Processing and Properties of Mechanically Alloyed Iron-Silicide (기계적 합금화에 의한 Iron-Silicide의 제조 및 특성)

  • Iron- silicide has been produced by mechanical alloying process and consolidated by hot pressing. As-consolidated iron silicides were consisted of $\beta$-FeSi$_2$ phase, and untransformed mixture of $\alpha$-$Fe_2Si_5$ and $\varepsilon$-FeSi phases. Isothermal annealing has been carried out to induce the transformation to a thermoelectric semiconducting $\beta$-$FeSi_2$ phase. The condition for $\beta$-FeSi$_2$ transformation was investigated by utilizing DTA, SEM, TEM and XRD analysis. The phase transformation was shown to be taken place by a vacuum isothermal annealing at $830^{\circ}C$ for 24 hours. The mechanical and thermoelectric properties of $\beta$-FeSi$_2$ materials before and after isothermal annealing were characterized in this study.

Histological and Histochemical Studies on the Cutaneous Mucous Glands According to the Development of Frog, Rana nigromaculata (개구리(Rana nigromaculata)발생에 따른 피부점액선의 조직학적 및 조직화학적 연구)

  • The present study was performed histologically and histochemically to observe the cutaneous mucous glands in the frog, Rana nigromaculata during metamorphosis. The cutaneous thssues including dermal plicae in the dorsal portions of the frog tadpoles at each metamorphosis stage were fixed in 10% buffered formalin at$4^{\circ}C$, embedded in paraffin wax, sectioned 4 $\mu$m thickness and stained with periodic acid-Schiff(PAS) and alcian blue (AB) at both pH 2.5 and pH 1.0. The results of observation were as follows: 1. The developments of cutaneous mucous glands of the frog tadpole were begun with appearance of gland cell nest in the dermis at metamorphosis XV stage and significant numerical increases could be seen at metamorphosis XX, XXIII and XXIV stages. 2. This cutaneous mucous gland of the frog tadpole could be divided into two types; A-type glands showed strong positivities to both PAS and AB at pH 2.5 in the gland body cells and to PAS in the gland neck cells, and B-type glands at AB pH 2.5 in the gland body cells. 3. In the A-type mucous glands, the reactivities of the glandular epithelial cells to both PAS and AB stain could be first seen at the metamorphosis XIX stage of frog tadpole. The reactivities of the glandular epithelial cells to both PAS and AB pH 2.5 were gradually increased according to the process of metamorphosis after XX stage of metamorphosis. 4. The B-type mucous glands were first seen at the XX stage and the reactivity of the glandular epithelial cells to AB at pH 2.5 was gradually increased according to the process of metamorphosis after XX stage. 5. The A-type and the B-type mucous glands were in the ratio of 99 : 1, 7 : 3 and 5.5 : 4.5 for each of metamorphosis XX, XXI-XXII and XXIII-XXV stages. 6. The remarkable development of the cutaneous mucous glands of the frog tadpoles might be needed to maintain water and electrolyte balances according to the change of way from aquatic life to amphibious.

  • 강자성 형상기억합금은 기존의 압전재료 및 열적 형상기억합금을 이용한 전기-열-기계적 거동의 액츄에이터 재료를 대신할 수 있는 새로운 고성능 액츄에이터 재료로서 각광을 받고 있다. 그러한 강자성 형상기억합금들 중의 한 종류로서 단결정 및 다결정 $Ni_{2}MnGa$ 합금을 이용하여 자장인가시 변형을 관찰하였다. 거대 자장 유기 변형률을 설명하기 위하여 두 모델이 제안되었다. 변태 온도보다 낮은 온도에서는 마르텐사이트 상의 재배열에 의하여 변형이 일어났으며, 그 변태온도보다 높은 온도에서는 상변태에 의한 변형이 일어났다. 미세구조 관찰을 통하여 인가 자장의 방향에 따라 우선적으로 형성되는 마르텐사이트상을 관찰하였다.

A Study on the Prediction Modeling of Phase Transformation in the CGHAZ of Structural Steel Weld (구조용강 용접부 CGHAZ의 상변태 예측 Modeling에 관한 연구)

  • The microstructures of the HAZ (Heat Affected Zone) are generally different from the base metal due to rapid thermal cycle during welding process. Particuraly, CGHAZ (Coarsened Grain Heat Affected Zone) near the fusion line is the most concerned region in which many metallurgical and mechanical discontinuities have been normally generated. A computer program by the numerical formularization of phase transformation during cooling with different rates was developed to generate the CCT diagram, and to predict microstructural (phase) changes in the CGHAZ. In order to verify simulated results, isothermal and continuous cooling transformation experiments were conducted. The simulated and experimental results showed that the developed computer model could successfully predict the room temperature microstructural changes (changes in volume fraction of phases) under various welding conditions (heat input & cooling rate $(Δt_{8/5})$).

