The Effect of the Reaction Time Increases of Microbubbles with Catalyst on the Nitrogen Reduction of Livestock Wastewater (가축분뇨의 마이크로버블과 촉매와의 반응 시간 증가에 따라 질소 제거에 미치는 영향)

  • It was investigated whether the removal of nitrogen ions included livestock wastewater were increased by increasing the reaction time of livestock wastewater and microbubbles with catalyst. For this study, the nitrogen reduction system using microbubbles with catalyst was used. The two reactors were consecutively arranged, and the second reactor (Step 2) was located to next the first reactor (Step 1). Each reactor was reacted for 2 hours and air or oxygen as oxidant was fed into the reactor during operation before microbubble device. When oxygen was used, ammonia nitrogen was removed each 18.3% and 52.8% during 2 (only step 1) and 4 (step 1 and step 2) hours reactions. This value was higher than that of when air was fed. When oxygen was used, the longer the reaction time, the ammonia nitrogen removal was higher. The longer the reaction time, the higher the nitrite and nitrate was also removed such as ammonia nitrogen. Also this system was examined whether organic matter removal is effective. The total chemical oxygen demand (TCOD) removal was higher than the soluble chemical oxygen demand (SCOD). Some materials among causing substances COD were difficult to decompose biologically. Therefore, it means that it will be easy to operate the biological processes following step and reduce the concentration of organic contaminants in effluent.

  • 일본의 Soyo town에서 진행된 건강도시사업은 건강증진 프로그램 모형을 통하여 건강한 도시를 건설하겠다는 슬로건을 가지고 주민들이 참여하여 자신의 건강관리능력을 함양하고 서로의 장점을 공유하는 것을 사명으로 하고 있다. 또한 삶의 질 향상, 주관적 건강상태 향상, 삶의 만족도 향상, 정서적 유대감 향상, 수입증가 그리고 조기사망의 감소를 구체적 목적으로 설정하고 있다. 이러한 목적을 달성하게 위한 매우 실제적이며 수량화된 목표들이 설정되어 있다. 1992년에 사전조사를 실시하고 1996년과 2002년에 사후 조사를 실시하였다. 프로그램 내용과 과정에는 보건의료전문가와 시설에 대한 정비, 평가에 대한 계획, 학교를 포함한 포괄적인 보건의료시스템이 포함된다. 모든 부문은 자신들이 설정한 보건정책 결과에 대하여 모니터링을 진행하며 적절한 정책을 다시 설정하고 수량화된 목표를 설정하며 프로그램을 수행한다. 프로그램 수행의 가장 중요한 원칙은 사업의 기획, 수행, 평가 과정에 주민이 최우선적으로 참여한다는 점이다. Soyo town은 사업을 위하여 학교 및 지역 내 사조직과 협력하고 모든 사업의 기획과정에 다양한 구성원들을 참여시켰는데 이는 건강자원 개발에 있어 매우 중요하게 실천되어야 하는 문제이다. 특히 모든 Soyo town의 주민들이 참여하는 것을 원칙으로 하였다. 주민들은 건강관련 자원의 배치상태와 과학적 근거를 고려하여 효과적인 사업을 선정하는 것을 포함한 모든 사업의 과정에 참여하였다. 바람직한 생활양식을 향상시키기 위하여 식품회사, 자원단체 그리고 사회적 관계망 그리고 지역의 단체급식시설, 식당 등이 파악되었으며, 요양원, 가사도우미, 공중보건간호사, 방문간호사, 사회사업가로 구성된 보건의료 시설과 인력들이 협력하였다. 사업이 주민의 건강을 향상시켰는가와 건강향상에 사업이 효과적이었는지를 판단하기 위해서 평가가 진행되었는데, 서비스 제공자 뿐 아니라 소비자와 주민들도 평가를 수행하였다. Soyo town의 건강도시사업의 평가 결과, 조기사망률이 1988년 22.1%이 1992년 18.2%로, 1998년 15.6%로 감소하였다. 또한 주관적인 건강상태는 1988년 48%에서 1992년 67.1%로, 1998년 71.5%로 증가하였다. 전반적으로 주관적 건강상태, 사회적 관계망, 보건의료서비스에 대한 접근성은 증가하였으며, 조기사망, 의료비용은 감소하였다. 한편 보건의료부문의 질적인 향상을 가져왔으며, Soyo town은 건강한 도시의 명성을 얻게 되었다. 사업의 효과성을 향상시킨 요인은 주민 개개인들에게 사업의 기획과정에 처음부터 참여할 기회가 주어졌다는 점과 자원개발에 있어 기존자원의 재개발에 우선순위를 두었다는 점이었다. 효과적인 사업의 수행을 위하여 행정부, 주민, 건강관련 단체들은 수단과 방법에 관한 정보를 교환하는 것이 중요하다. 사업의 기획단계에 모든 이해당사자들이 참여하여 각자의 역할분담을 명확히 하는 것이 필요하며, 건강증진은 개인의 노력 뿐 아니라 사회적 환경의 개선과 자원의 개발을 통해서 달성되는 것이므로 주민들은 건강증진을 위한 환경개선을 위해 노력도 병행되어야 한다.

