A study on the three-dimensional upsetting of non-prismatic blocks considering different frictional conditions at two flat dies (상하면의 마찰이 틀린 비직각주 소재의 3차원 업셋팅에 관한 연구)

  • Upsetting of non-circular blocks is characterized by the three-dimensional deformation with lateral sidewise spread as well as axial bulging along thickness. A kinematically admissible velocity field for the upsetting of prismatic or non-prismatic blocks is proposed which considers the different frictional conditions at the top and bottom surfaces of a billet. From the proposed velocity field the upper-bound load and the deformed configuration are determined by minimizing the total power consumption with respect to some chosen parameters. Experiments are carried out with annealed SM 15C steel billets at room temperature for different billet shapes and frictional conditions. The theoretical predictions both in the forging load and the deformed configurations are shown to be in good agreement with the experimental observations. Therefore, the velocity field proposed in this work can be used for the prediction of forging load and deformation in upsetting of prismatic or non-prismatic blocks, considering the different frictional conditions at two flat dies.

A Study on Variation and Determination of Gaussian function Using SNR Criteria Function for Robust Speech Recognition (잡음에 강한 음성 인식에서 SNR 기준 함수를 사용한 가우시안 함수 변형 및 결정에 관한 연구)

  • In case of spectral subtraction for noise robust speech recognition system, this method often makes loss of speech signal. In this study, we propose a method that variation and determination of Gaussian function at semi-continuous HMM(Hidden Markov Model) is made on the basis of SNR criteria function, in which SNR means signal to noise ratio between estimation noise and subtracted signal per frame. For proving effectiveness of this method, we show the estimation error to be related with the magnitude of estimated noise through signal waveform. For this reason, Gaussian function is varied and determined by SNR. When we test recognition rate by computer simulation under the noise environment of driving car over the speed of 80㎞/h, the proposed Gaussian decision method by SNR turns out to get more improved recognition rate compared with the frequency subtracted and non-subtracted cases.

  • The objectives of this study were to examine the viscoelastic behaviour of stem samples of rice in force-relaxation and rheological model to represent its relaxation behaviour, and to study the effects of rate of deformation and initial deformation on the relaxation time. The results were as follows; 1. In the process of loading and unloading, there is any plastic deformation so called elasto-plastic hysterisis. 2. Loading and unloading of stem of rice for several cycles has also shown the reduction of plastic or residual deformation and work hardening. 3. The relaxation behaviour of stem of rice in compression may be described by a generalized Maxwell model consisting of three Maxwell units in parallel. The rheological equation of such a model is given as $$F(t)=C_1e^{{-t/{\tau}}_1}+C_2e^{{-t/{\tau}}_2}+C_3e^{{-t/{\tau}}_3}$$ 4. Force relaxation always increased with increasing rates of deformation and initial deformation.

  • 본 연구에서는 SM20C를 모재로 하여 입경의 크기가 다른 3종의 복합조직강을 제작 동일한 분위기에서 저 및 고사이클 전영역에 걸쳐 피로특성을 검토하고져 한다. 제일보는 그 중 저사이클특성에 대한 보고이다. 일반적으로 저사이클 피로현상은 재 료가 탄소성 상태하에서 전위, 미소크랙, 보이드(void) 등의 인자가 복합적으로 작용 하여 발생함으로 변형률속도, 제어파형, 온도, 시험방법 및 분위기에 따라 많은 영향 을 받는다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 두가지 실험방법을 사용, 응력-변형율거동을 검토 복합조직강의 피로특성과 입경크기가 피로거동 및 강도에 미치는 영향을 비교 고찰하 였다.

Effect of Compression Test Conditions on Texture Profile Analysis of Surimi-based Products (압착실험조건이 어육연제품의 조직감 면모분석에 미치는 영향)

  • The texture profile analysis (TPA) parameters of commercial surimi-based products were evaluated at various compression test conditions. Cylindrical specimens of diameter to length (D/L) ratio of 1.0, 1.5, B.() cm/min were compressed to 50, 65 and 80% using crosshead speeds of 1.7, 3.3, 6.7 cm/min. TPA parameters of three surimi-based products (hardness-1, hardness-2, cohesiveness, springiness, chewiness and gumminess) were analyzed statistically. The TPA parameters were modified by dividing with cross section area and strain. The TPA parameters were affected by D/L and compression ratio except for crosshead speed for all three surimi-based products. The ecommended test conditions for TPA of surimi-based products seem to be D/L of 1.5, compression ratio of 80%, and crosshead speed of 1.7 to 6.7 cm/min.

