중수소 운반용기 안정성 평가)

  • A transport container for a 500 kCi tritium storage vessel was developed, which could be used for the transport of metal tritide from Wolsong TRF facility to a disposal site. The structural, thermal, shielding, and confinement analyses were performed for the container in a view of Type B. As a result of structural analysis, the developed container sustained its integrity under normal and accidental conditions. The maximum temperature increase of the inner storage vessel by radiation was evaluated at $134.8^{\circ}C at room temperature. In $800^{\circ}C$ fire test, The thermal barrier of container sustained the inner vessel at $405^{\circ}C after 30 min, which temperature was allowable for the container integrity since maximum design temperature of inner vessel was $550^{\circ}C. In the evaluation of the shielding, the activity of radiation was nearly zero on the outer surface of inner vessel. Consequently the transport container for a 500 kCi tritium was evaluated to pass all the safety tests including accidental condition, so it was concluded that the designed transport container is proper to be used.

Survey on Contact Lens Wear Status in Gyeonggido (경기도 지역 콘택트렌즈 착용실태 조사)

  • To investigate the wear status of contact lenses by analyzing care of contact lenses container and actual condition of people wearing contact lenses and in Gyeonggido. The results were based on a questionnaire survey of 200 people who are the students of the middle school, the high school and the college among the clients of opticians to purchase contact lenses for six months from January 2013 to July 2013. According to the poll, the highest number of those polled, 139 (55.16%) people, said they were wearing cosmetic color contact lenses. Female respondents and male respondents were in the proportion of 177 (88.5%) to 23 (11.5%), respectively. 37 people (18.5%) who responded said "yes" to the question of them sharing contact lenses and glasses. 103 people (51.5%) answered "no" to the question of regularly replacing their lens containers. 148 people (74%) answered "yes" to the question of having glasses in order to investigate contact lens wearers user rate of glasses. The highest number of respondents, 127 people (63.5%), said "middle school" was the first time that they wore contacts. Meanwhile, 65 people (43.92%) said they initiated wearing glasses at 4th-6th grades. It is considered that it is necessary using proper contact lenses suitable for the clients' eye health in order of vision correction, rather than for cosmetic purposes. The role of the optician is considered to be very important for the proper management of the appropriate contact lens hygiene and regular optical check-ups of the contact lens wearers.

Storage container-dependent chemical and microbiological characteristics during kimchi storage (저장용기에 따른 김치 저장 중의 화학적, 미생물학적 특성)

  • Different types of storage containers, such as polypropylene (PP), stainless steel (STS), and ceramic were used for kimchi storage at 0℃ in a refrigerator, and the characteristics were compared for 32 days. The pH of kimchi samples in PP and STS containers reached 4.59 and 4.53, respectively at day 16, while a pH of 4.92 could be observed in ceramic containers. This trend persisted until day 32. Titratable acidities of the PP and STS container contents reached 0.83 and 0.82%, respectively, on day 16, while it reached 0.73% in the case of the ceramic container contents. The viable cell counts of lactic acid bacteria in kimchi samples in PP, STS, and ceramic containers fluctuated and finally reached 4.87, 5.44, and 5.35 Log CFU/g, respectively. Weissella koreensis occupied a large portion of the kimchi sample of the ceramic container on day 20 based on the metagenomic analysis. Taken together, ceramic container might be desirable for the storage of kimchi in low temperature refrigerators.

  • 국가경쟁력강화위원회에서 확정(2011. 1. 19. 제24차 회의)된 하위법령 특별정비 추진에 따라 행정제재처분기준을 경감할 수 있는 사유를 명확히 마련함으로써 행정제재처분을 합리화하는 한편, 액화석유가스 총전사업 등의 허가요건에 관한 세부적인 사항을 조례로 정하도록 하는 내용으로 "액화석유가스의 안전관리 및 사업법"이 개정(법률 제10350호, 2010. 6. 8. 공포, 9. 9. 시행)됨에 따라 종전에 고시로 정하고 있던 액화석유가스 충전사업 및 액화석유가스 판매사업의 시설기준 중 안전거리, 도로의 폭, 용기보관실 사무실 주차장의 면적에 대하여 일반 기준의 2배 이내의 범위에서 강화된 기준을 조례로 정하려는 것임.

  • 원적외선은 파장이 매우 긴 빛으로 우리 생활에 가장 유익한 빛이다. 이는 인체에 전혀 해가 없이 생체 활동을 촉진하는 광선으로 숙성, 온열, 자정, 건조, 연수 등 다양한 작용을 하는 불가사의한 빛으로 알려져 있다. 현재 원적외선을 활용한 분야는 건설, 주택, 가전제품, 의류, 화장품, 농업에 이르기까지 다양하고, 그 과는 이미 많은 부분에서 입증되고 있다. 본 연구는 기능이 향상된 원적외선을 방사하는 기능성 포장재에서 딸기의 이차학적 변화를 관찰하고 나아가 신선도를 향상시키는 식품 포장재를 개발하는 것에 그 목적을 두었다.
