  • This study is to estimate the link travel time of road networks in urban areas utilizing traffic information which is collected throughout the operation of Bus Information System (BIS). BIS, which applies the hightech information technology to an existing bus system, has been developing and operating in many bodies including the local self-government entities. However, a study to consider the technology trend is relatively rare. Even though some useful traffic informations have been collected throughout the operation of an existing BIS, which set limits to the development of a future service of integrated analysis. Accordingly, in this study, a fundamental research is performed for traffic controls in urban areas and providing a traffic information for driver throughout the estimation of link travel time of road networks. The study is proceeded throughout the data collected from the operation of BIS (Bus Information System). The result showed that the patterns of going through traffic were divided up to 2 in the bus travel time in BIS then estimate two link travel time.

  • Bus splitting technique reduces bus energy by placing modules with frequent communications closely and using necessary bus segments in communications. But, previous bus splitting techniques can not be used in MPSoC platform, because it uses cache coherency protocol and all processors should be able to see the bus transactions. In this paper, we propose a bus splitting technique for MPSoC platform to reduce bus energy. The proposed technique divides a bus into several bus segments, some for private memory and others for shared memory. So, it minimizes the bus energy consumed in private memory accesses without producing cache coherency problem. We also propose a task allocation technique considering cache coherency protocol. It allocates tasks into processors according to the numbers of bus transactions and cache coherence protocol, and reduces the bus energy consumption during shared memory references. The experimental results from simulations say the bus splitting technique reduces maximal 83% of the bus energy consumption by private memory accesses. Also they show the task allocation technique reduces maximal 30% of bus energy consumed in shared memory references. We can expect the bus splitting technique and the task allocation technique can be used in multiprocessor platforms to reduce bus energy without interference with cache coherency protocol.

  • Smart card data is widely used in the public transportation field. Despite the inevitability of various errors occur during the data collection and storage; however, smart card data errors have not been extensively studied. This paper investigates inherent errors in boarding and alighting station information in smart card data. A comparison smart card data and bus boarding and alighting survey data for the same time frame shows that boarding station names differ by 6.2% between the two data sets. This indicates that the error rate of smart card data is 6.2% in terms of boarding station information, given that bus boarding and alighting survey data can be considered as ground truth. This paper propose 6-step algorithm for correcting errors in smart card boarding station information, linking them to corresponding information in Bus Information System(BIS) Data. Comparing BIS data and bus boarding and alighting survey data for the same time frame reveals that boarding station names correspond by 98.3% between the two data sets, indicating that BIS data can be used as reliable reference for ground truth. To evaluate its performance, applying the 6-step algorithm proposed in this paper to smart card data set shows that the error rate of boarding station information is reduced from 6.2% to 1.0%, resulting in a 5.2%p improvement in the accuracy of smart card data. It is expected that the proposed algorithm will enhance the process of adjusting bus routes and making decisions related to public transportation infrastructure investments.

  • A software birthmark is a set of characteristics that are extracted from a program itself to detect code theft. A dynamic API birthmark is extracted from the run-time API call sequences of a program. The dynamic Windows API birthmarks of Tamada et al. are extracted from API call sequences during the startup period of a program. Therefore. the dynamic birthmarks cannot reflect characteristics of main functions of the program. In this paper. we propose a functional unit birthmark(FDAPI) that is defined as API call sequences recorded during the execution of essential functions of a program. To find out that some functional units of a program are copied from an original program. two FDAPIs are extracted by executing the programs with the same input. The FDAPIs are compared using the semi-global alignment algorithm to compute a similarity between two programs. Programs with the same functionality are compared to show credibility of our birthmark. Binary executables that are compiled differently from the same source code are compared to prove resilience of our birthmark. The experimental result shows that our birthmark can detect module theft of software. to which the existing birthmarks of Tamada et al. cannot be applied.
