The Effects of Warm and Cold Stimulations on the Temperature Distribution in the Prostate (냉.온열의 반복 자극이 전립선 내부의 온도 분포에 미치는 영향)

  • Hyperthermia using transrectal thermal probes has been used for a noninvasive treatment of prostate diseases. However it is known that heating the rectal wall at excessively high temperature can lead to destruction of the rectal mucous membrane. and it is difficult to maintain an optimum temperature over the entire prostate. Thus, a more accurate understanding of the heat transfer mechanism between prostate and hyperthermia system is needed Numerical analysis was performed to investigate how the cold/warm stimulations on the prostate surface affect the temperature distribution in the prostate model. The general purpose software "FLUENT" was used for obtaining a finite volume solution to the unsteady conduction equation and to calculate the time-varying temperature in the prostate. Effects of the warm/cold stimulations and the stimulation frequency on the temperature distribution were simulated. and we visualized how hyperthermia affected the inside of the prostate. It was found that the effect of hyperthermia by using a typical heating method is limited due to the low thermal conductivity of the prostate. Consecutive repetitions of warm and cold stimulations were considered to provide the thermal irritations inside a prostate. The effects of temperature difference and duration of warm/cold stimulations were investigated, and basic data for the optimum period and effective patterns of stimulations were obtained. A simplified bioheat equation was also solved to describe effects of the blood flow on the blood-tissue heat transfer. The effect of blood flow was not dominant compared to that of warm/cold stimulations. These results might be used as data for design of prostate treating probe, prostatic therapy and thermal stimulation effects on the prostate.

  • In injection molding, the mold temperature is one of most important process parameters that affect the flow characteristics and part deformation. The mold temperature usually varies periodically owing to the effects of the hot polymer melt and the cold coolant as the molding cycle repeats. In this study, a pulsed mold temperature control was proposed to improve the part quality as well as the productivity by alternatively circulating hot water and cold water before and after the molding stage, respectively. Transient thermal-fluid coupled analyses were performed to investigate the heat transfer characteristics of the proposed pulsed mold heating and cooling system. The simulation results were then compared with those of the conventional mold cooling system in terms of the heating and cooling efficiencies of the proposed pulsed mold temperature control system.

  • 현재 열간단조 금형을 제작함에 있어 육성용접을 실시하는 방법이 금형강 STD61, STD11 등으로 제작하는 방법에 비해 보수나 비용적인 측면에서 이점을 가지고 있기 때문에 점차적으로 증가하고 있는 추세이다. 열간단조 공정에서 금형은 $1000^{\circ}C$이상의 고온재료와 반복접촉하게 된다. 이때 이형제의 사용은 급속냉각 및 급속가열의 열피로를 가속시킨다. 또한, 금형은 반복충격에 의한 기계적 피로를 받게 된다. 이러한 금형의 사용환경을 고려한 FCW는 종래 고가의 $2.8{\sim}3.2{\Phi}$인 외국산 FCW를 사용하였으나 이를 대체한 $3.2{\Phi}$ 태경 FCW가 국내에서 개발되었다. 하지만 개발된 FCW를 사용하여 제작된 금형의 수명이 부족한 현상이 발생하였다. 이에 금형의 수명을 연장시킬 수 있는 내균열성 및 내열충격성을 확보한 태경 FCW의 개발과 개발된 FCW의 성능평가가 요구되었다. 특히 열간단조 금형에 있어서 중요한 내열충격성의 경우 가열과 냉각의 반복 Cycle에 의한 Thermal shock의 평가가 대부분이며 높은 Cycle로 인해 많은 시간이 걸리며, 또한 가열과 냉각을 오갈 수 있는 고가의 시험장치가 요구된다. 그러므로 개발된 FCW 육성용접부의 내균열성 및 내열충격성을 평가할 수 있는 방법에 대한 연구와 특히 내열충격성을 시간이 적게 걸리면서도 경제적으로 평가할 수 있는 방법에 대한 연구가 필요하다. 본 연구의 목적은 열간단조 금형 육성용접부의 내균열성 및 열충격특성을 평가할 수 있는 방법에 대한 검토와 특히 내열충격성에 대해 J.W.Kim등의 시험방법을 참고하여 시간이 적게 걸리면서 저 비용으로 열 충격특성을 평가할 수 있는 시험법을 고안하는 것이다. 이를 위한 방법으로 육성용접부의 내균열성을 평가하기 위한 상온 Bending을 실시하였고, 내열충격성을 평가하기 위한 염욕로를 이용하는 고온 Bending을 고안하여 실시하였다. 상온 Bending, 고온 Bending 모두 3점 굽힘시험을 적용하였다. 고온 Bending의 가열방법으로는 염욕로를 사용하여 시편이 대기중에서 약 $850^{\circ}C$의 온도가 될 수 있도록 하였다. 시편은 각각 열처리를 하여 요구 경도를 확보하였고, 이를 염욕로에서 5분간 가열 및 유지하여 취출 후 굽힘하중을 가하여 변위의 정도로 열충격을 평가하는 방법을 사용하였다. 상온 Bending은 극한변형량과 파단부 극한응력으로, 고온 Bending은 고온 극한변형량으로 평가를 하였고, 외국산 FCW를 사용한 육성용접부를 비교대상으로 하였다. 평가 결과 개발된 국산 $3.2{\Phi}$ 태경 FCW의 성능은 외국산 FCW와 유사하거나 우수한 것으로 평가되었고, 실제 금형을 제작하여 현장에 적용한 결과 금형의 수명이 연장된 것이 나타났다.

