  • A single specimen of Caranx melampygus (113 mm standard length), belonging to the family Carangidae, was firstly collected by a set net from the coastal waters of Jejudo Island, Korea. This species is morphologically similar to C. sexfasciatus except for the posterior end of maxilla not reaching the posterior margin of eye (vs. reaching in C. sexfasciatus) and no black blotch on the upper part of opercle (vs. black blotch). We newly add this species to the Korean fish fauna and propose its new Korean name "Jag-eun-ip-jul-jeon-gaeng-i" for the species because it has relatively smaller upper jaw when compared with C. sexfasciatus.

  • A single specimen of Pseudocaranx dentex (115.8 mm in standard length), belonging to the family Carangidae, was firstly collected by a set net in the coastal waters of Jeju Island on July 14, 2014. This species was characterized by a yellow stripe presented along both sides, a single series of canine teeth arranged on jaws, a black spot on upper margin of opercle, and snout length longer than eye diameter. We newly add this species to the Korean fish fauna and propose its Korean name "Heuk-jeom-jul-jeon-gaeng-i-sok" and "Heuk-jeom-jul-jeon-gaeng-i" for the genus and species, respectively.

  • This is the first report of Lactoria diaphana (Tetraodontiformes: Ostraciide) from Korea. A single specimen (208.0 mm standard length) was collected off the coast of Jejudo Island by gill net on 14 November, 2011. This species is characterized by having a pair of strong spines in front of the eyes, a slightly curved spine on the dorsal ridge, a pair of strong and short spines on the ventro-lateral ridge and various-sized spots on the body. We add L. diaphana to the Korean fish fauna and propose a new Korean name, "So-ppul-bok" for the species.

  • Two species of the unrecorded congrid eel, Ariosoma major (Asano, 1958) and Rhynchoconger ectenurus (Jordan and Richardson, 1909) were collected for the first time from the Southern and Western Sea of Korea. A. major closely resembled A. shiroanago, but differed from the latter in having lesser number of lateral line pores before vent and vertebrae. R. ectenurus was very similar to R. brachuata, but differed from the latter in having slender tail and a great number of vertebrae. A key to the genera and species of the family Congridae from Korea was given. New Korean name "Kunhuin-bungchangeo" was proposed for the A. major, and "Gomunkkori-bungchangeo", R. ectenurus, respectively.

  • From the South Sea in 1995, two species, Chaunax abei and Bembrops curvatura, were collected for the first time in Korea. C. abei and B. curvatura were closely similar to C. fimbriatus and B. caudimacula in exomorphological characters, respectively. C. abei sharply differed from C. fimbriatus in having the round green spots, no fossa in front of dorsal fin and without tentacles around illicium groove. B. curvatura was well divided from B. caudimacula in having 15 anal fin rays, 41~50 lateral line scales, deep curved lateral line and black color on the first dorsal fin membrane. New Korean name "Jom-ssinbengi" was proposed for the Chaunax abei, and "Jool-gupun-noontungi", B. curvatura, respectively.

Ichthyscopus lebeck sannio has several taxonomic characteristics : large white spots on the surface of body ; without cleithrum spine ; developed and branched labial fimbriae on the both lips ; triangular pectoral fin ; having fimbriated membranous projection on upper part of pectoral fin and having single dorsal fin.

  • Seventeen specimens (29.1~50.7 mm SL) of the starry goby, Asterropteryx semipunctata, were collected from the southern coast of Jeju Island, Korea, and described as the first record from Korea. The species is characterized by having separated pelvic fins, five to eight short spines on posterior margin of preopercle, and numerous blue spots on head, body and unpaired fins except for first dorsal when fresh. We proposed a new Korean name, 'Cheong-byeol-mang-duk', for the species.

  • A single specimen (220.4 mm SL) of the bandfish Acanthocepola indica was collected near Maemul Island, off southeastern Korea. This species is characterized by having a serrated posterior margin of preopercle and a black blotch on anterior part of dorsal fin. It differs from two other species, A. limbata and A. krusensternii, in having a deeper body, 88 dorsal fin rays, and 101 anal fin rays. Our specimen of A. indica is the first record of the species from Korea, for which we propose the new Korean name "Nam-bang-hong-gal-chi."

  • Three juvenile specimens (38.8~51.5 mm SL) of the opistognathid fish, Opistognathus hongkongiensis Chan were collected off the Jeju Island, southern Korea. O. hongkongiensis is characterized by having a large mouth, dark brown vertical bands on sides, and yellow dorsal fin without a black blotch. We described it as the first record to Korean fish fauna, and proposed the new Korean name, "Jul-hu-ak-chi" for this species.

  • Iodinated contrast media (CM) can cause immediate and late reactions. We treated a patient with a recurrent generalized maculopapular rash and a fever that occurred within two days of exposure to iodinated CM, iopromide ($Ultravist^{(R)}$), for chest computed tomography. We performed skin testing including prick tests, intradermal tests, and patch tests. Our findings indicated a late skin reaction to $Ultravist^{(R)}$in addition to cross-reactions to other iodinated CM such as ioversol ($Optiray^{(R)}$), iohexol ($Iobrix^{(R)}$), and iobitridol ($Xenetix^{(R)}$). In this study, we report the case of a patient diagnosed with a late adverse reaction to $Ultravist^{(R)}$in addition to cross-reactions to other iodinated CM.
