Experimental analysis of pultrusion process for phenolic foam composites (발포 복합재료 Pultrusion 공정의 실험적 해석)

  • Pultrusion process of phenolic foam composite is investigated. Phenolic foam composites provide heat and flame resistance with less weight. When made into foam, a variety of properties can be obtained with different bubble size and number density. In this study, effect of process variables on the foaming characteristics of phenolic resin composites during pultrusion process has been studied experimentally. The process variables considered are the heating temperature and the pulling speed as well as the mass fraction of blowing agent. Experiments were performed using a laboratory scale pultrusion apparatus. Optimal process condition was found by observing the micro-morphology.

The Effect of Repetitive Compression on the Fatigue Properties of Foam for Footwear Mid-sole (반복압축이 스포츠화용 발포체의 피로특성에 미치는 영향)

  • To study the fatigue properties of three type of foams for footwear midsole, polyurethane(PU), phylon(PH) and injection phylon(IP) foams were prepared with different hardnesses. Three types of foams were repetitively compressed for 50,000 cycles at 50 rpm. Cell shapes of foams were deformed with repetitive compression. The extent of cell deformation of IP was larger than those of PH and PU. Permanent strain of foam was made by repetitively compressing the foam, and the extent of IP was larger than those of PU and PH. Maximum compression forces of three types of the foams were decreased with the repetitive compression, and IP had the largest decrease in compression load of foam with compression. Decreases in maximum compression force of three types of foams were increased with increase of the hardness of foam.

  • An excellent foam stability in the freshly fermented green beer of a commercial brewery was found to be destroyed substantially by the time it was finished. A further survey proved that the processes of aging and pasteurization accompanied by enzymatic chillproofing were responsible for the foam deterioration.

Measurement of Adhesion Strength of Polyurethane Foam to Surface-Treated Carbon Steel and Effect of Water Vapor Absorption (발포 폴리우레탄과 탄소강과의 접착 강도 측정 및 수증기 흡착의 영향)

  • A previous stud-pull test was modified to measure the bond strength of polyurethane foam to carbon steel substrate. This test was appropriate in that the specimen foamed on Zn phosphated steel (0.95 kN) was broken at higher load than that of smooth galvanizing treated steel (0.38 kN). Among the samples foamed on the substrate atvarious preheating temperatures, the polyurethane foam to the steel held over 60$^{\circ}C$ exhibited very high bond strength. The samples were exposed at water vapor absorption, and, then, their bond strengths were measured. The adhesion was significantly reduced in the samples foamed on the steel at temperatures below 40$^{\circ}C$ and above 70$^{\circ}C$. For the polyurethane foams formulated with two blowing gases, the adhesion was higher by 0.03 kN in the samples with HCFC-l4lb than that with HFC-245fa. When the these samples were exposed at water vapor soaking, the reduction of the bond strength for the HFC-245fa blown sample was negligible due to smaller area fraction of void area filled with gas at interfacial area. Consequently, it was found that adhesion of polyurethane foam to metal substrate was determined by variation of microstructural features with substrate preheating, surface treatment type of blowing agent.

A study on the fabrication of foamed glass by using refused coal ore and its physical properties (석탄 폐석을 이용한 발포유리의 제조 및 물리적 특성 연구)

  • Foamed glass was fabricated by using glass powder and foaming agents. For the glass powder, we used sodalime glass which's manufactured by using refused coal ore obtained as by-product from Dogye coal mine in Samcheok. And for the foaming agents, we used Calcium carbonate, Calcium phosphate and powder of shale type refused coal ore itself which has high content of carbon materials. We additionally used liquid binder for forming, and mixed together. And we formed rectangular shape and treated $800^{\circ}C$ for 20 min in an electrical furnace. The various kinds of foam glass samples were fabricated according to the kinds of foaming agents. The physical properties of samples, as specific gravity and compressive strength, were measured. Pore structure of each samples were investigated too. Foam glass with specific gravity of 0.4~0.7 and compressive strength of 30~72 kg/$cm^2$. Especially we get satisfying foam glass sample with low specific gravity of 0.47 and high compressive strength of 72 kg/$cm^2$ by the use of liquid calcium phosphate as foaming agent. It also had small and even shape of pore structure. Therefore, it is concluded that refused coal ore can be used for raw materials to manufacture secondary glass products such as a foamed glass panel for construction and industrial materials.

