Generally, high performance concrete has characteristics such as low water-cementitious material ratio, lots of unit binder powder, thus the heat of hydration, autogenous shrinkage are tend to be increased. This study is to investigated the effect of the expansive additive and shrinkage reducing agent on the shrinkage properties of high performance concrete as a study to develop the reduction technology of the concrete shrinkage. Test results showed that the expansive additive and shrinkage reducing agent were effective the reduction of shrinkage of high performance concrete. Especially, the using method in combination with expansive additive and shrinkage reducing agent was more effective than the separately using method of that. Also, it analyzed that the combination of expansive additive of 5% and shrinkage reducing agent of 1% was the most suitable mixture, considering to the fluidity, strength and shrinkage properties.

This study investigates the delay in setting characteristics of mortar influenced by variations in super retarding agent(SRA) content, curing temperature, and strength levels. Utilizing a settimeter, the research introduces an objective approach to accurately determine the setting time of concrete with SRA under diverse environmental and material mixing conditions at construction sites. The findings indicate that the settimeter, in conjunction with a nonlinear regression model, can effectively estimate the setting time of super retarding mortar. Optimal management of the initial setting is recommended at approximately 45ST and the final setting around 80ST. This methodology enables more effective quality control in the setting times of super retarding concrete.

In this study, it was determined that it was necessary to consider the replacement rate when applying recycled coarse aggregate to concrete, so data on existing research trends and results were collected and the mechanical properties of concrete according to the replacement rate of recycled coarse aggregate were analyzed. In collecting data on recycled coarse aggregate, data without processes such as compressive strength and removal of residual mortar attached to recycled coarse aggregate were collected among the concrete measurement items. In the case of concrete with 50 % and 100 % replacement of recycled coarse aggregate, it was confirmed that the mechanical properties were lower or higher than ordinary concrete by -36.0 ~ 9.9 % and -40.0 ~ 10.4 %, respectively, on average. Accordingly, it is judged that additional water should be mixed in consideration of the absorption rate when mixing, and the replacement rate of recycled coarse aggregate, which has mechanical properties of 80 % or more compared to ordinary concrete, should be less than 50 %.

This study presents a novel approach for evaluating fire-induced damage depth in concrete. The methodology leverages the principle that exposure to high temperatures causes internal expansion within concrete, leading to increased voids and microcracks in the damaged zones. This heightened porosity results in greater absorption rates compared to undamaged areas. By immersing fire-damaged concrete samples in water and subsequently monitoring the drying process, the depth of damage can be assessed. Differences in drying rates and color variations between damaged and undamaged areas serve as visual indicators for determining the extent of the damage. Experimental results from this water immersion method revealed damage depths of 38.7mm and 37.5mm for two different concrete mixtures. These measurements notably surpass the damage depths estimated using traditional phenolphthalein-based methods. This discrepancy suggests that utilizing the absorption rate principle, which is directly linked to the physical changes caused by thermal expansion, offers a more accurate and sensitive assessment of fire damage depth compared to methods relying solely on the presence of Portlandite for colorimetric indication.

The purpose of this study was to analyze steel corrosion resistance of concrete containing copper slag. The specimens were made with normal portland cement and pozzolan materials with various replacement ratio and with W/B ratio ranging from 35% to 55%. Compressive strength, coefficient of chloride diffusion, corrosion area ratio and weight reduction ratio were determinated for the test. The results show that the concrete with pozzolan materials is superior resistant to chloride ions compared to the concrete without pozzolan materials. It was observed that blast furnace slag replacement ratio of 20% gives the best results with respect to chloride ion penetration and corrosion tests and observed that copper slag replacement ratio of 10% gives the seperior resistance compared to normal concrete.

In this study, the artificial coarse aggregate was manufactured by using coal ash and low grade clay. The characteristics of a coal ash-clay system were investigated using XRD, XRF, TG-DTA, SEM and Dilatometer with various coal ash contents. The chemical compositions are the fly ash, bottom ash and clay, $Al_2O_3$ are 28.5 wt%, 32.4 wt% and 18.1 wt%, and $SiO_2$ are 33.0 wt%, 53.7 wt% and 68.4 wt% in weight ratio, respectively. The shrinkage of specimens started at around $850^{\circ}C$ and changed little up to $1100^{\circ}C$, but increased markedly at above $1100^{\circ}C$. The shrinkage rate is strongly related to the decarbonization amount of coal ash. At the sintering temperature $1150^{\circ}C$, it was found that quartz, mullite, anorthite and albite phase exist in all specimens. It was found that bottom-clay system specimen sintered at $1150^{\circ}C$ had a good compressive strength of 87.5 kg/$cm^2$, and the compressive strength of bottom-clay specimen was higher than that of fly-clay system specimen. The reusability of coal ash as a raw material in the process of shotcrete resources such as artifical coarse aggregate is highly expected.

