Design of Impulse generator Using Gain-Switched Semiconductor Laser for UWB (반도체 레이저의 이득스위칭을 이용한 UWB 임펄스 발생기 설계)

  • In this paper, we implemented a impulse generator, the one of the part in UWB(Ultra Wide Band) system using step recovery diode(SRD) and gain-switced semiconductor laser. The impulse generator was consisted of four stages; The first stage used SRD to generate the first impulse for gain switching. The second stage controled current for the suitable gain switching condition. The third was the second impulse generator to generate gaussian pulse. For gain switching, the first impulse was applied to semiconductor laser. In the last stage the gain switched impulse was converted into mono-gaussian pulse. The measured mono-gaussian pulse was 360 psec pulse-width and $-70mV \~ +50mV$ amplitude in time domain. In frequency domain its magnitude and bandwidth was, respectively, -41dBm and 3.6GHz. Accordingly, the impulse generator that we suggested was suitable for UWB systems.

  • The dual-channel receiver MMIC which is composed of LNA, Mixer, LO-amp and temperature compensation circuit is designed on a single chip. For the performance comparison, a FMCW radar transceiver module using commercial MMICs is also implemented. As a result, Multi-channel Transceiver using manufactured MMIC shows an improved performance such as noise figure and gain flatness compare to purchased MMIC.

  • 본 논문에서는 다양한 주파수 튜닝이 가능한 직접변환방식을 이용한 Gm-C 능동필터 회로를 설계하였다. 설계된 필터는 집적회로를 튜닝하여 요구되는 기준주파수 및 대역폭과 이득을 만족시킬 수 있다. 필터에 사용된 OTA회로는 전달 트랜스컨덕턴스 값을 외부전압으로 제어할 수 있도록 설계하여 다양한 주파수대역에서 사용할 수 있다는 장점을 가진다. 설계된 필터는 ripple 전압을 최소화 하고 이득 값을 높일 수 있는 Elliptic 필터를 사용하였다. 집적화를 위하여 수동필터를 능동필터로 변환할 수 Gyrator 방식을 이용하였다. HSPICE 시뮬레이션 결과, 외부전압을 1.0V~1.9V까지 변화를 주었을 때 1.4MHz ~ 2.8MHz의 차단주파수의 조정이 가능하였고 소비전력은 4.5mW~20mW임을 측정하였다.

  • 본 실험에서는 RF 소자들과 650 nm InGaAIP FP LD를 사용하고 이득스위칭에 의하여 선폭이 35psec 되는 극초단 광펄스를 생성하였다. 또한 이렇게 생성된 극초단 광펄스를 이용하여 언덕형 굴절률 분포를 가지는 다중모드 광섬유의 대역폭을 빠른 푸리에 변환(Fast Fourier Transform)으로 계산하였다 따라서 본 실험에서 이용된 언덕형 굴절률 분포를 갖는 다중모드 광섬유의 대역폭은 670 MHz.km로 측정되었다.

The Design of K-band Up converter with the Excellent IMD3 Performance (3차 혼변조 왜곡 특성이 우수한 K-band 상향변환기 설계)

  • In this paper, we has designed and implemented Up-converter for K-band with high IMD3 performance using balanced power amplifier. It is consisted of PA module and, Local Oscillator module with reject Filter, mixer module and If block, and Up-converter has a local loop path to decide whether it operate or not and has the sensing port to inspect output power level. According to the power budget of designed Up-converter, K-band balanced power amplifier was fabricated by commercial MMIC. Measurement results of up-converter show about 40dB Gain, PldB of 29dBm and OIP3 was 38.25dBm, that is good performance compared to power budgets. We has adjusted gate voltage of MMIC to control more than 30 dB gain. This up-converter was used in transceiver for PTP and PTMP, and applied to digital communication system that use QAM and QPSK modulation.

  • In this paper, Low Noise Block down converter(LNB) is designed for a Ka-band satellite television receiver only(TVRO) using commercially available MMIC. Designed Low Noise Block down-converter is composed of three stage amplifiers involving input noise matched at first amplification stage, image reject band pass filter, frequency mixer and intermediate frequency amplification. Through LNB Module power budget to obtain gain and attenuation, Optimum LNB devices satisfying Ka-band LNB technical specification are selected. Experimental results of designed Ka-band LNB yields conversion gain of over $58{\pm}1dB$, noise figure of less than 1.5dB and phase noise of -94.6dBc @10KHz.

  • A lot of demand for parts of millimeter wave band, as would be expected 57~63 GHz band down conversion mixer was designed and fabricated using IHP 0.25 um SiGe process. Designed and fabricated mixer was double balanced type and located reduced 3D balun at RF port and buffer amplifier at outport for suppression LO signal and conversion gain. Fabricated mixer measured conversion gain of 13.8 dB, $P1dB_{in}$ -17 dBm and 88 mA of current consumption characteristics, respectively.

  • A 12GHz low-noise amplifier, a single gate GaAs MESFET mixer, and a low-pass filter have been fabricated for DBS receiver applications by using MIC technology. Each subsystem contains DC block with symmetric line and ship capacitor, respectively. The frequency converter with chip capacitor exhibits a 20-23 dB conversin gain with a RF bandwidth of 11.581-11.981 GHz and an IF bandwidth of 581-981MHz. Rf bandwidth of 12.1GHz and an IF banewidth of 1GHz.

  • In this paper, we designed and analysed K-band front-end module for digital microwave communication system receiver which improvement of dynamic range. We also suggested method of minimum amplified input signal level used to minimize noise figure of low-noise amplifier for High dynamic range. The designed modules consist of active mixer with conversions gain and PL-DRO with high stability and quality factor. The designed modules performance is that has the characteristics of over 54dB conversion gain, 1.3dB noise figure.

  • 본 논문에서는 높은 주파수에서 이미지신호에 따른 하향변환기의 선현성을 우수하게 나타내기 위하여 이미지 제거 특성이 우수한 능동소자를 선택하여 VSAT 위성통신용 Ka-band 하향변환기를 설계 및 제작하였다. 하향변환기의 구성은 저잡음 증폭기단, 이미지 제거 필터, 주파수 혼합기, 주파수 체배기, 전압제어 감쇄단 및 IF단으로 구성하였고, RF 경로의 동작 유무를 판단하기 위하여 국부 루프 경로로 구성되어 있다. 하향변환기의 이득은 $11.73{\sim}13.23dB$, 잡음지수 4.4dB 이하, 50dBc 이상의 이미지 제거 특성을 나타내어, 본 논문에서 제작한 하향변환기는 고속/광 대역폭을 가지는 디지털 통신 시스템에도 적용할 수 있다.