  • 전자제품 패키지에 요구되는 쿠션성과 정전방전 기능을 갖는 폴리우레탄 발포 필름의 제조기술을 확립하게 되면 IT산업용에 적용 가능한 필름제품이 개발되어 ESD(정전방전, Electrostatic Dissipation) 성능을 발휘하게 됨으로서 정전기 쇼크에 의한 각종 전자제품의 오작동이나 파손 방지가 가능하게 되어 포장재, 자동차 전자제품의 하우징 등으로 사용될 수 있게 된다. 전도성 고분자인 Polyaniline (PANI)은 다른 여러 고분자와 비교하여 볼 때 다른 유형의 전도성 고분자보다 합성하기가 쉽고 높은 전기전도도를 보임은 물론 열적 및 대기 안정성이 우수하며 가격이 저렴한 장점을 가지고 있다. 본연구는 CNT 나노기술을 응용한 IT산업용 적층간지용 ESD PU발포필름의 제조 가공기술 및 상품화 개발을 수행하고자 방수, 투습방수성을 가지는 유연재료인 폴리우레탄(PU)의 1액형 PU와 DMF에 PANI의 함량을 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30wt%로 변화시켜 제조한 PANI/DMF 분산용액과 IPA/MWNT 3wt% 분산용액의 혼용비에 변화를 주어 $120^{\circ}C$에서 2분 건조시켜 그라운드 필름을 제조하였다. 그리고 2액형 PU와 IPA/MWNT 3wt% 분산용액과 발포제를 사용하여 발포온도 $150^{\circ}C$에서 5분간 건조시켜 발포필름을 제조하였으며 이들의 전기적 특성과 역학적 특성을 조사하였다. 제조된 필름의 전기전도성은 전기저항측정기 KEITHLEY 8009를 사용하여 부피저항과, 표면저항을 각각 측정하여 확인하였으며, 필름의 마찰 대전압은 E.S.T-7 마찰 대전압 시험기를 이용하여 표면 마찰 대전압을 측정하여 확인하고, 필름의 물리적 특성은 인장시험기를 이용하여 breaking stress, breaking strain을 측정하였다. 필름단면의 CNT 발포특성은 주사전자현미경(SEM)을 사용하여 측정하여 발포특성과 물성과의 연관성을 확인하였다. 그 결과 필름의 전기적 특성은 PANI가 30% 함량일 때 전반적으로 낮은 저항값이 측정되었으며, 마찰대전압을 측정한 결과 대부분의 시료가 0에 가까운 낮은 값을 가졌다. 필름의 물리적 인장특성은 PANI가 10wt%의 함량일 때 가장 높은 절단강도를 가졌으며 분산용액의 혼용비에 따른 경향성은 나타나지 않았다. 필름의 단면형상을 확인하여 발포특성을 분석한 결과 PANI의 함량에 따라 발포 cell의 크기는 뚜렷한 경향성을 보이지 않았으나 30wt%의 PANI/DMF 분산용액 20part(gr)와 3wt% IPA/MWNT 분산용액 40part(gr)로 제조한 시료의 cell이 가장 균일하고 고르게 발포되었으며, 3.90E+06ohm으로 가장 낮은 표면저항 값으로 측정되어 가장 좋은 전기전도성을 가짐을 확인하였다.

Synthesis of Polyurethane Foam/Organonanoclay/Phosphates Composites and its Characterization (폴리우레탄폼/유기나노점토/포스페이트 복합체의 합성과 그 특성)

  • We prepared polyurethane foam/cloisite30B/phosphates composites and characterized their rise time, density, cell morphology, and thermal properties. The composites were synthesized with polyadipatediol-cloisite30B composite (f=2.0), polyether-polyol (f=4.6), polymeric 4,4-diphenyl methane diisocyanate (f=2.5), and D-580 (phenyl polyoxyalkenyl phosphate). As a blowing agent, cyclopentane and distilled water were used at various concentrations of D-580 from 0 to 2.81 wt%. The rise times of PUF/Closite30B/Phosphate composites blown with distilled water were faster than those blown with cyclopentane by 30%. The composites blown with cyclopentane had spherical-shape cells and the cell diameter was decreased with increasing D-580 wt%. While $T_g$ of the composites blown with cyclopentane linearly decreased with increasing the D-580 content, the $T_g$ of the composites blown with distilled water increased with the D-580 content. All PUF/Closite30B/Phosphate composites began to decompose from $250^{\circ}C$. The composites blown with cyclopentane showed the second thermal decomposition at temperatures higher than $500^{\circ}C$. The thermal stability of all composites increased with the D-580 content. The effect of D-580 on the thermal stability of the composites was measured higher at the composites blown with distilled water.