This study is part of an ongoing research project on the development of a sound-absorbing lightweight foamed concrete manufactured by a hydro-thermal reaction between silica and calcium. As the silica source, pulverized bottom ash was used, and as several cementitious powders of ordinary portland cement, alumina cement and calcium hydroxide were used. Manufacture of foamed concrete was accomplished using the pre-foaming method to make a continuous pore system, which is the method of making the foam by using a foaming agent, then making the slurry by mixing the foam, water, and powders. The experiment factors are W/B, foam agent dilution ratio, and foam ratio, and test items are compressive strength, dry density, void ratio, and absorption rate, as evaluated by NRC. The experiment results showed that the sound absorption of lightweight foamed concrete satisfied NRC requirements for the absorbing materials in most of the experiments. It is thus concluded that foam ratio was the most dominant factor, and significantly affected all properties of lightweight foamed concrete in this study. W/B rarely affected total void ratio and continuous void ratio as well as compressive strength, and dry density and foam agent dilution ratio also had little effect onalmost all properties. The analysis of the correlation between NRC, absorption time, continuous void ratio, and absorption time showed that the interrelationship of the continuous void ratio was high.

This study investigated the fundamental properties and shrinkage properties of high performance concrete with water/binder ratio of 0, 30 and with combination of expansive additive and shrinkage reducing agent. According to the results, the fluidity of high performance concrete showed lower the using method in combination with expansive additive and shrinkage reducing agent than the separately using method of that, so the amount of superplasticizer increased when the adding ratio of expansive additive and shrinkage reducing agent increased. However the air content of concrete increased when used in combination with expansive additive and shrinkage reducing agent, so the amount of AR agent decreased. The compressive strength showed the highest at $5\%$ of expansive additive, and decreased with an increase of the amount of shrinkage reducing agent. Furthermore, in order to reduce the shrinkage of high performance concrete, it was found that the using method in combination with expansive additive and shrinkage reducing agent was more effective than separately using method of that. Therefore, it analyzed that the combination of expansive additive of $5\%$ and shrinkage reduction agent of $1\%$ was the most suitable mixture, considering to the fluidity, strength and shrinkage under the condition of this experiment.
Recently, tunnels are increasingly constructed in this country with the increased construction of highways, high-speed railways and subways. Shotcrete is one of the major processes in the tunnel construction. Many problems, however, exist in the current shotcrete practice. The purpose of the study is, therefore, to explore the trobles in the current shotcreting practice, and to develop high-quality silica fume shotcrete. For the purpose of security a long-term durability of shotcrete, this study conducted combined deterioration tests. In this study, a combined deterioration test in consideration of a variety of deterioration factors were proceeded. Especially, micro-silica fume that was used frequently in overseas because of a outstanding strength-promotion effect was applied to combined deterioration test, and a long-term durability of shotcrete was investigated according to additions mixing. As a result of test, the shotcrete mixed Micro-silica fume showed a good deterioration quality compared with the other mixes. And is shows that the Micro-silica fume has an outstanding strength-promotion effect and is effective to secure a long-term durability of shotcrete by means of decreasing a deterioration caused by steel fiber mixed.
In this study, the causes and countermeasures for the leakage of a sea dyke under construction are analyzed. In general, the seabed ground is clearly divided from the embankment but a lot of parts show abnormal zones with low resistivity from the results of electric resistivity survey. Hence the causes of the leakage are considered as following: three-dimensional shear strain behavior, irregular compulsory replacement of the soft seabed ground with low strength and quality deterioration of the waterproof sheets during the closing process. The improvement method is determined by considering the constructability in the seawater and its velocity condition, durability, economic feasibility, similar application cases and so on. Consequently, a combination of low slump mortar and slurry grouting and injection method is selected as an optimum combination. Mixing ratio and improvement pattern are determined after drilling investigation and pilot test. The improvement boundary is separated into general and intense leakage area. The construction is performed with each pattern and the improvement effects are confirmed. The confirmed effects with various tests after completion show tolerable ranges for all of the established standards. Finally, various issues such as prediction of length of the waterproof sheet, installation of it against seawater velocity, etc. should be considered when sea dykes are designed or executed around the western sea which has high tide difference.
