A Rate and Distortion Estimation Scheme for HEVC Hardware Implementation (하드웨어 구현에 적합한 HEVC 의 CU 단위 율 및 왜곡 예측 방법)

  • 본 논문에서는 하드웨어의 제한된 자원을 이용하여 HEVC 코덱을 구현할 때 DCT 와 엔트로피 부호화를 사용하지 않고 율 및 왜곡값을 예측하여 고효율의 부호화를 수행하는 방법에 대하여 제안한다. HEVC 는 기존의 부호화기에 비하여 계층적 부호화 구조와 함께 큰 블록 크기를 갖는 DCT 와 엔트로피 부호화를 반복적으로 수행하기 때문에 하드웨어 구현 시 그 복잡도가 매우 크게 증가한다. 먼저 DCT 는 하다마드변환 행렬과 또 다른 정규 직교 변환 행렬의 곱으로 표현될 수 있는 성질을 이용하여 부호화 변환 시 생성된 하드마드변환 행렬에 저복잡도의 정규 직교 변환 행렬을 곱하여 DCT 변환 계수를 생성한 후 변환 및 양자화를 수행한다. 왜곡값의 경우, 이 때 생성된 양자화 계수와 변환 계수 간의 차이를 변환도메인에서 제곱합을 이용하여 계산하여 역변환을 생략함으로써 복잡도를 감소시킬 수 있다. 또한 텍스처에 대한 비트율 예측은 각 CU 블록내의 양자화 계수의 수를 더하여 계산하여 엔트로피를 수행하지 않고 예측할 수 있다. 그리고 비 텍스처에 대한 비트율 예측의 경우 움직임벡터의 비트에 대한 Pseudo CABAC 코드를 수행하여 예측할 수 있다. 이러한 저 복잡도의 텍스처 및 비텍스처 비트와 왜곡을 예측함으로써 하다마드변환만을 이용하여 부호화하였을 때에 비해 최대 33%의 비트율 감소를 얻을 수 있었다.

A Single Index Approach for Time-Series Subsequence Matching that Supports Moving Average Transform of Arbitrary Order (단일 색인을 사용한 임의 계수의 이동평균 변환 지원 시계열 서브시퀀스 매칭)

  • We propose a single Index approach for subsequence matching that supports moving average transform of arbitrary order in time-series databases. Using the single index approach, we can reduce both storage space overhead and index maintenance overhead. Moving average transform is known to reduce the effect of noise and has been used in many areas such as econometrics since it is useful in finding overall trends. However, the previous research results have a problem of occurring index overhead both in storage space and in update maintenance since tile methods build several indexes to support arbitrary orders. In this paper, we first propose the concept of poly-order moving average transform, which uses a set of order values rather than one order value, by extending the original definition of moving average transform. That is, the poly-order transform makes a set of transformed windows from each original window since it transforms each window not for just one order value but for a set of order values. We then present theorems to formally prove the correctness of the poly-order transform based subsequence matching methods. Moreover, we propose two different subsequence matching methods supporting moving average transform of arbitrary order by applying the poly-order transform to the previous subsequence matching methods. Experimental results show that, for all the cases, the proposed methods improve performance significantly over the sequential scan. For real stock data, the proposed methods improve average performance by 22.4${\~}$33.8 times over the sequential scan. And, when comparing with the cases of building each index for all moving average orders, the proposed methods reduce the storage space required for indexes significantly by sacrificing only a little performance degradation(when we use 7 orders, the methods reduce the space by up to 1/7.0 while the performance degradation is only $9\%{\~}42\%$ on the average). In addition to the superiority in performance, index space, and index maintenance, the proposed methods have an advantage of being generalized to many sorts of other transforms including moving average transform. Therefore, we believe that our work can be widely and practically used in many sort of transform based subsequence matching methods.

The Real-Time Determination of Ionospheric Delay Scale Factor for Low Earth Orbiting Satellites by using NeQuick G Model (NeQuick G 모델을 이용한 저궤도위성 전리층 지연의 실시간 변환 계수 결정)

  • For ionospheric correction of low earth orbiter (LEO) satellites using single frequency global navigation satellite system (GNSS) receiver, ionospheric scale factor should be applied to the ground-based ionosphere model. The ionospheric scale factor can be calculated by using a NeQuick model, which provides a three-dimensional ionospheric distribution. In this study, the ionospheric scale factor is calculated by using NeQuick G model during 2015, and it is compared with the scale factor computed from the combination of LEO satellite measurements and international GNSS service (IGS) global ionosphere map (GIM). The accuracy of the ionospheric delay calculated by the NeQuick G model and IGS GIM with NeQuick G scale factor is analyzed. In addition, ionospheric delay errors calculated by the NeQuick G model and IGS GIM with the NeQuick G scale factor are compared. The ionospheric delay error variations along to latitude and solar activity are also analyzed. The mean ionospheric scale factor from the NeQuick G model is 0.269 in 2015. The ionospheric delay error of IGS GIM with NeQuick G scale factor is 23.7% less than that of NeQuick G model.

