In this paper, a systematic demapping algorithm for three-dimensional (3-D) lattice signal constellations is presented. The algorithm consists of decision of an octant, computation of a distance from the origin, and determination of the coordinates of a symbol. Since the algorithm can be extended systematically, it is applicable to the larger lattice constellations. To verify the algorithm, 3-D signal transmission systems with field programmable gate array (FPGA) and $Matlab^{(R)}$ are implemented. And they are exploited to carry out computer simulation. As a result, both hardware and software based systems produce almost the same symbol error rates (SERs) in an additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) environment. In addition, the hardware based system implemented with an FPGA generates waveforms of 3-D signals and recovers the original binary sequences perfectly. Those results confirm that the algorithm and the implemented 3-D transmission system operate correctly.

In this paper, the effects of LLR (Log-Likelihood Ratio) approximation on LDPC (Low-Density Parity-Check) decoder performance are analyzed, and optimal design conditions of LDPC decoder are derived. The min-sum LDPC decoding algorithm which is based on an approximation of LLR sum-product algorithm is modeled and simulated by MATLAB, and it is analyzed that the effects of LLR approximation bit-width and maximum iteration cycles on the bit error rate (BER) performance of LDCP decoder. The parity check matrix for IEEE 802.11n standard which has block length of 1,944 bits and code rate of 1/2 is used, and AWGN channel with QPSK modulation is assumed. The simulation results show that optimal BER performance is achieved for 7 iteration cycles and LLR bit-width of (7,5).
In this paper, we propose a Reverse Differential Chaos Shift Keying (RE-DCSK) system for low cost, high reliability and high data rate non-coherent chaos communication .In RE-DCSK, reference signals are transmitted in the first slot as in the conventional differential chaos shift modulation scheme (DCSK) and in the second slot a time inversion block strengthens the autocorrelation of the chaos signal and uses the orthogonality of the two signals to obtain the information signal. RE-DCSK enables relatively double the data rate compared to DCSK and also improves the security of communications without any additional cost of system complexity. To prove its effectiveness, we analyze it through Rayleigh fading channel and additional white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel based on the derived BER expression. The BER performance of the proposed system is improved when compared with the CDSK and DCSK system using AWGN channel.
There are two major factors of degrading the performance in the forward link of DS/CDMA systems. One is the multiple access interference (MAI) caused by using the same frequency bands simultaneously and the other is the multipath lading due to multipath propagation. PN codes which have minimum cross correlation properties among spread spectrum codes are necessary to reduce the MAI. In the conventional IS-95A system, the PN sequence has the period of $2^{15}$ and is of the length of 64 chips for spreading each data. In this case, since the length of PN code per bit is very short compared to the period of the PN code, the performance of the conventional system is not satisfied in view of suppressing the multipath interference. However, the correlation property of the PN codes at the demodulation can be improved by increasing the interval of Integration at the demodulation. This paper proposes a demodulation method to reduce the cross correlation among PN codes. The performance of the proposed demodulation method is investigated through computer simulations. We used multipath Ray lading channel and AWGN channel in the simulation. Our simulation results show the improved performance of $0.25{\sim}0.5dB$ SNR in a given BER compared to the conventional demodulation scheme.

In a single frequency network (SFN) for Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) terrestrial digital television (DTV) system, the interferences induced by the multiple transmitters and/or repeaters using the same frequency are inevitable. Since the presence of interferences results in performance degradation of the SFN, it is crucial to manipulate the interferences by adjusting the transmit power and timing of each transmitter and repeater. In the ATSC terrestrial DTV system, in order to facilitate the interference manipulation process, a transmitter identification (TxID) signal which is uniquely embedded in the signal to be transmitted from each transmitter and repeater is recommended. Even though the injection level of the TxID signal is much lower than the DTV signal, the TxID signal injection infects the DTV signal. Hence, the effect of the TxID signal on the DTV signal must be investigated before deployment. In this paper, the effect of the TxID signal on the performance of legacy DTV receivers under additive white Gaussian noise and multipath channel environments is investigated not only with computer simulation but also with laboratory and field tests. The test results show that the average threshold of visibility degradation of the legacy DTV receivers due to the TxID signal injection is less than 0.2 dB at the TxID injection level of -30 dB.

