A Study on magnetic sensor calibration for indoor smartphone position tracking (스마트폰 실내 위치 추적을 위한 지자기 센서 보정에 관한 연구)

  • Research on indoor location tracking technology using smart phone is actively being carried out. Especially, in order to display the movement path of the smartphone on the map, the azimuth angle should be estimated by using the geomagnetic sensor built in most smart phones. Due to the distortion of the magnetic field due to the surrounding steel structure and the inclination of the smartphone, the estimation error of azimuthal angle may be occurred. In this paper, we propose a correction method of the geomagnetic sensor at the stationary state and a correction method for the inclination of the smartphone. We also propose a method to correct the azimuth error due to the difference between the magnetic north and the grid north.

  • The increase of the number of smartphone applications has enforced the importance of new user interface emergence and has raised the interest of research in the convergence of multiple sensors. In this paper, we propose a method for the convergence of acceleration, magnetic and gyro sensors to recognize the gesture from motion of user smartphone. The proposed method first obtain the 3D orientation of smartphone and recognize the gesture of hand motion by using HMM(Hidden Markov Model). The proposed method for the representation for 3D orientation of smartphone in spherical coordinate was used for quantization of smartphone orientation to be more sensitive in rotation axis. The experimental result shows that the success rate of our method is 93%.

  • In location finding system using spaced multi-sensor, there is the phenomenon that the position estimation accuracy is degraded by the location of signal sources and the sensors. This phenomenon is called GDOP(Geometric Dilution Of Precision) effect. and to minimize these effects, research is needed on how. In this paper, I will describe how to minimize GDOP effect, estimating possibility of GDOP using AOA(angle of arrival) information of spaced multi sensors, and removing sensor error factor in position estimation.

  • In this paper, we present a method for estimating the ratio of CPA distance to velocity of underwater target using target bearing information in CPA situation. This ratio can be estimated by previous research which is Envelope CPA using proximity sensor but it has low performance if the target is close to receiver sensor or bigger interference caused by multi-path effects. Therefore we propose a Bearing CPA technique using a target bearing information as a way to overcome.

  • Because of ocean waves, swell, steering corrections, etc, the hydrophones of a towed array will not live along a straight line. However the degradation of bearing estimation performance occurs when beamforming is carried out on the hydrophone outputs of an acoustic towed array which is not straight. So it is required to estimate the shape of the array for the improved beamformer output. In this paper, an iterative array shape estimation technique is presented, which is based on the use of the least squares polynomial fitting to the data from heading sensors. The estimation error and the influence of deformations on the performance of the conventional beamformer output are investigated. Finally, the suggested method is applied to the real system in order to investigate the applicability.

  • The purpose of the study is to develop ship's bearing sensor using GPS receiver which can play a role as a ship's secondary compass. In this research, two GPS receivers are used to determine the bearing in real time. Then we investigated the bearing accuracy associated with the error pattern of two GPS receivers. Especially, the results are as follows the investigation on the system design of GPS-Compass, the modeling to compute heading of sailing, the analysis on bearing accuracy with the error pattern, the defining possibility to play a role as a ship's secondary compass.

  • The bearing detection of radiated target noise is very important at underwater acoustic measurement and passive detection. It differs the arrival tines of received signal at each sensor. Therefore, the bearing can be obtained from the time delay. This paper proposes a new algorithm using the RLSL adaptive filter for TDE. The proposed method is particularly attractive when there is a limitation of priori information about the received signal spectra and when the delay is subject to variation. As the simulation results, it is shown that the proposed algorithm has better convergence characteristics and TDE speed, and so that the usefulness of proposed algorithm is confirmed.

  • In this paper, an algorithm to calculate both bearing and distance error for target detection and localization is proposed using the Cramer Rao lower bound to estimate the minium variance of their error in DOA (Direction Of Arrival) estimation. The performance of arrays in detection and localization depends on the accuracy of DOA, which is affected by a variation of SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio). The SNR is determined by sonar parameters such as a SL (Source Level), TL (Transmission Loss), NL (Noise Level), array shape and beam steering angle. For verification of the suggested method, a Monte Carlo simulation was performed to probabilistically calculate the bearing and distance error according to the SNR which varies with the relative position of the target in space and noise level.

  • Recently, portable magnetic sensors with high sensitivity are strongly required for various applications such as biosensor, nondestructive testing and directional sensor. A novel magnetic sensor system was developed by utilizing giant magnetoimpedance(MI) effect of soft magnetic ribbons. The sensor system consists of sensing head of $Co_{66}Fe_{4}Si_{15}B_{15}$ ribbon having asymmetric MI characteristics through exchange coupling produced by field-annealing in open air and circuit for signal processing. The sensor system showed almost linear characteristics in dynamic range of $-1\;Oe\;{\sim}\;1\;Oe$ and sensitivity of 10.5 V/Oe. The sensor was applicable to nondestructive testing system to detect defects in wire ropes.

  • 종말유도포탄과 동등한 효과를 올리기 위해서는 센서신관부의 탄약에 의한 사격은 통상 약 3배의 탄두수를 필요로 한다. 그러나 탄가가 약 4분의 1-5분의 1로 싸기 때문에 포탄수의 증가가 비경제적이라기 보다 비용대 효과면에서 오히려 유리하게 된다는 것이다. 수년 전에는 센서신관부의 탄약개발이 국제적으로 유행되어, 서독에서는 Diehi사와 Rheinmetall사가 참가하여 HABICHT 및 ZEPL 계획이라고 하는 2개의 프로젝트가 추진되었다. 그 후 이것은 하나로 통합되어 SMArt 155(155미리 포용 센서신관부 포탄의 약어)가 되었다