Non-fixed Quantization Considering Entropy Encoding in HEVC (HEVC 엔트로피 부호화를 고려한 비균등 양자화 방법)

  • MPEG and VCEG have constituted a collaboration team called JCT-VC(Joint Collaborative Team on Video Coding) and have been developing HEVC(High Efficiency Video Coding) standard. All transform coefficients in a TU(Transform Unit) have been equally quantized according to the quantization and inverse quantization method which is used in HEVC standard. Such an equal quantization is not efficient because the transformed coefficients in the TU are not eqully distributed. Furthermore, the quantized coefficients which is positioned in later scanning order cannot be efficient due to the entropy scanning method. We suggest an algorithm that transform coefficients are quantized at different values according to the position in TU considering a scanning order of entropy encoding to improve the coding efficiency. The principle of this algorithm is that quantization and inverse quantization are carried out according to the scanning order which is in accordance with the statistical characteristic of distribution of quantized transform coefficients. The proposed algorithm shows on the average of 0.34% Y BD-rate compression rate improvement.

  • In this paper, a Negative Impedance Converter (NIC) circuit was employed for the electro-mechanical characteristic control of a thickness mode piezoelectric vibrator. Two circular plane piezoelectric vibrators were bonded together and the NIC circuit was connected to one of the vibrators. The theoretical and experimental analysis of the characteristics shown that the quality factor and the electro-acoustic efficiency of the vibrator with the NIC circuit could be improved by 20 times and 2.5 times, respectively.

  • Image data is mostly stored in compressed form because of its huge size. Therefore, a series of cumbersome procedures is required to apply a transformation to image data: decompression, extraction of spatial data, transformation and recompression. In this paper, we employ DCT(Discrete Cosine Transform) coefficients to change the spatial presentation of images. DCT is commonly used in still image compression standards such as JPEG and moving picture compression standards such as MPEG-2, MPEG-4, and H.264. In this paper, we derived mathematically the relationship between the geometry transformation in the spatial domain and coefficient changes in the DCT domain and verified it with images in the JPEG file format. Because of the efficiency of transformation in the frequency domain, our findings can be utilized for light-weight partial image encryption for privacy data protection or entertainment contents protection.

  • 프랙탈 압축 알고리즘에서는 필요에 따라 다양한 분할 방식을 사용하고 있다. 기존에는 분할방식에 따라 다른 isometry 변환계수 값만을 사용하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위하여 모든 분할 방식에서 공통적으로 사용할 수 있도록 변환 가능한 isometry 변환계수 방식을 제안하였으며 이를 하드웨어로 구현하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 기존의 단방향 컬러 스페이스 컨버터(Color Space Converter)를 양방 향으로 변환하는 것뿐만 아니라, 기존의 디코더, 엔코터 및 모니터 등이 가지고 있는 Brightness 기능을 갖도록 변환 행렬 계수를 임의로 조정할 수 있는 컬러 스페이스 컨버터 를 설계하였다. 이러한 변환 계수 자체를 조정하여 휘도 및 색차 신호에 변화를 주는 방법 은 새롭게 제안한 방법으로 계수의 조정은 ROM형태를 이용하여 향후 인터페이스 부분을 부가하여 소프트웨어적으로 제어할 수 있도록 설계하였다. 본 논문에서 제안한 Brightness 기능을 갖는 컬러 스페이스 컨버터는 저가의 멀티미디어 비디오 관련 시스템을 구현할 수 있는 장점을 가지고 있다.

  • 본 논문은 웨이브릿을 기반으로 하는 EZW(Embedded Zerotree Wavelet) 복호기의 설계와 구현에 대하여 소개한다. EZW 부호화는 zerotree를 이용하는 부호화 방법으로서 웨이브릿 변환된 영상이 지니고 있는 계수의 특징을 잘 활용한 부호화 방법이다. EZW 복호화는 EZW 부호화와 대칭 관계를 갖는 구조로 구성되어 있다. EZW 복호기는 부호화의 결과로 생성된 파일의 bit stream을 입력으로 받아서 dominant와 subordinate pass로 구성된 2-pass의 EZW 복호화 과정을 수행하여 부호화 이전의 웨이브릿 변환된 입력 영상의 계수값을 복원한다. 복원된 웨이브릿 변환된 영상의 계수 값은 IDWT(Inverse Discrete Wavelet Transform)를 수행하여 부호화 되기 이전의 원래의 영상으로 재구성된다.

  • The pseudocolor mage enhancement of gray image using wavelet filter coefficients is presented. The psuedocolor enhancement is that the decomposition enhancement is realized by wavelet transform and RGB image is extracted by wavelet filter coefficients with norma waveletl. The result of experiment an increases enhanced gray image as 30dB compared the processing of wavelet filter coefficients.
