A Study on the Performance of Catalysts for the Recombination of Oxyhydrogen Gas Generated in Secondary Battery (이차전지내 발생하는 수소-산소 혼합기체 재결합용 촉매의 성능 측정 및 이론적 모델 연구)

  • The performance of catalysts for the recombination of oxyhydrogen gas was measured and compared with the results obtained from theoretical model. The oxyhydrogen gas was generated by the electrolysis cell and recombined through the fixed bed catalytic reactor. The yield that is the ratio of water-amount produced to the water-amount consumed in the electrolysis cell was increased with the increase of KOH concentration in electrolysis cell and the applied current. The catalyst 1 showed the best performance and the yield was under 60 %. The faradic yield calculated by Faraday's law showed about 100% in maximum with catalyst 1. The production rate of water generated by the recombination was 5-40 g/day dependent on the flow rate of mixed gas. Considering the results calculated from the pseudo-homogeneous catalytic reactor model, the hot point inside the reactor was moved to the direction of outlet and the maximum temperatures were $440-480^{\circ}K$ when the gas flow rate increased. The production rate of water calculated from the theoretical model showed good agreement with experimental results below the flow rate of $0.5cm^3/sec$, but there were much differences above that flow rate.

  • 전계방출을 이용한 평판 표시장치는 CRT가 가진 장점을 모두 갖는 동시에 얇고 가벼우며 낮은 전력소모로 완벽한 색을 구현할 수 있는 차세대 표시장치로서 이에 대한 여국가 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 여기에 사용되는 음극물질로서 실리콘이나 몰리 등을 팁모양으로 제작하여 사용해 왔다. 하지만 잔류가스에 의한 역스퍼터링이나 화학적 반응에 의해서 전계방출 성능이 점차 저하되는 등의 해결해야할 많은 문제가 있다. 이러한 문제들을 해결하기 위하여 탄소계 재료로서 다이아몬드, 다이아몬드상 카본 등을 이용하려는 노력이 진행되어 왔다. 이중 유리화 비정형 탄소는 다량의 결함을 가지고 있는 유리질의 고상 탄소 재로로서, 전기전도도가 우수하면서 outgassing이 적고 기계적 강도가 뛰어나며 고온에서도 화학적으로 안정하여 전계방출 소자의 음극재료로서 알맞은 것으로 생각된다. 유리화 비정형 탄소가루를 전기영동법으로 기판에 코팅하여 전계방출 소자를 제작하였다. 전기영동 용액으로 이소프로필알코올에 질산마그네슘과 소량의 증류수, 유리화 비정형 탄소분말을 섞어주었고 기판으로는 몰리(Mo)가 증착된 유리를 사용하였다. 균일한 증착을 위해서 증착후 역전압을 걸어 주는 방법과 증착 후 플라즈마 처리를 하는 등의 여러 가지 방법을 사용했다. 전계방출 전류는 1$\times$10-7Torr이사에서 측정하였다. 1회 제작된 용액으로 반복해서 증착한 횟수에 따라 표면의 거치기, 입자의 분포, 전계방출 측정 결과 등의 차이가 관찰되었다. 발광이미지는 전압에 따라 변화하였고, 균일한 발광을 관찰하기 위해서 오랜 시간동안 aging 과정을 거쳐야 했다. 그리고 구 모양의 양극을 사용해서 위치를 변화시키며 시동 전기장을 관찰하여 위치에 따른 전계방출의 차이를 조사하여 발광의 균일성을 알 수 있었다.on microscopy로 분석하였으며 구조 분석은 X-선 회절분석, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy 그리고Auger electron spectroscope로 하였다. 증착된 산화바나듐 박막의 전기화학적 특성을 분석하기 위하여 리튬 메탈을 anode로 하고 EC:DMC=1:1, 1M LiPF6 액체 전해질을 사용한 Half-Cell를 구성하여 200회 이상의 정전류 충 방전 시험을 행하였다. Half-Cell test 결과 박막의 결정성과 표면상태에 따라 매우 다른 전지 특성을 나타내었다.도상승율을 갖는 경우가 다른 베이킹 시나리오 모델에 비해 효과적이라 생각되며 초대 필요 공급열량은 200kW 정도로 산출되었다. 실질적인 수치를 얻기 위해 보다 고차원 모델로의 해석이 필요하리라 생각된다. 끝으로 장기적인 관점에서 KSTAR 장치의 베이킹 계획도 살펴본다.습파라미터와 더불어, 본 연구에서 새롭게 제시된 주기분할층의 파라미터들이 모형의 학습성과를 높이기 위해 함께 고려된다. 한편, 이러한 학습과정에서 추가적으로 고려해야 할 파라미터 갯수가 증가함에 따라서, 본 모델의 학습성과가 local minimum에 빠지는 문제점이 발생될 수 있다. 즉, 웨이블릿분석과 인공신경망모형을 모두 전역적으로 최적화시켜야 하는 문제가 발생한다. 본 연구에서는 이 문제를 해결하기 위해서, 최근 local minimum의 가능성을 최소화하여 전역적인 학습성과를 높여 주는 인공지능기법으로서 유전자알고리즘기법을 본 연구이 통합모델에 반영하였다. 이에 대한 실증사례 분석결과는 일일 환율예측문제를 적용하였을 경우, 기존의 방법론보다 더 나운 예측성과를 타나내었다.pective" to workflow architectural discussions.   • One-dimensional modeling was carried-out to predict the capacity loss of a lithium-ion polymer battery during cycling. The model not only accounted for electrochemical kinetics and ionic mass transfer in a battery cell, but also considered the parasitic reaction inducing the capacity loss. In order to validate the modeling, modeling results were compared with the measurement data of the cycling behaviors of the lithium-ion polymer batteries having nominal capacity of 5Ah from LG Chem. The cycling was performed under the protocol of the constant current discharge and the constant current and constant voltage charge. The discharge rate of 1C was used. The range of state of charge was between 1 and 0.2. The voltage was kept constant at 4.2 V until the charge current tapered to 50 mA. The retention capacity of the battery was measured with 1C and 5C discharge rates before the beginning of cycling and after every 100 cycles of cycling. The modeling results were in good agreement with the measurement data.