The Effect of the Phase Transformations on the Durability of the Plasma Sprayed Thermal Barrier Coatings (플라즈마 용사에 의한 열벽코팅의 상변태가 내구성에 미치는 영향)

  • 플라즈마 용사된 열벽코팅의 수명을 평가하기 위하여 여러가지 양의 CeO$_2$(16,18,20,22,24 그리고 26 wt.% CeO$_2$)를 포함하는 지르코니아 코팅에 대한 상분석이 행하여 졌다. 플라즈마 용사된 후 16 및 18 wt.% CeO$_2$를 포함하는 지르코니아 코팅에서는 비평형 tetragonal 상 만이 생성되었으나 20-26 wt.% CeO$_2$를 포함하는 지르코니아 코팅에서는 비평형 tetragonal 및 cubic 상의 혼합상이 관찰되었다. 열순환 산화시험 동안에는 비평형 tetragonal 및 cubic 상은 평형 tetragonal 및 cubic 상으로 변태하였다. 평형 tetragonal 상의 일부는 열순환 산화시험의 냉각과정 중에 monoclinic 상으로 변태하였다. 그리고 16 wt.% CeO$_2$를 포함하는 지르코니아 코팅은 다른 조성의 지르코니아 코팅보다 열순환 산화시험 동안 더 많은 monoclinic 상이 생성되었으며 세라믹 코팅 수명이 짧았다.

Effects of Thyroid Hormones on Settlement, Survival and Growth in Olive Flounder, Paralichthys olivaceus Larvae (Thyroid hormone 처리에 의한 넙치, Paralichthys olivaceus 자어의 착저, 생존 및 성장)

  • Olive flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) larvae of pre-metamorphic and early metamorphic stage were treated with different concentrations of triiodothyroxine $(T_3)\;and\; thyroxine\;(T_4)$ by immersion (0.02, 0.04, 0.08 and 0.16 ppm) for 11 days. Although $T_3$ was more potent than $T_4,\;both\;T_3\;and\;T_4$ accelerated the settlement time of fish larvae. Duration upto complete settlement in hormone-treated groups was significantly shorter than that in controls. Survival of hormone-treated groups at the pre-metamorphic stage decreased as hormone concentrations increased, however groups treated at the early metamorphic stage were not differ from control. Growth rates of groups treated with high concentration of hormone were slightly lower than that of control except 0.02ppm $T_4$ treated group.

Early Larval Growth of Flesh Prawn (Fenneropenaeus chinensis) (대하(Fenneropenaeus chinensis)의 초기 유생성장)

  • Early larval growth for total length (TL) and body weight (BW) in flesh prawn (Fenneropenaeus chinensis) was studied from hatching to 25 days after hatching. Mean total length at nauplius and zoea stages was 0.21-0.39 mm and 0.62-1.03 mm, respectively. Mean total length of mysis stage grew from 1.28 mm (9 days after hatching) to 5.98 mm (21 days after hatching). The increase of body weight during experimental period showed step by step growth pattern due to metamorphosis of this species. The relationship between BW and TL from hatching to 25 days after hatching was BW = 2E-5TL/sup 4.1707/ (r²= 0.9746).

  • 송충(Dendrolimus spectabilis)의 변태에 따른 succinic dehydrogenase 의 활성도를 Thunberg 관법을 이용하여 측정하였다. 일반적으로 생성도의 변동은 기관발생과 밀접한 관계를 가지고있으며 각 기관에 있어서의 활성도는 아래와같다. 1. Gut는 여러 기관중 제일 높은 활성도를 보여주며 fat body 와 더불어 U자 모양 curve의 활성도를 나타내고 있다. 2. Brain 과 testis 는 상승의 활성도를 보여주었다. 3. Body wall 과 verve cord의 활성도는 불규칙적이었다.

  • 두족강(Cephalopoda)의 정자에 관한 연구는 Chun(1903)의 연구를 필두로 많은 연구가 있었다(Pickford 1940, 1957; Franzen, 1967; Young 1977; Fioroni, 1981; Boss, 1982), 이들 중 Franzen(1967)은 광학 현미경을 통해 Cephalopoda를 대상으로 여러종의 정자 변태 과정을 관찰한 바 있다. 특히 전자현미경을 사용한 연구는 1968년 Galangau와 Tuzet에 의해 시작되었고 정자의 미세구조와 상세한 변태과정이 보고되어져 왔다(Longo & Anderson, 1970; Maxwell, 1974, 1975; Fields & Thompson, 1976; Arnold & Williams-Arnold, 1978; Healy, 1988; Alvarez Perez et al. 1990).