  • The current analytical techniques for R/C elements under severe dynamic repeated loads, like earth¬quake or impact, have two major problems; one is that the effects of strain rate are not considered and the other one is the current analytical model was developed based on flexural behavior only. This study develops computer software that can idealize the flexural and shear behavior of R/C elements using several parameters and also can consider the effects of strain rate. The analytical results using the developed technique were compared with serveral experimental results and they were generally satisfied.

  • Experimental studies of the brittle-ductile transition (BDT) for pre-cracked sapphire single crystals were carried out. The BDT temperature in sapphire single crystals were $1000\pm$$25^{\circ}C$ and 1100$\pm$$25^{\circ}C$ at constant strain rate 3.3$\times$$10^{-5}$/sec and 3.3$\times$$10^{-6}$/sec, respectively. With aid of the BDT model, the activation energy for prism plane slip {1120} <1100> dislocation velocity was in the range of 4.6$\pm$2.3eV This activation energy for dislocation velocity with BDT model was compatible with the result of the dislocation velocity (3.8eV) using the etch-pit techniques.

Effect of Compression Test Conditions on the Textural Parameters of Imitation Crab-leg Product (압착시험 조건이 게맛살의 조직감 지표에 미치는 영향)

  • The optimum conditions fer the measurement of texture profile of imitation crab-leg products were investigated by different conditions using Texture Analyser and the date were compared to those of sensory evaluations. The textural characteristics of surimi gels were compared with those of imitation crab-leg products. The TPA values of 5 different kinds of commercial imitation crab-leg product and 2 kinds of surimi gel products purchased in a market in Seoul were measured. In surimi gels, instrumental hardness and cohesiveness were higher than those of imitation crab-leg products, especially chewiness and gumminess were significantly higher than those of imitation crab-leg products. In imitation crab-leg products, hardness and cohesiveness increased and springiness decreased as the probe diameter increased from 12.5 mm to 24.6 mm. In the different compression ratio (60, 70, 80%), hardness increased and cohesiveness and springiness decreased as the compression ratio increased. The chewiness, gumminess, cohesiveness and hardness increased slightly as the cross-head speed increased from 0.8 to 2.4 mm/sec. Significant correlations between mechanical and sensory values were observed in gumminess, chewiness, cohesiveness and hardness. The optimum conditions for the TPA measurement of imitation crab-leg products were a cross-head speed of 2.4 mm/sec and 60% compression ratio with a flat probe having twice of the sample diameter (24.6 mm).

Effects of Crack Velocity on Fracture Properties of Modified S-FPZ Model (수정 특이-파괴진행대이론의 파괴특성에 대한 균열속도의 영향)

  • The fracture energy evaluated from the previous experimental results can be simulated by using the modified singular fracture process zone (S-FPZ) model. The fracture model has two fracture properties of strain energy release rate for crack extension and crack close stress versus crack width relationship $f_{ccs}$ ( w ) for fracture process zone (FPZ) development. The $f_{ccs}$( w ) relationship is not sensitive to specimen geometry and crack velocity. The fracture energy rate in the FPZ increases linearly with crack extension until the FPZ is fully developed. The fracture criterion of the strain energy release rate depends on specimen geometry and crack velocity as a function of crack extension. The variation of strain energy release rate with crack extension can explain theoretically the micro-cracking, micro-crack localization and full development of the FPZ in concrete.

Influencing Factors in Drying and Shrinking Characteristics of Root Vegetables (근채류의 건조 및 수축특성에 영향을 미치는 인자)

  • During hot air drying of root vegetables such as radish and sweet potatoes, shrinkage and casehardening occurred, and thereby the quality change appeared. Therfore the hot air drying apparatus in which air temperature, relative humidity and air velocity could be controlled was designed, and the drying and shrinking characteristics of radish and sweet potatoes were studied. Also the external factors that affected these characteristics were investigated. The whole drying process of radish and sweet potatoes could be divided into four different drying rate periods, namely constant rate period, first falling rate period, second falling rate period (a) and (b). The shrinking rate curve consisted of four periods nearly corresponding to drying rate periods. The shrinking rate slowly increased in the constant rate period, rapidly increased in the first falling rate period, and reached the highest value in the early period of the second falling rate period. The surface shrinkage was greatly affected by the thickness of sample, relative humidity and initial moisture content. The shrinking ratio was increased with decreasing thickness and increasing relative humidity and initial moisture content.