  • Capacitively-coupled resistivity (CCR) system is known to be very useful where galvanic contact to earth is impossible, such as the area covered with thick ice, snow, concrete or asphalt. This system injects current non-galvanically, i.e., capacitively to earth through line antenna and measures potential difference in a same manner. We derived geometric factor for two types of antenna configuration and presented the method of processing and converting the data obtained with CCR system suitable to conventional resistivity inversion analysis. The CCR system, however, has limitations on use at conductive area or electrically noisy area since it is very difficult to inject sufficient current to earth with this system as with conventional resistivity system. This causes low SM ratio when acquiring data with CCR system and great care must be taken in acquiring data with this system. Additionally the uniform contact between line antennas and earth is also crucial factor to obtain good S/N ratio data. The CCR method, however, enables one to perform continuous profiling over a survey line by dragging entire system and thus will be useful in rapid investigation of conductivity distribution in shallow subsurface.

Optimum Reinforcement Conditions of Large Diameter Reinforcement for Steep Slope of Conventional Railway Embankment under Train Loading (기존선 성토사면 급구배화를 위한 열차 하중 하 대구경 봉상보강재의 최적 보강조건)

  • A reinforcement is required to ensure the structural safety in case of railway embankment excavation under railway load. A large diameter soil nailing with concrete wall is applied as the reinforcement method instead of the conventional soil nailing system. In this study, a series of 3 dimensional numerical analyses are performed to investigate the optimum reinforcement considering 15 different conditions based on the length, lateral spacing, diameter, and inclination of the reinforcement. The interface between soil nail and perimetric grout is considered by means of cohesion, stiffness and perimeter of the grout. 0.3 m of reinforcement diameter is assessed as the most appropriate based on the economical viewpoint though ground displacement decreases with the increase of diameter, however the difference of displacement is negligible between 0.4 m and 0.3 m of diameter. Surface settlement, lateral displacement of wall, and stress of reinforcement are calculated and economic viewpoint to reinforce embankment considered. Consequently, the optimum reinforcement conditions considering those factors are evaluated as 3 m in length, 0.3 m in diameter, 1.5 m in lateral spacing, and 10 degree of inclination angle in the case of 3 m of excavation depth. Additionally, inclined potential failure surface occurs with approximately 60 degrees from the end of nails and the surface settlement and wall lateral displacement are restrained successfully by the large diameter soil nailing, based on the result of shear strain rate.

Crack Source location Technique for nam Concrete Beam using Acoustic Emission (음향방출을 이용한 무근콘크리트 보의 균열 발생원 탐사기법)

  • This study was conducted preliminarily to develop the crack source location technique for plain concrete beam using acoustic emission(AE). Before the main experiment, the test of virtual An source location was achieved in plain concrete block. The sensor layout was mutually compared between triangular layout and rectangular layout. As the results of test, AE source location by triangular layout was evaluated more effective than that by rectangular layout. The specimen to apply he source location technique was man in total nine specimens (each three in 40 %, 50%, 60% of W/C ratio) which the experiment variable was the compressive strength level(W/C ratio). The bending loading method is selected by cyclic loadings to evaluate the degree of concrete damage. It is seen that Kaiser effect and Felicity effect exists through analysis of AE parameters in coming failure experiment. As a result of analyzing the felicity ratio(FR) values, it is shown that this values can be used for evaluating the degree of concerto damage. AE activity is started highly at the 70% of failure load without the compressive strength level. Thus considered by a index in constructing the system of the failure warning at application of the field structure. And the results compared the real cracking location with the source location has perceived by AE monitoring before it is appeared the primary crack by visual observation.

Design and Realization of a Slotted Waveguide Feeder for Improving Electric Field Uniformity in Multi-Mode Cavity (다중 모드 공동기 내의 전계 분포 균일성 향상을 위한 슬롯 도파관 급전기 설계 및 제작)

  • In this paper, a slotted waveguide feeder for the electric field uniformity in multi-mode cavity is designed and fabricated. In case of the conventional feeder, a mode stirrer or a turntable is used for improving electric field uniformity in the multi-mode cavity. The proposed feeder has four slots, which have uniform radiation characteristic, on broad wall and shorted terminations at both ends. The electric field uniformity is simulated by CST's MWS(Microwave Studio) for the conventional and proposed feeders, respectively. The fabricated feeder shows the return loss of less than -20 dB at 2.45 GHz. To verify the validity of our proposal, the temperature distribution of the water samples in the multi- mode cavity is observed after a few minutes' heating. The proposed feeder is confirmed to have much better field uniformity in the multi-mode cavity than the conventional feeder.

