The Evaluation of Predose Counts in the GFR Test Using $^{99m}Tc$-DTPA ($^{99m}Tc$-DTPA를 이용한 사구체 여과율 측정에서 주사 전선량계수치의 평가)

  • Purpose: We can evaluate function of kidney by Glomerular Filtration Rate (GFR) test using $^{99m}Tc$-DTPA which is simple. This test is influenced by several parameter such as net syringe count, kidney depth, corrected kidney count, acquisition time and characters of gamma camera. In this study, we evaluated predose count according to matrix size in the GFR test using $^{99m}Tc$-DTPA. Materials and Methods: Gamma camera of Infinia in GE was used, and LEGP collimator, three types of matrix size ($64{\times}64$, $128{\times}128$, $256{\times}256$) and 1.0 of zoom factor were applied. We increased radioactivity concentration from 222 (6), 296 (8), 370 (10), 444 (12) up to 518 MBq (14 mCi) respectively and acquired images according to matrix size at 30 cm distance from detector. Lastly, we evaluated these values and then substituted them for GFR formula. Results: In $64{\times}64$, $128{\times}128$ and $256{\times}256$ of matrix size, counts per second was 26.8, 34.5, 41.5, 49.1 and 55.3 kcps, 25.3, 33.4, 41.0, 48.4 and 54.3 kcps and 25.5, 33.7, 40.8, 48.1 and 54.7 kcps respectively. Total counts for 5 second were 134, 172, 208, 245 and 276 kcounts from $64{\times}64$, 127, 172, 205, 242, 271 kcounts from $128{\times}128$, and 137, 168, 204, 240 and 273 kcounts from $256{\times}256$, and total counts for 60 seconds were 1,503, 1,866, 2,093, 2,280, 2,321 kcounts, 1,511, 1,994, 2,453, 2,890 and 3,244 kcounts, and 1,524, 2,011, 2,439, 2,869 and 3,268 kcounts respectively. It is different from 0 to 30.02 % of percentage difference in $64{\times}64$ of matrix size. But in $128{\times}128$ and $256{\times}256$, it is showed 0.60 and 0.69 % of maximum value each. GFR of percentage difference in $64{\times}64$ represented 6.77% of 222 MBq (6 mCi), 42.89 % of 518 MBq (14 mCi) at 60 seconds respectively. However it is represented 0.60 and 0.63 % each in $128{\times}128$ and $256{\times}256$. Conclusion: There was no big difference in total counts of percentage difference and GFR values acquiring from $128{\times}128$ and $256{\times}256$ of matrix size. But in $64{\times}64$ of matrix size when the total count exceeded 1,500 kcounts, the overflow phenomenon was appeared differently according to predose radioactivity of concentration and acquisition time. Therefore, we must optimize matrix size and net syringe count considering the total count of predose to get accurate GFR results.

Contaminative Influence of Beef Due to the Inhalation of Air and the Ingestion of Soil of Livestock from an Acute Release of Radioactive Materials (원자력시설의 사고시 가축의 공기 흡입과 토양 섭취가 육류의 방사능 요염에 미치는 영향)

  • The contaminative influence of beef due to the inhalation of air and the ingestion of soil of livestock, both of which are dealt with as minor contaminative pathways in most radioecological models but may not be neglected, was comprehensively investigated with the improvement of the Korean food chain model DYNACON. As the results, it was found that both pathways can not be neglected at all in the contamination of beef in the case of an accidental release during the non-grazing period of livestock. The ingestion of soil was more influential in the contamination of beef than the inhalation of air over most time following an release. If precipitation is encountered during an accidental release, contaminative influence due to the ingestion of soil was far greater compared with the cases of no precipitation. This fact was more distinct for a long-lived radionuclide $^{l37}Cs$ than a short-lived radionuclide $^{131}I$ (elemental iodine). Compared with the results for milk performed prior to this study, the contaminative pathways due to the inhalation of air and the ingestion of soil were more important in beef because of longer biological half-lives. On the other hand, in the case of an accidental release during the grazing period of livestock, radioactive contamination due to the ingestion of pasture was dominant irrespective of the existence of precipitation during an accidental release. It means that contaminative influence due to the inhalation of air and the ingestion of soil is negligible, like the cases of milk.