In the unmanned vehicle industry, the market is exploding due to the rapid development of public and private demands along with the technological development of the 4th Industrial Revolution. In addition, unmanned mobiles are being used for communication services. In this paper, we analyzed the communication performance of unmanned aerial vehicle according to the characteristics of Doppler frequency. The Doppler frequency was calculated using the geometric model of the unmanned aerial vehicle, and the Doppler frequency of 10km, 30km, 300km, 1000km per hour and the BER performance by AWGN were measured by considering the unmanned high speed unmanned vehicle based on the position of the controller. The Doppler frequency model uses a Dent model and adds additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) to check the bit errors of the transmitter and receiver. Low speed unmanned vehicles generally exhibited a BER performance of 0.2, while high speed unmanned vehicles generally exhibited a BER performance of 0.06. As the frequency band increases at the same speed, the BER performance increases, and when the speed increases in the same frequency band, the BER performance decreases. This is confirmed by the simulation results to predict theoretically predictable BER performance. In the frequency bands of 2.6 GHz, 5 GHz, and 28 GHz, the BER characteristics by Doppler frequency and the BER characteristics by controller function are verified. effect was confirmed.

In this paper, design of a new 3-dimensional (3-D) 16-ary signal constellation with constant envelope is presented and analyzed. Unlike the conventional 16-ary constellations, all signal points of the new constellation are uniformly located on the surface of a sphere so that they have a unique amplitude level and a symmetrical structure. When average power of the constellations is normalized, the presented 16-ary constellation has around 11.4% increased minimum Euclidean distance (MED) as compared to the conventional ones that have non-constant envelope. As a result, a digital communication system which exploits the presented constellation has 1.2dB improved symbol error rate (SER). While signal points of the conventional constant-envelope constellation are not distributed uniformly on the surface of a sphere, those of the proposed constellation has a completely symmetric distribution. In addition, the new signal constellation has much lower computational complexity for practical implementation than the conventional one. Hence, the proposed 3-D 16-ary signal constellation is appropriate for the application to a communication system which strongly requires a constant-envelope characteristic.

This paper presents a new image rejection algorithm based on the analysis of the distortion of a single-frequency continuous-wave (CW) signal due to the I/Q mismatch. Existing methods estimated the gain mismatch and phase mismatch on RF receivers and compensated them However, this paper shows that the circular trajectory of a single-frequency CW signal is distorted elliptic-type trajectory due to the I/Q mismatch. Utilizing the analysis, we propose a I/Q mismatch compensation method. It has two processing steps. In the first processing step, the generated signal is rotated to align the major axis of the elliptic-type trajectory diagram with the x-axis. In the second processing step, the Q-channel signal in the regenerated signal is scaled to align the regenerated signal with the transmitted single-frequency CW signal. Simulation results show that a receiver using the proposed image rejection algorithm can achieve an image rejection ratio of more than 70dB. And, simulation results show that the bit error rate performances of receivers using the proposed image rejection algorithm are almost the same as those of conventional coherent demodulators, even in fading channels.

This paper proposes the Signal Quality Indicator (SQI) to certify the wired communication channels connected between sub-systems embedded in guided flight systems. The communication signals can be distorted due to the poor interconnections of wired channels, the interference from the signals passing through the adjacent routed channels, and additive white Gaussian noises. As the ways to find out the condition of the communication channels, we present the Hamming distance based SQI (H-SQI) and the Euclidean distance based SQI (E-SQI). Two SQIs are compared in terms of the SQI resolution performance and the required number of hardware resources for implementations. The E-SQI requires the 10 times FPGA resources and an additional analog-digital converter over the H-SQI in spite of its outstanding SQI resolution performance. Moreover, the H-SQI could have the enough SQI resolution performance to find out the channel condition by increasing the oversampling rate, so the H-SQI is the more adequate than the E-SQI for the SQI of the guided flight systems.
This paper presents cell ID (cell identity) detection schemes using PSS/SSS (primary synchronization signal/secondary synchronization signal) for 5G NR (new radio) system and evaluates the detection performance. In this paper, we consider two cell ID detection schemes, i.e. two-stage detection and joint detection schemes. The two-stage detection scheme consists of two stages which estimate a channel gain between a transmitter and receiver and detect the PSS and SSS sequences. The joint detection scheme jointly detects the PSS and SSS sequences. In addition, this paper presents coherent and non-coherent combining schemes. The coherent scheme calculates the correlation value for the total length of the given PSS and SSS sequences, and the non-coherent combining scheme calculates the correlation within each group by dividing the total length of the sequence into several groups and then combines them non-coherently. For the detection schemes considered in this paper, the detection error rates of PSS, SSS and overall cell ID are evaluated and compared through computer simulations. The simulation results show that the joint detection scheme outperforms the two-stage detection scheme for both coherent and non-coherent combining schemes, but the two-stage detection scheme can greatly reduce the computational complexity compared to the joint detection scheme. In addition, the non-coherent combining detection scheme shows better performance under the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN), fixed, and mobile environments.
