A Study on the 3D Digital Restoration Technology Using a Shard of a Joseon Dynasty White Porcelain Water Dropper (조선시대 백자 연적 편(片)을 활용한 3차원 디지털 복원 기술 연구)

  • The restoration of ceramics excavated in fragments is limited by the difficulty of inferring the overall shape of the original object. However, recent innovations in digital technology can help to overcome the limits of conventional restoration using handwork. This study explored the potential of digital technology by digitally restoring a shard from a white porcelain water dropper excavated at a kiln site at Sindae-ri. In order to complete the digital restoration, 3D scanning was applied to obtain scan data, and 3D modeling and texture mapping were performed. In this way, three-dimensional data with patterns and color information was acquired and the original form of the water dropper could be ascertained based on the shard. The study found that the data acquired from digital restoration can be used for various purposes, including for obtaining data on cross-sections or missing portions of a relic.

  • The kiln at Chollanamdo Kwangjusi Ch'unghyodong, which produced punch'ong and white wares for a period of 70 to 80 years in the 15th century, is examined for their scientific technological param-eters. Punch'ong sherds were divided into seven different groups according to the location and the layer of the waste mounds from which they were excavated. Optical and scanning electron microscope were used for microstructural observations and X-ray diffraction and polarized microscope for mineral characteristics. For determining the firing temperature, sherds were refired at different temperatures and their micro-structural changes were observed. Some wares such as the group CHE2 was high quality wares fired at high emperature around 1200$^{\circ}C$ for palace use, but as the ceramics ware became more widely used and the white wares increasingly preferred over punch'ong, lower quality wares of rougher raw materials were firedat lower temperatures around 1100-1150$^{\circ}C$ in quantity. They used local raw materials of several types, all available locally.

  • In cases, such as white porcelain with openwork lotus scroll design, where the ceramics has intricate form and decorations, we normally use casts to restore the work, in that current restoration materials have short molding time which causes difficulties in delicate work. However, since using a cast for restoration requires longer work-time and uses more materials, we decided to restore in direct. Since the molding time in the restoration material is closely related to the workability, restoration material which secures longer work hours is necessary when directly restoring a complex form of body. Therefore we experimented on the work-time, color variation and workability as time passes by making mixtures of Epoxy putty and Baked clay in different ratios. As a result of the experiment, the mixture ratio of OS8:RQ2 turned out to be the most effective ratio.

  • In this study, the patterns expressed on nineteenth-century blue and white porcelain among Joseon white porcelain were selected as the material for the development of the car seat fabric design. It was intended to be applied to car seat design by incorporating Korea's own traditional patterns to fit modern sensibility. First, seven pieces of nineteenth-century blue and white porcelain were selected through the literature, and motifs were produced using adobe illustrator, a computer graphic program. Seven car seat fabric designs were developed according to the construction method and development method of the produced motif. Work 1 was designed to elicit a soft and feminine atmosphere using the peony pattern shown in Table 1-1. Work 2 aimed to express a luxurious atmosphere using the image of the mountain expressed in Table 1-2 as a design material. Works 3 was designed by freely arranging the letters of luck expressed in Table 1-3 to form a free and dynamic image. Work 4 was intended to express a stable and rhythmic atmosphere by horizontally arranging the images of the gently curved wings, tail, and rhythmical tail feathers of the phoenix expressed in Table 1-4. Work 5 was designed in a vertical arrangement using the patterns and silhouettes of the tiger's back expressed in Table 1-5. Work 6 was designed using the wave pattern expressed in Table 1-6 to replicate the rhythmic atmosphere. Work 7 was designed using the images of rocks, waves, and the sun in Table 1-7 to express a calm and antique atmosphere.

A Inquiry of Zhang Bo-duan's Writings (장백단(張伯端)의 저술고(著述考))

