A Study on Weatherability with Particle Size and Orientation of Aluminum in Pre-painted Basecoat for Automotive (자동차용 선도장 베이스코트에서 알루미늄 입자 크기와 배향에 따른 내후성 연구)

  • Weatherability was examined according to aluminum particle size and its orientation used in PCM(Paint Coated Metal). Substrate delamination was checked by different UV transmission rate with QUV$^{(R)}$ (Q-LAB) equipment that can make accelerated UV irradiation. Film was prepared using three different types of conflake aluminum pastes under a PCM coating process and clearcoat was sprayed. UV transmission test results showed low transmission rate when EKART #790 having the smallest particle size and horizontal orientation was used. From the gloss retention results, gloss retention was highest in EKART #790 and followed by #770, #750.

  • Poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) and gelatin (GEL) blend membranes were prepared by solution casting method under a high electric field. SEM observation of the membrane showed that gelatin rich domains were elongated and oriented to the direction of the applied electric field in PVA matrix. This can be attributed to the electrostatic emulsifying effects due to a reduction in interfacial tension. In addition, it was observed through WAXD and swelling measurements that the degree of crystallinity of membranes increased with applied electric field strength. This may be interpreted to be caused by the orientation effect of GEL domains in the blend membrane, and the self-annealing effect due to some heat generated from high electric field during casting.

  • Sputter deposited CoCr(Mo)/Si film were studied with emphasis on the correlation between magnetic properties and crystallographic orientation. The perpendicular coercivities of CoCr films decreased with Si underlayer thickness, whereas those of CoCrMo films increased with Si underlayer thickness. It has been explained that additions of the larger atomic radius Mo atoms in CoCr films impedes crystal growth resulting in a decrease in grain size, thus this small grain size may induce high perpendicular coercivity. The c-axis alignment of CoCrMo film was improved due to addition of 2at.%Mo. It means CoCrMo layer grow self-epitaxial directly from orientation and structure of Si underlayer when the main layer grow on underlayer.

  • 탄소나노튜브(carbon nanotubes; CNTs)는 우수한 물성으로 인하여 전자소자, 에너지 저장매체, 투명전도막, 복합재료 등 매우 다양한 분야에 응용이 가능할 것으로 예측되고 있으며, 더욱이 이러한 특성은 구조변형, 화학적 도핑뿐만 아니라 표면처리를 통해서 제어가 가능하다고 알려져 있다. 이를 위해 기존에는 열처리를 통하여 CNTs를 표면처리한 결과들이 보고되었으나, 고온에서 장시간의 공정이 요구되는 열처리 공정의 단점을 보완하기 위하여 플라즈마 처리를 통해 상온에서 단시간의 공정으로 CNTs를 표면처리하는 방법이 제시되었다. 특히 최근에는, 향후 산업적 응용을 목적으로 종래의 진공 환경에서 벗어나 대기압 연속공정 개발을 위한 대기압 플라즈마 기반의 표면처리 공정에 대하여 관심이 집중되고 있는 상황이다. 본 연구에서는 대기압에서 플라즈마를 안정적으로 방전 및 유지 할 수 있는 플라즈마 토치 시스템을 구축하였고, 이를 이용하여 수직배향 CNTs를 표면 처리함으로써 그 영향을 살펴보았다. CNTs는 $SiO_2$ 웨이퍼 위에 증착한 철 촉매를 이용하여 $750^{\circ}C$에서 수직배향 합성하였으며, 원료가스로는 아세틸렌을 사용하였다. 대기압 플라즈마 장치의 경우 고전압 교류 전원장치를 이용하여 토치타입으로 제작하였다. 플라즈마는 아르곤과 질소가스를 시용하여 방전하고, 기판과의 거리 및 처리시간을 변수로 CNTs를 표면처리하였다. 플라즈마 처리 전후 접촉각 측정을 통하여 소수성이었던 CNTs 표면이 친수성으로 변화하는 것을 확인하였다. 또한 Raman 분석을 통하여 대기압 플라즈마의 처리조건에 따른 CNTs 의 구조적 결함 발생 정도를 정량화 시킬 수 있었다. 이를 통하여 대기압 플라즈마를 이용할 경우, CNTs의 구조적 손상을 최소화 하면서 효율적으로 표면특성을 변화시킬 수 있는 처리조건을 도출하였다.

The Growth of Pt(200) Thin Films on Si Substrate by DC Magnetron Sputtering (Si 기판상에 DC 마그네트론 스퍼터링방식에 의한 Pt(200) 박막의 배향성장)

  • DC마그네트론 스퍼터링 방식으로 $Ti/SiO_2$/Si 구조 위에 Pt(200) 박막을 배향 성장시키기 위해 증착조건(스퍼터링 가스의 종류와 압력, 기판의 온도)과 후속열처리(RTA, Furnace annealing)에 따른 Pt 박막의 전기, 결정학적 특성을 조사하였다. 실험결과, 20mTorr의 Ar+O$_2$(20%)의 혼합가스 분위기에서 기판온도를 $500^{\circ}C$로 유지하여 Pt박막을 증착하고$ 600^{\circ}C$에서 30초간 급속 열처리를 실시한 경우, 90% 이상의 결정 배항도를 갖는 Pt(200) 박막을 제작할 수 있었다. 제작된 Pt(200) 박막은 $30~40\mu$Ω.cm의 낮은 전기저항율과 우수한 열적 안정성을 나타내었으며$ 600^{\circ}C$의 고온에서 장시간 열처리를 실시하여도 전기저항율이나 우선 배향성의 변화, 박막내 미세 결함 및 열적응집현상 등이 발생되지 않았다.