A Risk Evaluation Model Using On-Site Meteorological Data

  • A model is considered in order to evaluate the potential risk from a nuclear facility directly combining the on-site meteorological data. The model is utilized to evaluate the environmental consequences from the routine releases during normal plant operation as well as following postulated accidental releases. The doses to individual and risks to the population-at-large are also analyzed in conjunction with design of rad-waste management and safety systems. It is observed that the conventional analysis, which is done in two separate unaffiliated phases of releases and atmospheric dispersion tends to result in unnecessary over-design of the systems because of high resultant doses calculated by multiplication of two extreme values.

  • 소각 또는 고온용융 등의 열처리 설비의 운전시 이로부터 예상되는 작업자 및 인근주민의 방사선 피폭을 보수적인 개념과 단순화시킨 피폭예측 식을 이용하여 산출해 보았다. 200kg/hr 용량의 소각로에 대해 발전소의 가연성 폐기물을 소각하는 경우 작업자의 피폭이 인근주민보다 훨씬 우려해야 하는 영향인자였으며 소각대상물 중의 핵종농도의 제한, 소각재 취급시 차폐의 증대 등이 요구된다. 따라서 작업자의 최대 피폭허용기준치를 기초로 폐기물내 핵종의 최대 허용 비방사능치를 계산해 보았고 각 핵종의 영향도를 제시해 보았다. 적용된 식은 각종처리 및 처분시설의 설계 및 운전전에 안전성 평가에 활용될 수 있으리라고 기대된다.

Comparative Volume Measuring Methods According to the Tumor Characters in PET/CT (PET/CT 검사에서 종양의 특성에 따른 체적 측정 방법 비교)

  • Purpose Recent retrospective studies are being actively conducted to analyze the survival of patients with SUVmax, MTV, TLG, such as information from a variety of PET originating. However, there is no clear way is difficult to accurately measure the volume of the tumor may be the difference between the caster is raised. In this study, to evaluate compare the volume measuring methods according to the characteristics of the tumor. Materials and Methods 18F-saline to fill the NEMA IEC Body Phantom insert the volume of balance and imbalance in phantom were acquired to the Biograph truepoint 40 (Siemens medical system, Germany) PET/CT scanner. The ratio of the volume and Background was acquired as 3.0, 5.0, 8.0, 18, 40. Clinical patients were randomly selected 120 people in staging patients with cancer of the digestive system from the year 2010 until the year 2014. Measurement methods were used a 40% threshold, 50% threshold and gradient segmentation technique, i.e. PET EDGE. Five years of experience of the two radio-technologist and one doctor was measured by repeated three times. Analysis methods were Intraclass correlation coefficient and Pearson correlation. Results In Phantoms, the 40% threshold method gave the best concordance between measured and actual volumes (r = 0.992, 0.997). In clinical patient outcome agreement between observers EDGE it is as high as 0.999 (CI: 0.998-0.999). And there were no statistical significance of the difference between the measurements (P = 0.620). 40% threshold method showed the best correlation between the measurements (r = 0.953). Increasing the ratio of tumor to background decreased the influence of a measuring method. Conclusion How to measure volume of the tumor in the patient was clinically most useful is 50% and the lowest impact on the characteristics of the tumor. Therefore, to reduce the background of the patients in PET/CT scan, it should be required research and effort.

An Influence of the Korean Wave on Chinese Tourism to South Korea (중국인의 방한관광에 대한 한류의 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of the Korean Wave on Chinese tourism to South Korea through a behavioral analysis of Chinese tourists in the general group package tours. China suppressed the needs of the Chinese people's geographical movement and imposed restrictions on information about the outside world with the use of a policy of "closure" for a long time. But since reforms and open-door policies were introduced in China, especially in the context of relaxation of control policies over Chinese outbound tourism after the mid-1990's, more and more Chinese make trips abroad including visits to South Korea. In this situation, the recent Korean Wave(especially, drama/film) describes the Korean national image by forming a bridge between fiction and reality and plays a pivotal role in broadening or reconstructing the geographical imagination of the Chinese people who have been historically isolated from the outside world. Although Chinese have imagined the Korean nationscape on the basis of geopolitical or economic factors in the past, they have currently broadened or reconstructed their geographical imagination to include socio-cultural factors related closely to the Korean way of life due to the recent Korean Wave. This newly constructed geographical imagination led by the Korean Wave functions as an important pulling factor in Chinese destination choices, affecting Chinese tourists' motivation formation and the recommendation of main attractions. The more influential the Korean Wave is on their destination choice, the more the respondents select the cultural factors in both their motivation for tourism to South Korea and their recommendations of tourism attractions to other people. Through the analysis results of both satisfaction and intention to revisit, the more influential the Korean Wave is on their destination choice, the higher is the degree of both satisfaction and intention to revisit. In other words, although Chinese tourism to South Korea is chiefly in the general group package tours, Chinese tourists who are influenced by Korean Wave on their destination choice have more attachment to(or affection for) Korea as a tourism destination. This result suggests that the Korean Wave affects qualitative change - that is, change of attitude - as well as quantitative change in Chinese demand for tourism to South Korea.

