Aeration is the most important and indispensable operation unit for the treatment of swine manure using aerobic liquid-composting process. The composting of swine manure depends on biological treatment process, but the highly concentrated ammonia nitrogen is required a pretreatment to expect the appropriate efficiency of the biological treatment process. In this study, pilot experiments have been carried out to estimate of the fit condition about ammonia stripping process as a pretreatment to aerobic liquid- composting. pH adjustment with $Ca(OH)_2$ was economically superior to use of NaOH and optimum pH of ammonia stripping was 12.3, ammonia nitorgen was rapidly removed as pH were increased at $$35^{\circ}C$$. When air stripping is performed before aerobic liquid-stripping, a high initial pH is required for complete ammonia removal and is additional effects such as organic substances, phosphorus, turbidity, and color removal. Stripping process was very efficient in the pretreatment of highly concentrated ammonia nitrogen for composting of swine manure. Emission rate of gaseous ammonia was $0.5355mole\;s^{-1}$ at initial time and $0.0253mole\;s^{-1}$ at finitial time. The fit condition of ammonia stripping in this study were at the temperature of $$35^{\circ}C$$, and the pH of 12.3 during 48 hours.
Bromotrifluoromethane(halon-1301) and bromochlorodifluoromethane(halon-1211) have been widely used as a clean fire extinguishing agents due to their outstanding properties. However, production and use of halon are currently being phased out under an international agreements Montreal Protocol because of global environmental concerns and HFCs have been considered as promising alter-natives for the replacement of halon since their ozone depletion potentials are low. The vapor-liquid equilibrium data are required as important basic information in evaluating the solubility of clean fire extinguishing agents and determining their optimal compositions. In this work, we chose HFCs such as HFC-22 HFC-125, and HFC-l34a for gaseous fire extinguishing agents and nitrogen as a pressurization gas for a proper jet velocity of these agents. Phase equilibria for binary mixtures of nitrogen/HFC-22, nitrogen/HFC-125, and nitrogen/HFC-l34a were measured in the temperature range from 283.15K to 303.15K. For equilibrium measurement, we used a circulation type apparatus in which both vapor and liquid phases were continuously recirculated. The experimental data were relatively well correlated with the Peng-Robinson equation of state with Wong-Sandier mixing rules.

Chitosan was prepared from chitin which was abstracted from wasted crab shells. Then itaconic acid was graft-copolymerized onto chitosan using ceric ammonium nitrate as a reaction initiator. To investigate the optimal grafting conditions, the influences of several factors on the grafting were studied, i. e., the concentrations of CAN and itaconic acid, the reaction temperature and time. And to find out its flocculation ability. the flocculation test was carried out with a metal plating factory waste water. The state of graft-copolymer was identified through IR spectra analysis. The optimal grafting conditions and flocculation results were shown to be : concentration of ceric ammonium nitrate is $3.5{\times}10^3M$, reaction temperature is $40^{\circ}C$ and reaction time is 4hrs with 0.25M of the monomer(itaconic acid). Though flocculation tests using chitosan, grafted chitosan and cation, CODcr. metal ions removal rates were measured. The order of superiority is Itaconic acid grafted chitosan>Chitosan>Cationic polymer.
The objective of the this study was to investigate the binding capacity and removal ability of lactic acid bacterial strains obtained from Korean soybean paste for mutagenic heterocyclic amines (HCAs) formed during cooking of protein-rich food at high temperature. Among 19 strains identified by carbohydrate fermentation and 16S rRNA sequencing, the live cell or cell-free culture supernatant of Lactobacillus acidophilus D11, Enterococcus faecium D12, Pediococcus acidilactici D19, L. acidophilus D38, Lactobacillus sakei D44, Enterococcus faecalis D66, and Lactobacillus plantarum D70 inhibited the mutagenesis caused by either 3-amino-1,4-dimethyl-5H-pyrido[4,3-b] indole (Trp-P-1) or 3-amino-1-methyl-5H-pyrido[4,3-b] indole (Trp-P-2) in Salmonella typhimurium TA98 and TA100. The bacterial cells of the isolated strains showed greater binding activity than the pure cell wall, exopolysaccharide, and pepetidoglycan. The carbohydrate moieties of the cell wall or protein molecules on the cell surface have a significant role in binding Trp-P-1 and Trp-P-2, since protease, heating, sodium metaperiodate, or acidic pH treatments significantly (P<0.05) reduced the binding efficacy of the tested bacteria. Addition of metal ions or sodium dodecyl sulfate decreased the binding ability of E. faecium D12, L. acidophilus D38, and E. faecalis D66. Therefore, the binding mechanisms of these strains may consist of ion-exchange and hydrophobic bonds. Especially, the high mutagen binding by L. acidophilus D38 and L. plantarum D70 may reduce the accumulation or absorption of Trp-P-1 and Trp-P-2 in the small intestine via increased excretion of a mutagen-bacteria complex.
Intestinal mucosal mast cell (MMC) responses were studied in rats experimentally infected with Metngonimur yokogawai (Dlgenea: Heterophyidael. Twenty Sprague-Dawley rats were fed each 2,500 metacercariae isolated from the sweetish and sacrificed on the week 1, 2, 3 and 4 post-Infection (PI). Recovery of worms was performed from the small intestine of each rat. To visualize the MMCs, duodenal and jejunal (upper, middle and lowers) tissue sections were made and stained with alcian blue/safranine-0. The average worm recovery rates were 16.2% and 13.8% on the week 1 and week 2, respectively, but they decreased rapidly to 4.1% and 4.2% on the week 3 and week 4 PI, respectively, which indicate spontaneous worm expulsion after the week 2. The MMC number In the Infected rats was, compared with uninfected controls, significantly Increased In the whole small intestine, through the whole period of observation. The peak level of mastocytosis was observed on the week 3 PI. It is strongly suggested that MMCs might be involved In the expulsion process of flukes from the rat intestine.
Since 1997, Korean Ministry of Knowledge Economy and Ministry of Environment have established data on some 400 basic raw and subsidiary materials and process like energy, petro-chemical, steel, cement, glass, paper, construction materials, transportation, recycling and disposal etc by initiating establishment of LCI database. Regarding agriculture, Rural Development Administration has conducted establishment of LCI database for major farm products like rice, barley, beans, cabbage and radish etc from 2009, and released that they would establish LCI database for 50 items until 2020 later on. The domestic LCI database for seeds, seedling, agrochemical, inorganic fertilizer and organic fertilizer etc is only at initial stage of establishment, so overseas LCI databases are brought and being used. However, since the domestic and overseas natural environments differ, they fall behind in reliability. Therefore, this study has the purpose to select organic farming materials, survey the production process for various types of organic farming materials and establish LCI database for the effects of greenhouse gas emitted during the process in order to select carbon basic units for agricultural production system compliant in domestic situation instead of relying on overseas data and apply life cycle assessment of greenhouse gas emitted by each crop during the process. As for selecting methods, in this study organic farming materials were selected in the method of direct observation of material and bottom-up method a survey method with focus on the organic farming materials admitted into rice production. For the basic unit of carbon emission amount by the production of 1kg of organic farming material, the software PASS 4.1.1 developed by Korea Accreditation Board under Ministry of Knowledge Economy was used. The study had the goal to ultimately provide basic unit to calculate carbon emission amount in executing many institutions like goal management system and carbon performance display system etc in agricultural sector to be conducted later on. As a result, emission basic units per 1kg of production were calculated to be 0.0088kg-$CO_2$ for charcoal, 0.1319kg-$CO_2$ for grass liquid, and 0.2804kg-$CO_2$ for microbial agent.