  • The aim of this research is to evaluate the relationship between the total effective moment $(M^E)$ and Bemoulli-Euler bending moment (M) when the ply orientations of UD CFRP in Piezoelectric Zirconate Titanate Composite Actuator (PZTCA) are changed. The obtained results as follows. Firstly, as the performance test results by the CFRP ply orientation, the performance of [0] and [90] were stable. However, while the performance of [+45] was suddenly decreased after 5 hours. Secondly, the change of $M^E$ by the CFRP ply orientation was evaluated. As the CFRP ply orientation was increased from [0] to [+60], the $M^E$ were gradually decreased. However, they became a little bit increased from [+60] to [90]. Finally, after the change of M by the CFRP ply orientation was evaluated, it was found that $M^E=2.2M$ was valid for just [0] and that there was a relationship between $M^E$ and M according to the ply orientation.

  • During the compression molding process of the continuous fiber-reinforced polymeric composites, two main problems such as fiber-matrix separation and fiber orientation are produced by the difference of flow velocity. Molded parts are lead to be nonhomogeneous and anisotropic. As the mechanical property of the products are dependent on the separation and orientation, it is important to research the fiber mat structure and molding condition. If the fiber mat structure is changed by the increment of needling, the separation decreases and after compression molding the orientation is easily aligned. As it were, the compression moldability is good. But the defects as tears, thin thickness are produced in the products. Therefore, it is important to clarify the moldability in relation to the usage of products and the expenses of produce on the actual process. Therefore we must make the measurement methods that can define the moldability of products. In this research, the effects of the fiber mat structure(NP = 0, 5, 10, 25, 50 punches/$cm^2$) and the mold geometry($r_p$ = 1, 25, 50 mm) on the moldability of products were discussed. We investigated the case of one-dimensional flow in order to obtain the degree of nonhomogeneity and the fiber orientation function. In result, we could gain the correlation coefficient of the continuous fiber-reinforced polymeric composites. Also we experimented on the cup-type compression molding which was appeared the wrinkle on the flange part by the complex stress condition in order to gain the degree of nonhomogeneity and area ratio. In result, the moldability of products was expressed as the correlation coefficient and area ratio.

Preparation of a axis oriented $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-\delta}$ thin films by RF magnetron sputtering (RF 마그네트론 스퍼터링법에 의한 a-축 배향 $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-\delta}$박막의 제조)

  • A-axis oriened YBCO thin flims were grown on $LaAIO_{3}$ single crystal substrate by off-axis rf magnetron sputtering method. We used two kinds of process to get a-axis oriented fi1ms;one-step process and two-step process. In one-step process, films are grown in single step in which substrate temperature( $T_s$) is in the range of $590^{\circ}C$ to $680^{\circ}C$. On the other hand, in two step process a-axis oriented thin film templates i f about 30nm thickness is deposited at low temperature first, and subsequently films are grown at elevated temperature to the final thickness of about 100nm. In the case of one step process($T_s$ ~)$600^{\circ}C$), prefered a-axis orientation is dominant and Cu-rich phases segregate at the surface. Segregations decrease and ($00 \ell$) peaks increase upon increasing $T_s$. The films prepared by two step method appeared to have strong(h00) peaks as the deposition rate increased. Microstructure shows pin holes resulted from mixed phases of a-axis and c-axis oriented films. In both cases of one step and two step process, as TS decreases, prepared films show stronger a-axis orientation. However electrical properties of the films are depressed with lower $T_c$ and wider $\Delta T$ as $T_s$ decreases.

Molecular Orientation of Evaporated Pentacene Film on Polyimide Alignment Layer (폴리이미드 배향막에 증착된 Pentacene 분자의 배향 연구)

  • It was found by polarized FTIR spectroscopic studies that pentacene molecules are arranged with their molecular axes perpendicular to the substrate surface when pentacene films are deposited on a polyimide alignment layer. The ring plane in a pentacene molecule is arranged parallel to the rubbing direction of the polyimide alignment film while no specific arrangement of vertically deposited pentacene molecules was found for the film without rubbing. The pentacene band at $1296cm^{-1}$ which has a transition dipole moment parallel to the ring plane is much stronger in a polarized IR spectrum of parallel to the rubbing direction, whereas the band at $908cm^{-1}$ whose transition dipole align normal to the ring plane shows much stronger intensity in a spectrum of perpendicular to the rubbing direction. These findings indicate that orientation of polyimide chains affects the arrangement of pentacene molecules when they are deposited on a polyimide alignment film.

Changes in Properties of Silk Monofilament Caused by Drawing and Hydrolysis (견 Monofilament의 연신과 가수분해에 의한 특성변화)

  • The middle silk gland, that is a liquid silk thread gland consisting of silk protein, was taken out and a silk monofilament was made by drawing rapidly to approximately 3 times. In order to deteriorate the inter molecular hydrogen bonding force and to stretch in, the drawn silk filament was swoolen in boiling water. The results obtained are as follows ; The silk gland sample that just dried silk gland was occupied in crystalline region of silk-I type and random amorphous region. According to the examination of X-ray diffraction and thermal analysis, silk-II type crystal begins to appear partially in monofilament sample and spread to almost complet silk-II type crystal in 65.2% drawn sample. And, orientation of silk fibroin mlecule increased suddenly in early stage with a rise of drawing ratiofrom birefringence and density, and it was found that orientation of fibroin molecule was completed. As drawing ratio increases relation with time of hydrolysis, birefringence appeared almost fixed a tendency. Crystallization collapse by hydrolysis was not found in X-ray diffraction and thermal analysis. But, amorphous region began to flow by treated hydrolysis, that orientation of crystallization part was disturbed was supposed.