Effect of Heating Conditions on the Resistant Starch Formation (가열방법에 따른 효소저항전분 생성)

  • As corn starches with different amylose content were heated at different temperature $(100^{\circ}C,\;121^{\circ}C)$ with starch / water ratio (1:3.5, 1:9) and heating-cooling treatment was repeated up to 4 times, the yield of RS(resistant starch) from heated corn starches was investigated by the enzymatic-gravimetric method and the ${\alpha}-amylase$ treatment. Compared to ${\alpha}-amylase$ method, enzymatic-gravimetric method was more effective to hydrolyze the amorphous region of heated corn starch. With increasing the amylose content and the number of heating-cooling treatment, the yield of RS increased, regardless of isolation method. Heated corn starches formed at $121^{\circ}C$ provided higher yield of RS than those formed at $100^{\circ}C$. Higher RS yield was also observed in the case of starch/water ratio (1:3.5) compared to the case of ratio (1:9).

Formation and Properties of Gel from Maize Starches with Different Amylose Content (아밀로오스 함량이 다른 옥수수 전분의 겔 형성과 특성)

  • To study the effect of amylose on the mechanism of gel formation, swelling power, water solubility, the pattern of alkali gelatinization and gel properties were investigated. The swelling power of waxy maize starch (Amioca) was the highest and followed by those of PFP > Amaizo > Amylomaize VII. Amioca showed higher iodine affinity of soluble amylose than other maize starches. The apparent viscosity of alkali gelatinization measured by Brookfield viscometer for Amaizo was 70${\times}$10$^3$cp which was higher than Amylomaize VII. The apparent viscosity of PFP was increased to 70${\times}$10$^3$cp and then decreased. As maize starches were autoclaved at 121$^{\circ}C$ with starch: water ratio (1 : 9) and autoclaving-cooling cycle were up to 4 times, gel properties were measured by rheometer. Amaizo showed the highest value for hardness, adhesiveness, springiness, and cohesiveness, and hardness of gel after two cycles of autoclaving-cooling was the highest. Gel properties seemed to be affected by the chain length of amylose rather than the content of amylose.

  • In this study, the impact of sand and weathered granite soil is analyzed by changing the internal temperature from $20^{\circ}C{\sim}70^{\circ}C$C by installing a heating coil inside the triaxial cell. To check the effect on weathered granite soil due to increase of temperature and number of heating-coiling cycles are analyzed by measuring the temperature by using thermometer installed inside the triaxial cell and due to that deviator stress also occurred during the consolidated undrained test. To analyze the effect of weathered granite soil with change of temperature during undrained testing. The deviator stress and pore pressure is measured. As a result, pore pressure increases and the deviator stress decreases with rise of temperature.

  • Maize starches with different amylose content were repeated autoclaving-cooling cycles up to 4 times, and the yield of resistant starch (RS) from autoclaved maize starches was investigated by enzymatic-gravimetric method and ${\alpha}-amylase$ treatment. With increasing amylose content in starch and the number of autoclaving-cooling cycles, RS yield was also increased, regardless of isolation method. Enzymatic-gravimetric method severely hydrolyzed amorphous region of autoclaved maize starches. Crystalline region was obtained more effectively by enzymatic-gravimetric method than by ${\alpha}-amylase$ treatment.

  • 자동차용 Al Wheel의 반복 금형 주조 공정에 있어서의 적정 냉각조건 확립 및 수축공 등의 주조결함을 제어하기 위하여 3차원 응고, 유동, 응력 해석 프로그램 연동 기술과 자동 금형온도 조절장치를 실제 현장에 적용하여 생산되는 Al Wheel 제품의 최적 주조조건 및 냉각조건을 확립하였다. 주조과정 중의 금형의 온도 변화 및 주물의 응고, 유동 거동은 수치해석 결과와 잘 일치하는 경향을 나타내었다. 또한 금형온도 자동 조절 장치를 사용함으로서 금형 작업온도의 가열 및 유지가 정량적으로 제어 가능하며, 제품 품질의 유지 및 Cycle Time 최적화를 이룰 수 있으며 궁극적으로는 금형 수명 연장 및 생산성 향상 등을 이룰 수 있었다.

Effect of Temperature on Particle Structure and Strength Characteristic of Sand and Weathered Granite Soil (온도변화가 모래 및 화강풍화토의 입자구조 및 강도 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • This paper presents the results of an investigation into the effect of forced temperature change cycles on physical and mechanical properties of sand and weathered granite soil. The effect of forced temperature change cylecs on the particle arrangement and the thermal conductivity was first investigated. A series of triaxial compression tests on the soils were also performed to look into the effect of temperature change cycles on the stress-strain-strength behavior. The results indicated that the forced temperature change cycle does not significantly affect the particle arrangement and thermal conductivity. It is shown however that the heating duration showed some effect on the deviatoric stress at failure while no significant effect due to the number of heating-cooling cycle was observed.