  • Currently police and fire departments use a Network/Wifi/GPS based emergency location positioning system established by mobile carriers to directly link with the device of the people who request the rescue to accurately position the expected location in the call area. However in the case of mountain rescue it is difficult to rescue the victim in golden time because the location of the search area cannot be limited when the victim is located in a radio shadow area of the mountain or the device power is off and this situation become worse if victim fail to report 911 by himself due to the injury. In this paper, we are expected to solve the previous problem by propose the mobile telecommunication forensic simulator consist of time series of cell information, human mobility model which include some general and specific features (age, gender, behavioral characteristics of victim, etc.) and intelligent infer system. The results of analysis appear in heatmap of polygons on the map based on the probability of the expected location information of the victim. With this technology we are expected to contribute to rapid and accurate lifesaving by reducing the search area of rescue team.

  • In order to increase the use of electric vehicles (EVs) and minimize grid strain, microgrid using renewable energy must take an important role. Microgrid may use fossil fuels such as small diesel power, but in many cases, they can be supplied with energy from renewable energy, which is an eco-friendly energy source. However, renewable energy such as solar and wind power have variable output characteristics. Therefore, in order to meet the charging and discharging energy demands of electric vehicles and at the same time supply load power stably, it is necessary to review the configuration of electric vehicle charging infrastructure that utilizes diesel power or electric vehicle-to-grid (V2G) as a parallel energy source in the microgrid. Against this background, this study modelized a microgrid that can stably supply power to loads using solar power, wind power, diesel power, and V2G. The proposed microgrid uses solar power and wind power generation as the primary supply energy source to respond to power demand, and determines the operation type of the load's electric vehicles and the rotation speed of the load synchronous machine to provide stable power from diesel power for insufficient generations. In order to verify the system performance of the proposed model, we studied the stable operation plan of the microgrid by simulating it with MATLAB /Simulink.

Numerical Investigation of the Discharge Efficiency of a Vanadium Redox Flow Battery with Varying Temperature and Ion Concentration (온도와 이온농도의 변화에 대한 바나듐 레독스 플로우 배터리의 방전 효율에 관한 수치해석)

  • In this study, a numerical simulation of a vanadium redox flow battery was investigated for reactions involving an electrochemical species using comprehensive conservation laws and a kinetic model. For a 3-D geometry of the cell, the distributions of electric potential, vanadium concentration, overpotential, and ohmic loss were calculated. The cell temperature and initial vanadium ion concentration were set as variables. The voltage and electrochemical loss were calculated for each variable. The effects of each variable's impact on the electrochemical performance of a vanadium redox flow battery was numerically analyzed using the calculated overpotential in the electrode and the ohmic loss in the electrolyte phase. The cell temperature increased from $20^{\circ}C$ to $80^{\circ}C$ when the voltage efficiency decreased from 89.34% to 87.29%. The voltage efficiency increased from 88.65% to 89.25% when the vanadium concentration was changed from $1500mol/m^3$ to $3000mol/m^3$.