A RSU-Aided Resource Search and Cloud Construction Mechanism in VANETs (차량 네트워크에서 RSU를 이용한 리소스 검색 및 클라우드 구축 방안)

  • With the fast development in wireless communications and vehicular technologies, vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) have enabled to deliver data between vehicles. Recently, VANETs introduce a Vehicular Cloud (VC) model for collaborating to share and use resources of vehicles to create value-added services. To construct a VC, a vehicle should search vehicles that intend to provide their own resource. The single-hop search cannot search enough provider vehicles due to a small coverage and non-line-of-sights of communications. On the other hand, the multi-hop search causes very high traffics for large coverage searching and frequent connection breakages. Recently, many Roadside Units (RSUs) have been deployed on roads to collect the information of vehicles in their own coverages and to connect them to Internet. Thus, we propose a RSU-aided vehicular resource search and cloud construction mechanism in VANETS. In the proposed mechanism, a RSU collects the information of location and mobility of vehicles and selects provider vehicles enabled to provide resources needed for constructing a VC of a requester vehicle based on the collected information. In the proposed mechanism, the criteria for determining provider vehicles to provide resources are the connection duration between each candidate vehicle and the requester vehicle, the resource size of each candidate vehicle, and its connection starting time to the requester vehicle. Simulation results verify that the proposed mechanism achieves better performance than the existing mechanism.

Experimental Investigation of Water Discharge Capability According to Shape of Sluice for Tidal Power Generation - I. Physical Experiment (조력발전용 수문 형상에 따른 통수성능에 관한 실험적 연구 - I. 수리모형실험)

  • An hydraulic experiment was carried out in an open channel flume in order to improve the technique of designing shape of the sluice used for tidal power generation, which greatly affects the economical efficiency of the construction of a tidal power plant. To predict the influence of change in the major design parameters relating to the sluice shape on the water discharge capability of the sluice, it was necessary to perform a precise experiment that is discriminated to previous feasibility studies or design projects. For this purpose, by installing various flow straighteners and rectifying structures inside the water supply system and the rectifying tank, the flow in the flume was stabilized as tranquil as possible. In addition, the measuring instruments and the location of installing them were carefully determined so as to minimize the errors intervened during the measurement of water discharge and water level. The method of estimating head difference between upstream and downstream of the sluice was also developed by taking account of the head loss due to the friction at the bottom and side walls in the flume.

Declustering of High-dimensional Data by Cyclic Sliced Partitioning (주기적 편중 분할에 의한 다차원 데이터 디클러스터링)

  • A lot of work has been done to reduce disk access time in I/O intensive systems, which store and handle massive amount of data, by distributing data across multiple disks and accessing them in parallel. Most of the previous work has focused on an efficient mapping from a grid cell to a disk number on the assumption that data space is regular grid-like partitioned. Although we can achieve good performance for low-dimensional data by grid-like partitioning, its performance becomes degenerate as grows the dimension of data even with a good disk allocation scheme. This comes from the fact that they partition entire data space equally regardless of distribution ratio of data objects. Most of the data in high-dimensional space exist around the surface of space. For that reason, we propose a new declustering algorithm based on the partitioning scheme which partition data space from the surface. With an unbalanced partitioning scheme, several experimental results show that we can remarkably reduce the number of data blocks touched by a query as grows the dimension of data and a query size. In this paper, we propose disk allocation schemes based on the layout of the resultant data blocks after partitioning. To show the performance of the proposed algorithm, we have performed several experiments with different dimensional data and for a wide range of number of disks. Our proposed disk allocation method gives a performance within 10 additive disk accesses compared with strictly optimal allocation scheme. We compared our algorithm with Kronecker sequence based declustering algorithm, which is reported to be the best among the grid partition and mapping function based declustering algorithms. We can improve declustering performance up to 14 times as grows dimension of data.

A Design of Enhanced Lower-Power Data Dissemination Protocol for Wireless Sensor Networks (무선 센서 네트워크를 위한 개선된 저전력형 데이터 확산 프로토콜 설계)

  • Wireless sensor network consists of sensor nodes which are disseminated closely to each other to collect informations for the various requests of a sensor application applied for sensing phenomenons in real world. Each sensor node delivers sensing informations to an end user by conducting cooperative works such as processing and communicating between sensor nodes. In general, the power supply of a sensor node is depends on a battery so that the power consumption of a sensor node decides the entire life time of a sensor network. To resolve the problem, optimal routing algorithm can be used for prolong the entire life time of a sensor network based on the information on the energy level of each sensor node. In this paper, different from the existing Directed Diffusion and SPTN method, we presents a data dissemination protocol based on lower-power consumption that effectively maximizes the whole life time of a sensor network using the informations on the energy level of a sensor node and shortest-path hops. With the proposed method, a data transfer path is established using the informations on the energy levels and hops, and the collected sensing information from neighboring nodes in the event-occurring area is merged with others and delivered to users through the shortest path.
