Micro- Weather Factors during Rice Heading Period Influencing the Development of Rice Bacterial Grain Rot (세균성벼알마름병 발병에 미치는 벼 출수기의 미기상 요인)

  • To make the forecasting model of rice bacterial grain rot (RGBR) using the statistical procedures with SAS(Statistical Analysis System) based on micro-weather factors during heading period of rice, 21 rice varieties having the different heading time (40% panicles headed) were planted at 30 May and 15 June in Naju. Heading time and diseased panicles were investigated from July to August in 1998. RGBR mainly occurred on varieties headed from 29 July to 19 August, but not on varieties headed after 22 August. RGBR was highly correlated with diurnal temperature during 7 days (r =-0.871 **) and 10 days (r =-0.867**) and minimum relative humidity during 15 days from 3 days before heading time. After examining the models with several ways ($R^2$, Adjusted $R^2$, MSE), one equations were selected: Y =92.83 - 2.43Tavr + 1.88Tmin - 1.04RHavr + 0.37RHmin + 0.43RD - 3.68WS ($R^2$=0.824) using six variables of average and minimum temperature (Tavr and Tmin), average and minimum relative humidity (RHavr and RHmin), rainy days (RD), and wind speed (WS) during 7 days from 3 days before to 3 days after heading time.

Analysis of Upper- and Lower-level Wind and Trajectory in and from China During the P eriod of Occurrence of Migratory Insect Pests of South Korea (비래해충 발생기간 중국 발원지 바람 및 한반도 유입 궤적 분석)

  • In this study, the horizontal and vertical structure of wind speed and wind direction were analyzed at the origin of migratory insect pests in China. Wind rose analysis was carried out using the Land-Atmosphere Modeling Package (LAMP) - WRF data, which has the spatiotemporal resolution of about 20 km and 1 hour intervals. Hybrid Single-Particle Lagrangian Integrated Trajectory (HYSPLIT) was employed for backward trajectory analysis between South Korea and Southeastern China with Global Data Assimilation System (GDAS). The research interest date is July 16, when rice planthopper and leafhopper were observed at the same time. In order to examine where a jet stream occurs in the vertical in source regions and South Korea during the period (July 8 to July 17 in 2021), three-dimensional wind information was extracted and analyzed using the east-west, north-south, and vertical component wind data of the LAM P. The vertical distribution of wind showed that the wind changed in favor of the inflow of migratory insect pests during the period. As a result of analyzing the wind rose, about 30% or more of the wind at a point close to South Korea was classified into the low-level jet stream. In addition, majority of the wind directions for the low-level jet streams (rather than high-level jet streams) at the five origin sites were heading toward South Korea and even Japan, and this was supported by the HYSPLIT-based backward trajectory analysis.

  • It is studied on the relationship between the occurrence of red tide and the meteorological factors(precipitation, air temperature, sunshine and winds) in the middle coastal area in the South Sea of Korea. In summer and early-fall which frequently occurred the red tide, the precipitation had directly influence on the occurrence of red tide because it carried the nutritive substances which originated from the land into the coastal areas. Then air temperature kept up generally high values, and sunshine and winds showed not directly the relationship on the occurrence of red tide.

  • In order to investigate flight number of ascospores of the wheat scab fungus as a primary inoculum, the experiment was undertaken at three localities including Suweon during the two years 1979 to 1980. Ascospore fllight of the fungus was begun at the first part of April, and amounts of flight number of ascospores were varied by different localities. It showed a tendency that large number of ascospore fllight was proportionally resulted by higher amounts of rainfall. As a result, a high positive correlation was obtained between flight number of ascospores of the fungus and amounts of rainfall.

Pine Wilt Disease Detection Based on Deep Learning Using an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (무인항공기를 이용한 딥러닝 기반의 소나무재선충병 감염목 탐지)

  • Pine wilt disease first appeared in Busan in 1998; it is a serious disease that causes enormous damage to pine trees. The Korean government enacted a special law on the control of pine wilt disease in 2005, which controls and prohibits the movement of pine trees in affected areas. However, existing forecasting and control methods have physical and economic challenges in reducing pine wilt disease that occurs simultaneously and radically in mountainous terrain. In this study, the authors present the use of a deep learning object recognition and prediction method based on visual materials using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to effectively detect trees suspected of being infected with pine wilt disease. In order to observe pine wilt disease, an orthomosaic was produced using image data acquired through aerial shots. As a result, 198 damaged trees were identified, while 84 damaged trees were identified in field surveys that excluded areas with inaccessible steep slopes and cliffs. Analysis using image segmentation (SegNet) and image detection (YOLOv2) obtained a performance value of 0.57 and 0.77, respectively.

  • This study was carried out to investigate pests and their damage caused to commercial greenhouse strawberries in Jeju from 2013 to 2016. A total of 8 orders, including 31 species, of pests were found. Among them, the major pests were Tetranychus urticae, Frankliniella occidentalis, and Aphis gossypii. Although Trialeurodes packardi and Empoasca vitis were sometimes severely damaged strawberries, their frequency of occurrence and damage caused increased gradually. Of lepidopteran pests, Spodoptera litura showed the highest occurrence and damage. Although Helicoverpa armigera was showed a low occurrence frequency, it caused severe damage. We discussed the seasonal occurrence patterns of four pests-F. occidentalis, the alate A. gossypii, T. packardi and E. vitis-monitored by yellow-colored sticky traps.

구제역 감염 확인을 위한 비구조단백질(NSP) 항체 검출에 대한 고찰

  • 구제역은 급성 발열, 파행을 일으키며, 혀, 발굽, 콧등, 유두 등에 수포형성이 특징인 질병으로 소와 양, 염소는 지속감염(캐리어)동물이 될 수 있으며, 감염된 소의 경우 2-3년 동안 바이러스를 체내에 보유할 수 있다. 따라서 구제역의 정확한 진단 및 예찰은 구제역 청정화를 유지하고 관리하는 데 있어서 매우 중요한 일이다. 우리나라는 2010년 구제역이 발생하여 전국적으로 확산되는 상황에서 백신을 접종했다. 구제역 감염항체로 알려져 있는 비구조단백질 (non-structural protein : NSP) 항체를 검출하면 감염동물과 백신접종 동물을 감별하는 것이 가능하다고 알려져 있으나, 전국적인 백신접종으로 복잡한 축산현장에서는 NSP 검사결과를 해석하는 것이 어려운 경우가 생길 수 있다. 따라서 역학 등과 진단 결과를 종합하여 그 의미를 적절히 파악하는 것은 중요하다. 본 글에서는 구제역 방역에 있어서 중요한 실험법인 NSP 검사법의 실체와 결과의 의미에 대한 이해를 돕고자 하였다.