Analysis of the Partial Discharge Pattern in XLPE Insulators using Distribution Statistical Models (분포통계모델에 의한 가교폴리에틸렌 절연체의 부분방전 패턴해석)

  • It has been confirmed that the inner defect of insulator and the perfect diagnosis for aging are closely related to safe electric power transmission system and that the detection of accident and diagnosis technique turn out to be very important issues. But perfect diagnosis is difficult because discharge pattern is irregular. Thus, we investigated discharge pattern using the new distribution statistical models with cross-inked polyethylene(XLPE) specimens. Voltage was applied to power frequency by step method, and calibration of discharge was set to 50 pC. After the voltage was applied, it measured the discharge occurring during 10s. We investigated discharge pattern using the K-means analysis and Weibull function. We also investigated variation of centroid and shape parameter due to variation of voltage. As a result of analyzing K-means, it was confirmed that cluster including many object numbers was formed by the presence of void. And result of Weibull distribution, it was confirmed that shape parameter of discharge varied from 1.28 to 1.62 in no void specimens, and that shape parameter of discharge number varied from 1.28 to 1.62. In the void, shape parameter of discharge varied from 5.66 to 6.43, and shape parameter of discharge number varied from 5.05 to 5.08.

  • Ion thruster is a kind of electrostatic thruster that use electrostatic field in order to accelerate ionized propellant. Ion thruster have characteristics of small thrust but very high specific impulse among the electric thrusters. High specific impulse can reduce propellant consumption significantly. So, ion thruster have advantage for long time and long distance mission. Recently, plans for space exploration is increasing gradually not only at traditional forward countries for space like USA, Russia and Europe, but also other countries like Japan, China and India. Exploration for superior planets and asteroids the propellant ratio can go up to about 99% when chemical propulsion is used as a cruising thruster. Therefore, latest space exploration vehicles use the ion thruster as main thruster for del-V burn and use monopropellant thrusters for attitude control. In this paper, the development process of preliminary ECR ion thruster and the ECR discharge test results will be presented.

Modeling and Analysis of Fine Particle Behavior in Ar Plasma (모델링을 통한 Ar 플라즈마 중의 미립자 운동에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, many researches for fine particles plasma have been focused on the fabrication of the new devices and materials in micro-electronic industry, although reduction or elimination of fine particles was interested in plasma processing until now on. In order to enhance their utilization, it is necessary to control and analyze fine particle behavior. Therefore, we developed simulation model of fine particles in RF Ar plasmas. This model consists of the calculation parts of plasma structure using a two-dimensional fluid model and of fine particle behavior. The motion of fine particles was derived from the charge amount on the fine particles and forces applied to them. In this paper, Ar plasma properties using two-dimensional fluid model without fine particles were calculated at power source voltage 15[V] and pressure 0.5[Torr]. Time-averaged spatial distributions of Ar plasma were shown. The process on the formation of Coulomb crystal of fine particles was investigated and it was explained by combination of ion drag and electrostatic forces. And also analysis on the forces of fine particles was presented.

Numerical Modeling of Hydrazine-Fueled Arcjet Thruster (하이드라진(N2H4) 아크젯 추력기의 수치적 모델링)

  • The computational fluid dynamic analysis has been conducted for the thermo-chemical flow field in an arcjet thruster with mono-propellant Hydrazine (N2H4) as a working fluid. The Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations are modified to analyze compressible flows with the thermal radiation and electric field. the Maxwell equation, which is loosely coupled with the fluid dynamic equations through the Ohm heating and Lorentz forces, is adopted to analyze the electric field induced by the electric arc. The chemical reactions of Hydrazine were assumed to be infinitely fast due to the high temperature field inside the arcjet thruster. The chemical and the thermal radiation models for the nitrogen-hydrogen mixture and optical thick media respectively, were incorporated with the fluid dynamic equations. The results show that performance indices of the arcjet thruster with 1kW arc heating are improved by amount of 180% in thrust and 200% in specific impulse more than frozen flow. In addition thermo-physical process inside the arcjet thruster is understood from the flow field results.
