Study on Numerical Analysis of Estimating Elastic Modulus in Rockmass with a Consideration of Rock and Joint Characteristcs (암석 및 절리특성을 고려한 암반의 탄성계수 추정에 관한 수치해석적 연구)

  • Elastic modulus in rockmass is an important factor to represent the characteristic of rock deformation and is frequently used to estimate the displacement induced due to tunnel excavation or other activities in rockmass. Nevertheless, the study to estimate the elastic modulus, which considers the rock type and joint characteristics (joint shear strength and joint inclination angle), has been done in less frequency. Accordingly, this study is aimed at estimating of elastic modulus in jointed rockmass. For this purpose, numerical parametric studies have been carried out with a consideration of rock and joint conditions. Tunnel displacement results have been used to estimate the elastic modulus of jointed rockmass using the elastic theory of circular tunnel. From this study, the results would be expected to have a great practical use for estimating the displacement induced due to tunnel excavation or other activities in jointed rockmass.

Lumped Model Parameter Estimation of Floating Mass Transducers based on Sequential Quadratic Programming Method for IMEHDs (Sequential Quadratic Programming 방법을 이용한 인공중이용 플로팅 매스 트랜스듀서의 집중 모델 파라미터 추정)

  • In this paper, the lumped element model parameter estimation method and its implemented estimation software for fabricated floating mass transducers of IMEHDs have been presented so that the estimated parameter values could be compared with the designed ones and applied to predict the output performance when the transducers were implanted into human ears. The presented method is based on the sequential quadratic programming (SQP) for estimating parameters in the transducer's lumped model and has been implemented by the use of LabVIEW graphical language. Using the implemented estimation software, the accuracy of parameter estimation has been verified and our implemented estimation method has been evaluated by the comparison of the estimated transducer parameter values with the designed ones for a practically fabricated floating mass transducer for IMEHDs.

  • This study addresses spacecraft moment of inertial estimation approach using Modified Rodrigues Parameters(MRP). The MRP offer advantage by avoiding singularity in Kalman Filter design for attitude determination caused by the norm constraint of quaternion parameters. Meanwhile, MRP may suffer singularity for large angular displacement, so that we designed appropriate reference attitude motion for accurate estimation. The proposed approach is expected to provide stable error covariance update with accurate spacecraft mass property estimation results.

  • FRP (Fiber Reinforced Polymer) is an excellent new constructional material in resistibility to corrosion, high intensity, resistibility to fatigue, and plasticity. FBG (Fiber Bragg Grating) sensor is widely used at present as a smart sensor due to lots of advantages such as electric resistance, small-sized material, and high durability. However, with insufficiency of measuring displacement, FBG sensor is used only as a sensor measuring physical properties like strain or temperature. In this study, FRP and FBG sensors are to be hybridized, which could lead to the development of a smart FRP rod. Moreover, developing the estimated model for deflection with neural network method, with the data measured through FBG sensor, could make conquest of a disadvantage of FBG sensor - uniquely used for sensing strain. Artificial neural network is MLP (Multi-layer perceptron), trained within error rate of 0.001. Nonlinear object function and back-propagation algorithm is applied to training and this model is verified with the measured axial displacement through UTM and the estimated numerical values.

  • A force cancelling observed to control the vibration of a single degree of freedom elastic system subjected to an arbitrary, unmeasurable disturbance is considered in this paper. The main idea of a force cancelling observer is how an estimate of the excitation can be derived and used to generate a control force which reduces the vibration. This control is shown to be robust with respect to the parameters describing the behavior of the system. Experimental and numerical results are presented which show the efficacy of the observer when the system is excited by periodic, random, and impulsive torques.

  • The objective of this paper is to improve the transient response characteristics of hydraulic servosystem via a reduced-order observer which is modelled based upon the nonlinear hydraulic servosystem. The observer is a second order linear model and implemented using a 8 bit micro-computer. The performance of the observer-based hydraulic servosystem was investigated through the hybrid computer simulations and experiments. The result shows that the reduced-order observer can effectively improve the transient response characteristics of hydraulic servosystem.

  • This paper presents the process of the needle lift estimation ova common-rail injector fur HSDI(High Speed Direct Injection) diesel engines. A nonlinear mathematical model of dynamic behaviors of common-rail injector is established at first. Based on the mathematical model of the common-rail injector, the methodology of estimating the injector needle lift is introduced. A sliding mode observer is applied to overcome the model uncertainties. The common-rail injector model and the needle lift estimator are verified by simulations and experiments. The simulation and experimental results indicate that the model outputs are in a good agreement with experimental data, and the proposed nonlinear sliding observer can effectively estimate the needle lift.

  • 본 연구에서의 측정 대상인 공주지점은 금강 본류로 홍수 예 경보 지점이며, 그 하상이 대부분 모래로 구성된 충적하천으로 간주된다. 유사량 측정은 강우가 집중되는 6$\sim$9월의 홍수기(25회)와 이를 기준으로 전 후시기인 저 평수기(2회)로 나누어 총 27회로 측정하였고 부유사량(D-74, P-61A: 수심적분법), 하상토(BM-54, 홍수기전 후 2회 채취), 수리량(수위, 유속, 측정수심, 수면폭, 수면경사, 수온)등의 실측자료를 이용하여 미측정구간의 유사량을 포함한 총유사량을 추정(실측+계산; Modified Einstein, 간접계산; Engelund & Hansen, Yang, Ackers & White)하였다. 이러한 분석결과를 가지고 유량-부유사농도와 부유사량 및 총유사량 관계에 대해 살펴보았다. 전체적으로 유량에 대한 측정성과들의 변위와 저유량시 산포도에 있어 다소 큰 경향을 보였고, 주요 강우사상별로 보았을 때 루프(Loop)현상을 볼 수 있었다. 이러한 분석결과의 상충은 하천의 수리, 유사특성과 추정방법의 적용한계 등의 서로 다른 제한된 범위의 자료들을 이용하여 분석하는 데서 오는 차이, 특히 유량, 수심, 하상토의 입경크기 등 자료의 범위가 추정공식들이 추천하는 범위에서 벗어났기 때문인데, 이는 총유사량 공식에 대한 범용성이 적다는 것을 의미한다.

Performance Improvement of Towed Array Shape Estimation Using Interpolation (보간법을 이용한 견인 어레이 형상 추정 기법의 성능 개선)

  • A calibration technique is proposed to improve the performance of 2-D towed array shape estimation using the Kalman filter. In the case of using displacement sensors, 2-D hydrophone positions estimated by the Kalman filter are calculated by assuming that the adjacent hydrophones are horizontally equi-spaced so that maximum distance is equal to the array length. The assumption causes errors in estimating hydrophone positions. The proposed technique using linear model approximation or spline interpolation can reduce the errors by exploiting the fact that the whole length of array is preserved whatever the array shape is. The numerical experiments show that the proposed method is very effective.

  • In this paper, we propose a multi target's elevation angle estimation method using multi beam forming technique. This method make a stacked beam to digital processing a received signal in array element. There can be desired receiving beam to application weight value at antenna element in beam forming. Currently, we are to make multi stacked beam using fast fourier transform in stead of phase shifter to be a computer performance much improvement. Also, we improve multi beam directivity using beam steering error correction technique in order to beam steering to desired direction in receiver. Through simulation, we show that the proposed elevation estimation method based on fast fourier transform and beam steering error correction technique, improves th performance of target estimation compared to previous method.