In this study based on the mass transfer theory, experiments for the evaporation rates depending on various conditions were carried out through the operation of the existing Natural Evaporation Facility in KAERI. Evaporation media were made of the cotton and polyester. Air circulation in the facility was forced by exhausting fans. The evaporation rate and the decontamination factor were calculated by the result of experiment. The evaporation rate increased as the flow rate of air supply, the feed rate of liquid waste, and the temperature of supplied air increased. As for the humidity of supplied air, the evaporation rate was getting higher as the humidity was getting lower. As the result of this study, operation conditions of the Natural Evaporation Facility are optimized as follows : The air temperature above $8^{\circ}C$, the air humidity below 70%, the air flow rate 1.14-1.47 m/sec, and the liquid waste feed rate $4.6{\ell}/hr\cdotm^2$. The decontamination factor and the radioactivity are $5.1{\times}10^3$and $4.7{\times}10^{-13}{\mu}Ci/\textrm{m}{\ell}$ respectively, at the above mentioned optimum operation conditions. The air factor in the Dalton's equation for evaporation was determined from results of experiment on the temperature, the humidity, and the flow rate of supplied air as following : $[\textit{Eh}=(0.018 + 0.0141\textitv) {\delta}textitH]$
Increase of $CO_2$ by using fossil fuels makes mainly global warming and the international efforts to reduce the $CO_2$ emission is being promoted. Absorption process using aqueous alkanolamine solution to remove acid components in the mixed gases has been used commercially. This method was used to remove $CO_2$ in the flue gas in recent years. $CO_2$ Absorption characteristics of several aqueous alkanolamine solutions such as MEA, DEA and AMP was studied by measuring vapor-liquid-equilibrium(VLE) and absorption velocity in this study. VLE measuring equipment, shell and reactor type, was used to acquire VLE data, equilibrium $CO_2$ pressure(${P_{CO_2}}^*$) and time at each pulse gas input. We also acquired the $CO_2$ absorption velocity by measuring the time to arrive the VLE at $40{\sim}80^{\circ}C$ and first gas input. The $CO_2$ absorption capacity of MEA 10wt% solution was higher than two alkanolamine solutions at $40^{\circ}C$ and the equilibrium $CO_2$ loading was 0.5. Absorption capacity was excellent as follows; AMP>DEA>MEA. But absorption velocity was fast as follows; MEA>AMP>DEA. Though good absorbent was considered by many variables, absorption velocity and capacity was more important factor.

The angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitory activity in peptic hydrolysate of raw anchovy cooking discards was 51.3% at 1 mg of protein per $100\;{\mu}L$ sample solution. While, after the treatment of pepsin for 4 h, was 65.8%. The crude peptides fractionated through Bio-gel P-2 column chromatography consisted of five fractions $({P-1}{\sim}{P-5})$ and had maximum inhibitory activity in the fraction P-2 ($IC_{50}$=0.319 mg protein/mL). The fraction P-2 was rich in aspartic acid, glutamic acid, and glycine.

In order to investigate microbiological control of malodors, particularly including ammonia, the effect of three thermophilic ammonium tolerant bacteria strains. TAT112. TAT117 and TAT119, were tested during composting of pig manure in the laboratory scale composters. The total weight, volatile solids and BOD of the pig manure compost were decreased during composting process in all treatments. The temperature in all treatments rose in first 3 days dramatically, but that in control without inoculation reached its maximum most lately among the treatments. The nitrogen content of drain water accumulated inside and outside composter, and trapped in 6N $H_2SO_4$ was lower in TAT112 inoculated composter than in control. However, it was not lower in the treatment of TAT117 and TAT119 inoculated. Ammonia concentration in the exhaust gas monitored everyday during composting also demonstrated that it was lowest at TAT112 inoculated among all treatments. It was appeared to have an effect on reducing ammonia emission at the treatment of TAT112 inoculated than the control.
