Estimation of Cable Damages using Piezo Disk and Optical Fiber Sensors (압전소자와 광섬유센서를 이용한 케이블의 손상평가)

  • Presently means of utilizing sensors such as Piezoelectric(PZT) Element for evaluating the affect of oscillator, strain gauge for analyzing physical changes and use of Fiber Bragg Grating(FBG) Sensor are widely practiced in the field. In this study, PZT and FBG sensors were used to tearing damage of cable systems in these sensors. Cable systems are a construction of elements carrying only tension and no compression or bending in membrane structure. But damage detection of cable systems by using existing safety diagnosis is difficult to detect the characteristic change of overall structural action. If cable snaps are occurred to cable release and tear in tension structures, these are set up a vibration. So, we used piezo-electric materials and result of experiment using this was compared with result of experiment using FBG sensors The purpose of this research is to develop of damage detection method of cable system in tensile stress.

Vibration Reduction of Steel Hot-Rolling Facility (제철 열간 압연기의 진동 저감책)

  • 본 연구에서는, 제철 열간 압연기에서 slab가 진입, 추출시 충격으로 인한 진 동에 의해 두께 조절용 위치센서가 오작동을 하는 원인을 규명하고 그 해결 책을 제시하고자, 기존 AGC Top Plate와 위치 감지센서의 작동 상태 및 진 동특성을 검정하였고, 문제점을 발견하여 각각의 구조를 개선, 재측정하여 개선정도를 확인하였다. Disk형 AGC Top Plate는 직경을 줄이고, 두께를 늘 여 자체 진동을 감소시켜, Plate 진동에 의한 위치센서의 오작동 원인 및 이 에 의해 제어 유압펌프에 Feedback되어 top부 제어계에 발생하는 Hunting현 상을 줄였다. 위치센서는 내부 Spring의 초기변형량을 증가시켜 내탄성에너 지량을 증가시켜, 센서자체의 진동 및 측정시 나타나는 여진현상을 제거하였 다. 본 연구를 통한 측정결과로는 최대 82.7%의 제진효과와 여진현상의 제거 효과를 보았다.

  • Over the past few years, intelligent tire is developed very actively for more accurate measurement of real-time tire forces generated during vehicle driving situation. Information on the force of intelligent tire could be used very usefully to chassis control systems of a vehicle. Intelligent tire is based on deformation of tire's inner surface from the waveform of a SAW, or Surface Acoustic Wave. The tire vertical force is estimated by using variance analysis of sensor signals. The estimated tire vertical force is compared with the tire vertical force generated during vehicle driving situation in real-time environment. The scope of this paper is a correlation study between the measured sensor signals and the tire vertical force generated during vehicle driving situation.

  • 최근 도메인에 기반한 개념과 이들 개념간의 관계를 설정할 수 있는 온톨로지 기반 컨텍스트 모델들이 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅 환경에서 연구되고 있다. 그러나 새로운 개념의 추가에 따른 온톨로지 재구성은 시간이나 비용적으로 많은 오버헤드를 초래한다. 즉 하위 레벨에 있는 임의의 데이터 구조가 수정될 때마다 계속 적으로 기존 온톨로지를 변경해야만 한다. 따라서 센서 노드의 동적인 컨텍스트 표현보다 미들웨어와 같은 최상위의 추상적이고 정적인 컨텍스트 표현에 적합하다. 한편 센서 네트워크에서의 베이스 스테이션 기반 상황인지 기법은 상황 조건을 만족시키지 못하는 저수준 센싱 정보를 베이스 스테이션으로 전송하는데 많은 에너지를 소모한다. 본 논문에서는 센서 노드에서의 동적인 컨텍스트의 표현과 저수준 센싱 정보의 전송량을 줄이기 위해 메타데이터와 RDF 기반 구조의 변형인 Triple 구조를 결합한 컨텍스트 모델은 제안한다.

  • Long pipe structures are usually installed in fixtures located with regular intervals or laid underground. Therefore, deflection and deformation could easily occur due to their weight or ground activity. A shape monitoring technique can be used effectively to evaluate the integrity of the pipe structures. Fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensors, which have an advantage of multiplexing could be used to measure strains at multiple-points of a long structure. In this study, to evaluate the integrity of a pipeline, a shape estimation technique based on strain information was proposed. Furthermore, different experiments were conducted to verify the performance of the proposed technique. Thus, the proposed shape estimation technique can represent the shape according to the deformation of the specimen using the FBGs. Moreover, calculated deflection of the pipeline using the estimation technique showed a good agreement with the actual deflection of the pipeline.

  • In this paper, the narrow-band characteristic, which is the disadvantage of the existing the PD sensor, was improved by transforming the sensor shape into a trapezoidal shape to improve the characteristics of the dipole-shaped conventional PD(Patial Discharge) sensor. In addition, by applying a cavity structure, which is a structure that can fundamentally block the electromagnetic wave signal from the outside as it is used for an external sensor, it is a partial discharge sensor that takes advantage of the structural advantages of low cost and convenience of installation. As a result of the experiment, it was shown that there is a broadband characteristic of about 70.5%(1.59~3.32GHz) at the center frequency of 2.45GHz, and the broadband characteristic was confirmed.

  • This paper is to analyze the behaviors of tunnel support by TDR(Time Domain Reflectometry) sensor using electrical pulse. To analysis the behaviors of tunnel support, Copper tape as sensing materials was studied for on-site installation. Copper tape to the top of the glass tape, foam tape, and shielding the lower part was used electromagnetic shield sheet. For a high sensitivity to load and fill out the measurement noise emissions has been developed for the production of materials. This sensing material through the tunnel model tests for the change by surcharge load in TDR data were analyzed. Varing stiffness and support of conditions were determined the change of TDR data through PVC pipe tunnel section model tests. By comparing TDR data and finite element analysis, the behaviors of the tunnel support materials were analyzed qualitatively.

  • In this study, the applicability of underground displacement sensors was considered through rock blasting tests to develop a relatively inexpensive and efficient slope failure prediction system that can quickly detect the risk of slope failure in advance and issue predictions and warnings with accurate judgment. In the blasting experiment, the sensor located close to the blasting source showed a large displacement due to crushing inside the rock and the sensor located away from the blasting source showed a relatively small strain. This study confirmed that the wired and wireless type underground displacement sensor system can be applied to measure the behavior of the rock slope, and it can be used as a basic data for establishing an early warning system to predict slope failure.

  • In this paper, we propose modified algorithm of motion vector detection for the pixel of image in the optical sensor. It is designed to reduce the amount of operation and have more accuracy in the motion detection than previous block matching algorithm. The proposed algorithm is implemented with Cyclone and fabricated using SEC 0.35um CMOS 1-poly-4-metal technology. The result of test with CARTESIAN ROBOT meets the desired performance.

  • Shape Memory Alloy(SMA) has been used in many engineering fields because of its good characteristics of actuator. For example, SMA wire can be embedded easily in the polymer composite laminate and then be used as actuator for structural control. Since the strain have a significant influence on the electrical resistance of SMA wire, It is a possible to use the SMA wire as a sensor of such physical quantities. In this study, the possibility for the application of Ni-Ti SMA wire as a sensor embedded within a composite laminate is investigated.