  • Zhang Bo-duan compiled about internal alchemy in Taoism. Although he lived in the mundane world, he wished to seek theory on neidan of Taoism(internal alchemy). After finding enlightenment, he elucidated that the enlightenment was a state of rising above world not needed to leave the world. After ages, he was admired as the founder of Taoism in Southern school and his Oh Jin Peon which contents internal alchemy was considered seriously to have more than 30 people who annotated with it until Ch'ing Empire. At his age of 80, he met the real person who gave him theory on neidan of Taoism(internal alchemy), its preface tells that he organized its main point, and then wrote Oh Jin Peon with it in 1075. Generally Zhang Bo-duan was known to leave three books as Oh Jin Peon, Guem Dan Sa Baek Ja, and Cheung Hwa Bi Mun, most of critics have been studying on the basis of them. However, it is not correct whether all of them is his writings and there is not exact analysis but simple belief about it. I think accuracy and details are indispensible in philosophical approach. The study not having verification about primary data is no more than a visionary projet which soon collapses. So the purpose of this study is adding the detail analysis on it and making its exact basis of philosophical approach. Zhang Bo-duan over his age of 80, became enlightened, in his old age handed down his student the secret as a record and theory on neidan of Taoism(internal alchemy). And not in his living but after his dying his status was soared. Because of his high status in internal alchemy Taoism, it seems that there are more interest in it and some published books which just leave his name. In this study, I accept Oh Jin Peon as a his real writing among unsure his writings and criticize systematically and classify its characteristics. And I demonstrate that Guem Dan Sa Baek Ja, Cheung Hwa Bi Mun couldn't be his real writings, these could be forgeries by posterity, with proposing some basis of the argument.

초정밀가공기술의 현황과 전망

  • Micro-electronics를 핵으로 하는 기술혁신의 물결이 눈부시고, 우리 주변의 일상생활이 하루가 다르게 변해 가고 있다. Leading-edge technology, high technology, advanced technology 등으로 호칭되는 일군의 새로운 기술의 절대적 level이 현재 어디에 위치해 있는지 확인 조차 하기 어렵고 첨단기술 제품의 성능에 넋을 잃을 지경이 지만 고려청자나 이조백자에 대해서는 현재의 기술을 가지고도 그 재현이 곤란하다. 이와 같이 시차의 이중성 속에서 제품의 부가가치를 높이고 생산성을 올리기 위해서는 가공기술의 고도화를 가하지 않으면 안된다. 어떤 소재를 설계된 모양대로 변화시키는 일련의 과정을 가공이라 한다면 이에는 변형가공(주조, 소성가공), 부가가공(용접), 제거가공(절삭, 연삭)등을 생각할 수 있으며 이들 사이의 가공정도의 개략치는 다음과 같다. (그림.1 가공공정에 따른 가공정도) 공작물에 요구되는 가공정도는 시대의 변천과 더불어 level up되고 이를 위한 기술 개발이 부단히 이어오고 있다. 1960-70 년대의 생산가공 기술은 .mu. m 단위인 $10^{-5}$--$10^{-6}$m의 범위의 가공정도를 생산 line으로 실현하는 것이 중점 개발 목표였다. 그러나, 현재는 $10^{-5}$--$10^{-7}$m를 목표로 한 submicron 가공정도 실용기에 들어서고 있다.

  • 본 논문에서는 일간 시간대별 에너지저장장치 (Energy Storage System, ESS) 최적 충 방전량 스케줄링을 이용하여 계통연계형 마이크로그리드 내에 설치되는 ESS의 용량을 산정한다. 대상 마이크로그리드의 과거 부하데이터를 이용하여 절감하고자 하는 양을 정하고, 이를 이용하여 전력변환장치(Power Conditioning System, PCS)의 정격출력량을 산정한다. ESS용량의 기준점을 정하여 이분법 적용구간을 설정하고, 반복연산을 통해 최적 ESS용량을 찾는 과정을 제시한다.

  • Traditional patterns of Korea vary greatly and have excellent value in terms of artistic merit. Nevertheless because there are not enough the research and development of them, traditional patterns of Korea are not yet recognized in internationally aesthetic value. Therefore the development of designs modernizing traditional patterns of Korea is urgently needed. In this study, I chose Four gracious plants as the subject materials of textile design development. Before everything I examined data of Four gracious plants expressed on Blue and white porcelain. And I chose data that are suitable to express modern image among them. I set my face to develop the textile design of Korean images by adding modern scenes with them. Also, I were trying to make fashion products like muffler and tie by using techniques such as burn out, crayon dying and spray dyeing.

  • The aim of this thesis is to study how tableware china has developed, on the basis of social and cultural changes, during the latter period of Chosun Dynasty. First, general sociological background of Chosun Dynasty has been reviewed. To examine the kinds of tableware china and their use during this period, this thesis is based on Asakawa Dakumis 'A ceramic ware of Chosun Dynasty' one of the most thorough references available in the field. Various antiques and remains of different periods were compared to study the changes in tableware china types and uses In conclusion, the development in food culture brought the changes in tableware china. Tableware china and food has developed together complementarily throughout the latter period of Chosun Dynasty.