Variation on Estimated Values of Radioactivity Concentration According to the Change of the Acquisition Time of SPECT/CT (SPECT/CT의 획득시간 증감에 따른 방사능농도 추정치의 변화)

  • Purpose SPECT/CT was noted for its excellent correction method and qualitative functions based on fusion images in the early stages of dissemination, and interest in and utilization of quantitative functions has been increasing with the recent introduction of companion diagnostic therapy(Theranostics). Unlike PET/CT, various conditions like the type of collimator and detector rotation are a challenging factor for image acquisition and reconstruction methods at absolute quantification of SPECT/CT. Therefore, in this study, We want to find out the effect on the radioactivity concentration estimate by the increase or decrease of the total acquisition time according to the number of projections and the acquisition time per projection among SPECT/CT imaging conditions. Materials and Methods After filling the 9,293 ml cylindrical phantom with sterile water and diluting 99mTc 91.76 MBq, the standard image was taken with a total acquisition time of 600 sec (10 sec/frame × 120 frames, matrix size 128 × 128) and also volume sensitivity and the calibration factor was verified. Based on the standard image, the comparative images were obtained by increasing or decreasing the total acquisition time. namely 60 (-90%), 150 (-75%), 300 (-50%), 450 (-25%), 900 (+50%), and 1200 (+100%) sec. For each image detail, the acquisition time(sec/frame) per projection was set to 1.0, 2.5, 5.0, 7.5, 15.0 and 20.0 sec (fixed number of projections: 120 frame) and the number of projection images was set to 12, 30, 60, 90, 180 and 240 frames(fixed time per projection:10 sec). Based on the coefficients measured through the volume of interest in each acquired image, the percentage of variation about the contrast to noise ratio (CNR) was determined as a qualitative assessment, and the quantitative assessment was conducted through the percentage of variation of the radioactivity concentration estimate. At this time, the relationship between the radioactivity concentration estimate (cps/ml) and the actual radioactivity concentration (Bq/ml) was compared and analyzed using the recovery coefficient (RC_Recovery Coefficients) as an indicator. Results The results [CNR, radioactivity Concentration, RC] by the change in the number of projections for each increase or decrease rate (-90%, -75%, -50%, -25%, +50%, +100%) of total acquisition time are as follows. [-89.5%, +3.90%, 1.04] at -90%, [-77.9%, +2.71%, 1.03] at -75%, [-55.6%, +1.85%, 1.02] at -50%, [-33.6%, +1.37%, 1.01] at -25%, [-33.7%, +0.71%, 1.01] at +50%, [+93.2%, +0.32%, 1.00] at +100%. and also The results [CNR, radioactivity Concentration, RC] by the acquisition time change for each increase or decrease rate (-90%, -75%, -50%, -25%, +50%, +100%) of total acquisition time are as follows. [-89.3%, -3.55%, 0.96] at - 90%, [-73.4%, -0.17%, 1.00] at -75%, [-49.6%, -0.34%, 1.00] at -50%, [-24.9%, 0.03%, 1.00] at -25%, [+49.3%, -0.04%, 1.00] at +50%, [+99.0%, +0.11%, 1.00] at +100%. Conclusion In SPECT/CT, the total coefficient obtained according to the increase or decrease of the total acquisition time and the resulting image quality (CNR) showed a pattern that changed proportionally. On the other hand, quantitative evaluations through absolute quantification showed a change of less than 5% (-3.55 to +3.90%) under all experimental conditions, maintaining quantitative accuracy (RC 0.96 to 1.04). Considering the reduction of the total acquisition time rather than the increasing of the image acquiring time, The reduction in total acquisition time is applicable to quantitative analysis without significant loss and is judged to be clinically effective. This study shows that when increasing or decreasing of total acquisition time, changes in acquisition time per projection have fewer fluctuations that occur in qualitative and quantitative condition changes than the change in the number of projections under the same scanning time conditions.

