  • This study was carried to investigate the seasonal occurrence of Step17~initisp yr-ioide.~ Scott (Hemiptera : Tingidae) in a azalea field at Wan.1~. Chonbuk, Korea in 1994. S, pyr-ioic1c.c had LIP to four generations in Chonbuk. The peaks of adult population for each generation were late May, mid-July. late-August, iuid mid-October. respectively. S. pyrioidrs overwintered as egg stage within the midribs of the host leaves.

  • Corythucha marmorata (Uhler) belonging to the family Tingidae (Hemiptera) has been reported in Korea. In 2013, surveys were conducted to study its morphological characteristics, geographical distribution, and host plants. The adult is brown white and 2.77-3.28 mm in length, and the mature nymph is yellowish brown. Heavily infested trees appear yellowish white because they are fed on by the nymphs on the under surface of host plants. C. marmorata were found between early June and late October, and their numbers peaked in early July to late August. In 2013, the occurrence of C. marmorata was confirmed in 27 cities and counties nationwide, and 8 families and 24 species of host plants were identified. C. marmorata feeds on the following major host plants: Conyza canadensis, Aster pilosus, Helianthus annuus, Artemisia princeps, Rudbeckia bicolor, and Solanum melongena.

  • Development and reproduction of the sycamore lace bug, Corythucha ciliata, were investigated under different temperature regimes. Duration of development from egg to pre-adult of the sycamore lace bug measured seven temperatures ranged from 54.0 days at 18$^{\circ}$C to 17.9 days at 33$^{\circ}$C. Development was not successful at 15$^{\circ}$C and 35$^{\circ}$C. Developmental zero point and total effective temperature for development of egg, nymphal, and complete development were 1 1 .O, 10.9, ll.l$^{\circ}$C and 150.3, 230.6, 376.1 degree-days, respectively. Longevities of adult females varied to temperature from 51.8 days at 18$^{\circ}$C to 17.2 days at 33$^{\circ}$C. The average fecundity per female was greater at 25$^{\circ}$C and 28$^{\circ}$C compared with at other temperatures. The intrinsic rate of natural increase (r,) and net reproduction rate (R,) were highest at 28$^{\circ}$C as 0.170 and 73.25, respectively. As a result, optimum ranges of temperature for C. ciliata growth were between 25$^{\circ}$C and 28$^{\circ}$C.
