  • The technique of sequential pattern mining means generating a set of inter-transaction patterns residing in time-dependent data. This paper proposes a new method for generating sequential patterns with the use of Hellinger measure. While the current methods are generating single dimensional sequential patterns within a single attribute, the proposed method is able to detect multi-dimensional patterns among different attributes. A number of heuristics, based on the characteristics of Hellinger measure, are proposed to reduce the computational complexity of the sequential pattern systems. Some experimental results are presented.

  • This study investigates the controversial chickens-eggs dilemma and empirically performs statistical tests to examine if there exists a causality between them. Granger and Hsiao tests are applied to both level and stationary variables to identify the lead-lag relationships. Each of these test is found to have the robust result where the causality runs from eggs to chickens; in addition, the explanatory power of one variable in variations of the other appears to remain time invariant. The outcome is proved to be valid as the hypothesis test for no structural change in their relationship fails to be rejected.

  • Since 2004, as Ubiquitous Information Technology that is new information technology paradigm has emerged, the necessity of government's role has been raised. In order to understand the government's role model for the effective use of the Ubiquitous Information Technology, this article closely analysed the process of the information policy in Korea. To accomplish these purpose the literature review and the exploratory research were used. The intent of this study was to analyze the government's role in the process of the information policy. Following are the major findings of this study. First. the government's role in driving the new information policy must be considered for the effective adopt and diffusion of the new information technology'. Second, three stages(adopt, diffusion, evaluation) are considered in the process of Korea information policy. Third, the revised government's role model is needed for the effective use of the new information technology in the future. In this study, I suggested the revised government's role model, that is consist of four stages. plan. adopt. diffusion, and performance and evaluation stage.

  • This paper, using AMR (Automatic Meter Reading) electricity data accurately measured in real time, analyses the characteristics and patterns of temperature effect on the industrial electricity usage. For this goal, the paper constructs and estimates a model which captures the properties of AMR time series including long-term trends, mid-term temperature effects, and short-term special day effects. Based on the estimated temperature response function and the temperature effect, we categorize the whole industry into two groups: one group with sharp temperature effect and the other with weak temperature effect. Furthermore, the industry group with sharp temperature effect is classified into a summer peak industry group and a winter peak industry group, based on the estimates of the temperature response function. These empirical results carry practical policy implications on the real time electricity demand management.

  • This study is to reveal structural causal relationship of individual factors influencing association member's substantive payment in the economic view which is a critical factor of project implementation and identify its influence through simulation and actual proof analysis. As the results of analysis, the first, association member's substantive payment is decided to allow for the difference between special price for association members and general price and the profit arising between the time of approval of disposal plan and moving in. The second, on analysis of sensitivity of individual factors influencing association member's substantive payment, floor area ratio applied to project has the biggest influence. Association member's payment is also greatly influenced by the subject of cost allocation for establishing infrastructure in project area. The third, this study set up a structure model based on causal relationship among the factors deciding association member's payment and empirically examined influence and path of influence which the individual factors exercise. The result indicates that control elements and regional characteristic elements influence association member's payment through the medium of plan elements.

  • Three spherical quaternary composites composed of metal/metal oxide/high explosive/oxidizer were prepared by a crystallization/agglomeration process. From the characteristics of composites by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), the shortening of the decomposition zone of high explosives in the quaternary composite was observed, which may be attributed to the autocatalytic reaction caused by $ClO_2$ or HCl which are ammonium perchlorate (AP) degradation products. The activation energy analysis showed that the activation energy abruptly decreases at the end of the decomposition zone of high explosives, and it was considered to be caused by $HNO_2$ which is common in decomposition products of high explosives. The activation energy predicted from complex pyrolysis results by the distributed activation energy model (DAEM) showed much better in accuracy than those by model-fitting methods such as Kissinger-Akahira-Sunose and Flynn-Wall-Ozawa models.

  • This study analyzes the relationship between R&D input and performance using panel data from the defense industry. A research model is established based on the R&D logic model, and the study sample consists of a strongly balanced panel data (n=351) empirically analyzed using panel linear regression. Results identified that defense improvement expenditure has a positive influence on the R&D input, and R&D input positively affected patents using a 5-year time lag. In addition, R&D input positively impacts economic performance, including sales and profit. Hence, the major finding includes R&D inputs have statistically significant effects on economic outcome and the R&D logic model featuring a time-lag.

  • This study was investigated the thermal properties of underfill with various epoxy resins using thermal analysis methods such as differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermo gravimetry analysis (TGA), dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) and thermo-mechanical analysis (TMA). And, the adhesion strength of the underfills/FR-4 substrate was evaluated. The glass transition temperature (Tg) of underfill which was composed the cycolaliphatic epoxy resin was lower than that of underfill which was not composed the cycolaliphatic epoxy resin. The thermal degradation of underfill was composed of two processes, which involved chemical reactions between the degrading polymer and oxygen from the air atmosphere. The coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) of underfill which was composed the cycolaliphatic epoxy resin was higher than that of underfill which was not composed the cycolaliphatic epoxy resin. The excessive curing temperatures caused a weak boundary layer of epoxy resin, which resulted in a deterioration of mechanical properties in the epoxy resin and thus led to poor adhesion property between the underfill/FR-4 substrate.

  • The ARDL(Autoregressive Distributed Lag) method is employed analyzes the long-run equilibrium relationships among environmental pollution($CO_2$ emissions) per capita, income levels per capita, and energy consumption per capita. The error correction model is employed to analyze the short-term effects of income and energy consumption on $CO_2$ emissions. The Toda-Yammamoto method is employed for causal analysis among the three variables. The results show that income levels, energy consumption, and $CO_2$ emissions are cointegrated. We found the N type relationship between income and $CO_2$ emissions. Long-term elasticities of income and energy consumption with respect to $CO_2$ emission were greater than their short-term elasticities. There were a bilateral causality between energy consumption and $CO_2$ emissions. There was a unilateral causality from $CO_2$ emissions to income and from energy consumption to income not vice versa. Energy consumption can be an important variable to contribute to forecasting $CO_2$ emissions.

  • This study validates the trading rules based market anomalies and technical analysis in the Korean stock market. For the analysis, we built decile portfolios on the basis of corporate characteristics factors that clearly demonstrate specific patterns of stock returns including the firm size, book-to-market equity, and accruals. This portfolio was used to develop a portfolio based on the moving average trading strategy which was used for popular technical analysis tools, and then that was evaluated using the Sharpe ratio. We also created a zero-cost portfolio to identify the profitability and success rate of the moving average trading strategy. We lastly sought to ensure a more robust evaluation by calculating the Sortino ratio of the portfolio based on the moving average trading strategy with various lags. Key findings from this validation are as follows. First, a smaller firm size, a higher book-to-market equity, and lower accruals led to larger average returns. Second, the risk-adjusted performance of the moving average trading strategy was the highest in terms of the firm size, followed by book-to-market equity and accruals. Third, the returns of the zero-cost portfolios all had a positive value, with its overall success rate hovering over 68.8%, demonstrating the successfulness of the moving average trading strategy. Fourth, various evaluations revealed the economic usefulness of our trading strategy that used market anomalies and technical analysis.