가공송전선의 전자환경

  • 과학의 현저한 발달과 산업의 발전은 고도의 풍부한 인간사회를 만들어 냈는데 반면에 사람과 건강이나 생활에 장해가 되는 여러 가지의 환경문제가 생겼다. 가령 화학공장, 화력발전소, 자동차 등에서의 배기가스에 의한 대기오염, 각종 공장에서의 배액, 가정의 배수 등으로 인한 수질오염 및 폐기물 등에 의한 토양오염, 제트기, 고속철도, 자동차 및 공장 등에서 발생하는 소음, 원자력 이용에 의한 방사능 등의 환경문제가 발생한 것이다. 이들 환경문제에 대해서는 원인의 규명, 특성의 해명, 실태조사 등 그 해명에 노력이 경주되고 있으며 사람의 건강보존과 생활의 안정에 의하여 고도의 문화생활을 할 수 있도록 대책을 강구하는 노력을 하고 있다. 현재는 공업의 현저한 발달에도 불구하고 매우 좋은 생활환경으로 되어 있다. 전자환경문제란 전기가 원인으로 발생하는 여러 가지의 현상, 가령 전계, 자계, 대전, 방전, 전자파 등의 각종 현상을 명백히 하고 그것이 사람의 건강이나 생활에 미치는 영향의 유무를 조사하여 영향이 있는 경우에는 대책을 강구하는 것이다. 우리들 인류를 포함한 생물은 본래 자연에 존재하는 전자환경 속에서 생존하고 있다. 또한 생물 체내에는 전기가 존재하여 통전이 용이하며 통전의 전기의 크기에 따라서는 심하게 반응하거나 마비되거나 토사하거나 하는 수가 있다. 따라서 인공의 전자환경이 이상상태에 있으면 어떤 영향을 받을 지도 모른다. 따라서 강한 전자계를 발생하거나 전자파를 발생하는 전자설비나 기기에 대해서는 영향의 유무를 고려하여 어떤 경우에는 대책이 필요해진다. 고전압가공송전선은 그같은 종류의 하나의 설비이다. 자연 및 각종 인공의 전자환경을 보면서 송전선의 전자환경에 대하여 고찰해본다.

Analysis of Exposure Pathways and the Relative Importance of Radionuclides to Radiation Exposure in the Case of a Severe Accident of a Nuclear Power Plant (원전 중대사고시 피폭경로 및 핵종의 방사선 피폭에 대한 상대적 중요도 해석)

  • In the case of a severe accident of a nuclear power plant, the whole body dose and the relative importance of the radionuclides during the lifetime of an exposed person were estimated for each exposure pathway with distances from the release point. The external exposure pathways due to immersion of radioactive cloud and deposition of radioactive materials on the ground, and the internal exposure pathways due to inhalation and ingestion of contaminated foodstuffs were considered. The effects due to the ingestion of contaminated foodstuffs were estimated considering the variation of radioactive concentration in the foodstuffs according to deposition time and elapsed time after deposition using a dynamic ingestion pathway model applicable to Korean environment, named 'KORFOOD'. As the results up to 80 km from the release point, the effects due to ingestion of contaminated foodstuffs showed the highest contribution to total exposure dose. The contribution of I isotopes was the highest in the case of the external dose due to immersion of radioactive cloud and internal dose due to inhalation. The contribution of Cs isotopes was highest in the case of the external dose due to deposition of radioactive materials on the ground. In the case of the internal dose due to ingestion of contaminated foodstuffs, Cs deposition in summer and Sr deposition in winter, respectively, were the most dominant radionuclide to whole body.

Effects of AMAD, Absorption Type, and Intake Pattern on the Result of Evaluation for Internal Dose by Inhalation of Uranium (우라늄의 입자크기, 흡수형태 및 섭취형태가 내부피폭선량 평가 결과에 미치는 영향)

  • The effects of AMAD, absorption type, and intake pattern were compared and analysed for the internal dose evaluation of workers who chronically inhale uranium. The committed effective doses$(E_{50})$ based on AMAD, absorption type, and intake pattern were evaluated using 3 monthly lung predicted monitoring data due to a chronic intake of uranium for 5 years. The relative error ranges of $E_{50}$ evaluated with each AMAD$(0.1{\sim}10{\mu}m)\;to\;E_{50}$ evaluated with $5{\mu}m$ AMAD were $-37.0{\sim}49.8%$, and the relative error ranges of En evaluated with Type M to $E_{50}$ evaluated with Type S were $15.9{\sim}56.6%$, and the relative error ranges of $E_{50}$ evaluated with an acute intake to $E_{50}$ evaluated with a chronic intake were $0.55{\sim}4.52%$. Thus AMAD and the absorption type affected the results of $E_{50}$, but the intake pattern didn't really affect the results of $E_{50}$.
