Development of Semi-automatic Gas Metal Arc Welding Equipment for Fire Piping and Evaluation of Characteristics of Weld Joints (소방배관용 강관을 위한 반자동 가스메탈아크용접장치 개발과 용접부 특성평가)

  • The semi-automatic gas metal arc welding equipment was developed and the weldability of zinc coated steel pipes was evaluated in terms of strength, porosity and welding parameters including shielding gas composition. The good bead appearance and the reduction of porosity in the welds could be possibly obtained by adding $O_2$ to Ar. The strength and joint efficiency of welds made by the semi-automatic welding equipment was about 1.8 times higher compared with welds manually made. The integrity of welds was confirmed by the water pressure test as well, Finally, it is expected that the weld productivity will be enhanced even unskilled welders can produce quality welds by operating the semi-automatic welding equipment.

  • The study was performed on the development of system in which the bead width can be controlled. In order to control the bead width, we designed the automatic seam tracking device by attaching the probe type strain gauge sensor, motor driving slide and encoder to check the moving distance, and interface card connected MCU(80Cl96KC) upside the speed controllable carriage. Seam tracking experiments were done by changing the bead width. We compared and analyzed the sampling data which were obtained by output voltage of strain gauge sensor and rotary encoder pulse every 50ms.

  • TIME 용접법용 혼합 가스의 특성으로 인하여 기존의 GMAW 용접법과 비교하여 TIME 용접법 은 다음과 같은 장점이 있다. 1.용적 이행이 아크 플라즈마 기둥 내부에서만 일어난다. 2.용입이 깊고, 비드 단면현상도 뛰어나다. 3.용착량을 최대 450g/min까지 증가 시킬수 있다. 4.용접속도의 향상, pass수 감소, 결함발생이 적다. 5.저온 충격시험치를 향상시킨다. 6.비드외관이 미려하고, under cut 및 lack of fusion등의 결함발생 위험이 적다. 7.스패터 발생이 극히 적다. 8.자동 및 반자동 용접이 가능하다. 9.전체적인 용접비용이 대폭 절감된다.

  • In these days, welding is the most commonly used metallic connection technology and also is the fundamental production technology of the modem industrial, which is used in various areas of the industrial fields, such as shipbuilding, automobiles, airplanes and plant facilities. However welding process produces strong light, electric currents, and fume gases etc., and the welding automation is not so easy compared to the other works of manufacturing industries which produce the standardized products in large quantities. So it is difficult to weld and detect the all kinds of seams automatically by a specific sensor. In this paper the sensor applying strain gauges is used to detect the seams of triangular wave form. With the auto carriage having the sensor we proposed the experiment to weld and track the seam automatically.

A study on improvement of weldment design for large steel water pipes (수도용 대형 강관의 용접부 설계 개선에 관한 연구)

  • Large steel water pipes in Korea are joined prevalently by bell end method and welded at inside as well as outside of the pipes with the length of leg which is same as or larger than the thickness of pipes. This results in an excessive consumption of material and labor compared with foreign counturies such as USA, so that in our recent situation of requiring a number of water pipes such consumption is very ineffective and an improvement in weld design of water pipes is urgently necessary. In this experimental study, the possibility of reducing the length of leg to 85% of the pipe thickness was investigated through observations of microstructure and cross section of weldments, the tensile test, and the impact test of the field and laboratory specimens. As the results of this study, it was revealed that water pipes which have the leg of fillet about 0.8xthickness show a good weldability, have a greater strength than the base metal and absorb the enough energy to be safe in the working condition of the pipes.

  • 주강소재 보수용접부의 품질 및 용접생산성 향상을 위해 기존 용접후열처리 조건(이하 PWHT)을 모재에 적용하는 품질열처리(이하 NTT)로의 대체 및 반자동 FCAW 용접방법의 적용 가능성을 확인하기 위해 상온 및 고온 물성평가(고온인장강도, 크리프 파단강도)를 수행한 결과, 제작 공정 측면에서 FCAW의 적용이 가능한 것으로 확인되었다. 또한 PWHT 대신 NTT를 적용함으로서 용접방법별 물성 편차가 줄어드는 NTT 열처리의 긍정적 효과가 확인되어, 궁극적으로 기존 PWHT 및 NTT 모두 적용이 가능한 것으로 확인되었다.

  • 본 논문에서는 피복아크용접(SMAW)을 자동용접으로(GMAW) 전환시키기 위한 기초 연구로서 GMA용접가스가 기공율에 미치는 영향을 보고자 한다. 기공율 평가를 위해 반자동 소방용 분기배관실험장치를 제작하였다. 분기배관의 기공율을 평가하기 위해 보호가스 3종(Ar, $CO_2$, 8:2 혼합가스), 전압을 변수로 설정하여 GMA용접을 실시하였다. 용접을 실시한 시편을 용접방향으로 절단하여 기공율 평가를 실시하였다.
