Study on Investigation and Analysis about Damage of Tunnels (국내외 터널구조물의 변상에 관한 조사 및 분석)

  • In this study, we carried out investigation and analysis on damages in tunnels on order to provide the basic information for the safety assessment of tunnels and to minimize the potential damage of the same kind as investigated. The frequencies of occurrence in terms of 4 items, i.e., service life interval, type of the damage, cause of the damage, and geological condition, were examined and summarized based on 44 foreign and domestic cases of tunnel damages. Also, we carried out a survey research of which the content included 28 questions on the tunnel safety assessment. The answers collected from domestic experts in tunneling suggested that the most probable cause of the tunnel damages was cracking in tunnels at 42~58%. They also suggested that the poor constrution work strongly caused the damages. Therefore, to ensure tunnel safety, high quality of constrution should be maintained as examined. The types of damage and their extent of influence on the overall tunnel safety are of practical importance to be used in the artficial intelligent system for tunnel safety assessment.

  • 한국천문연구원과 사단범인 한국아마추어천문학회는 사이언스 코리아 건설과 아마추어 천문학의 저변 확대를 위해 '아마추어 천문인 공로상'을 제정하여 올해 첫 시행했다.올해는 과거 30년 간 아마추어 천문 활동에 대해 심사를 하였다. 그 결과 오랫동안 청소년 천문 교육에 힘쓰고 있는 변상식 소장에게 수여되었다.우리나라 아마추어 천문의 태동기 때부터 지금까지 함께 하고 있는 아마추어 천문의 산 증인인 변상식 소장을 만났다.

An Experimental Study on the Prediction of Progressive Cracking around Tunnel Fallout (터널 변상부 주변 진행성 예측에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • An estimation method of the fallout volume of a tunnel under construction is proposed based on an empirical method called bulking factor. For this, the main causes of the tunnel fallout are investigated and the scale of the fallout which is not accessible is considered. The calculated height of the fallout area is compared with borehole core data and the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed method is demonstrated. Another experimental approach on the detection of a progressive cracking around the tunnel fallout is provided based on an acoustic emission method. From the field tests near the tunnel fallout, it is shown that additional progressive cracking of the reinforced area is not foreseen and the effectiveness of the reinforcement is proven.

  • One of the major roles of concrete lining is the supplementary support of ground load. Therefore, if there are cracks or deformation found in the lining, the causes should be carefully examined. Tunnel Soundness Evaluation System (DW-TSES) was developed to meet such requirements. Main facility of the system was intended to find the probable causes on the basis of the apparent changes in lining and the environmental conditions. It also includes facilities for evaluating the soundness of a tunnel and indicating the method for repair or reinforcement. The characteristic feature of damages is used for reasoning in case of deterioration and leakage, and artificial neural network is used in external pressure. This process depends on the results of the case analyses and FDM, which have a collection of the typical features of different types of damages as well as the unusual changes caused by the external pressure. The comparison of the outputs of this system with those of expert's diagnoses draws the following conclusions. 1) Artificial neural network was a suitable tool to find to causes of damages by external pressure. 2) The environmental conditions improved the accuracy in reasoning. 3) The result of finding causes and evaluating soundness was helpful to suggest effective methods concerning tunnel maintenance.

  • After construction, time-variant seepage and long-term underground motion are representative factors to understand the abnormal behavior of tunnels. In this study, numerical models have been developed to analyze the behavior of tunnels associated with seepage and long-term underground motion. Possible scenarios have been investigated to establish causes-and-results mechanisms. Various parameters such as permeability of tunnel filter, seepage condition, water table, long-term rock mass load, size of damaged zone due to excessive blasting have been investigated. These are divided into two sub-parts depending on the tunnel type and major loading mechanisms depending on the types. For the soft ground tunnels, the behavior associated with seepage conditions has been studied and the effect of permeability change in tunnel-filter and the effect of water-table change which are seldom measurable are investigated in detail. For the rock mass tunnels, tunnel behavior associated with the visco-plastic behavior of rock mass has been studied and the long-term rock mass loads as a result of relaxation and creep have been considered.

  • 본 논문에서는 등가소성힌지길이 개념을 새롭게 개선하여 도입함하여 구조물의 거동특성을 평가하는 프로그램을 개발하였다. 시간의 경과 및 외부환경 변화와 더불어 발생 가능한 지하구조물의 변상은 해당 구조물의 구성재료 및 작용하는 외압의 형태 등에 의해 다르게 나타나게 된다. 즉, 장기적인 지반외력의 변화에 의해 콘크리트 구조체의 천단부에 큰 휨압축응력과 인장을력이 생기는데, 내측에는 압축이 생기고 외측에는 인장균열이 발생한다. 또한 측벽이나 어깨부에서는 인장응력과 전단응력에 의한 균열이 발생하기도 한다. 따라서 개발된 프로그램으로 균열발생단면에 대하여 축력, 휨모멘트, 균열폭을 서로 연관 지을 수 있게 될 뿐만 아니라 균열폭의 확장을 추적해 나갈 수 있다. 해석기법을 토대로 개발된 해석모듈을 이용하여, 본 해석 기법의 타당성에 대한 검증을 실시하였다. 검증을 위해서는 수평보구조와 터널구조에 대해 각각 해석을 수행하였다. 그 결과, 구조물 내에서의 균열의 진전이 점차적으로 확장되어 가는 것이 표현 가능한 것을 확인하였으며, 해석결과의 타당성을 확인하였다.

  • 터널은 일종의 지하구조물로서 지형, 지질, 기후 및 기상 등과 같이 영향을 미칠 수 있는 주변환경이 매우 다양할 뿐만 아니라 예기치 못한 외력이 작용하여 구조물에 중대한 문제를 유발할 수도 있는데, 현재 상황으로는 여러 안전진단보고서에서 볼 수 있는 바와 같이 터널에 발생한 일련의 변상현상을 분석하여 그 원인을 규명하고 적절한 보수보강대책을 마련함으로써 예상치 못한 변상에 대한 터널 안전성을 확보하는 작업에 초점이 맞추어지고 있다. (중략)
