In this study, the correlation between concrete core compressive strength and rebound hardness of urban railway underground structures was analyzed. The equations for the range of rebound hardness were derived and compared with the measured concrete core strengths for each range of rebound hardness to confirm the adequacy of the estimated compressive strength. As the result, the linear regression analysis results of the average compressive strength by the Gaussian probability density function (representative compressive strength estimation formula) and the estimation formula by the rebound hardness range were founded to match well within 3% of the experimental concrete core compressive strength test results. Therefore, the stochastic statistical analysis using the rebound hardness measurement results suggested in this study could be help to secure the confidence level of the correlation between the rebound hardness and the concrete compressive strength which are relatively large deviation according to the estimation equations.
Several non-destructive test methods have been developed to estimate compressive strength of concrete in other countries. However, their applications are limited in domestic concrete due to their inaccuracies. The purpose of this study is to propose an aging coefficient of compressive strength of structural concrete in rebound number method and ultrasonic pulse velocity method for domestic concrete. The test variables include type of aggregate, curing condition, and compressive strength. Two approaches are used to estimate aging coefficient. One is evaluated by uniform linear regression equation for all ages and shows uniform strength reduction coefficient regardless of material properties and the other is evaluated by individual regression equation for each ages and shows nonuniform strength reduction and rebound increasing coefficients which decrease with increasing of rebound number and compressive strength. The latter result which can include the effect of rebound number and compressive strength is more resonable than the former.
Recently, as the remodeling market gradually substitute for new construction market and safety diagnosis for reconstruction apartment become a matter of principal Interest, it is demanded that scientific diagnosis and evaluation for existing concrete structure state. And it is increasing that the significance for reliability of data which is used for estimating the concrete compressive strength by nondestructive test. As a result, it is found that different proposal to material age and hitting angle is good to improving the reliability of presumption of concrete compressive strength in the linear hitting rebound test hammer. And for the reason that mutual relation between the compressive strength and rebound degree is highest in linear hitting rebound test hammer 25mm in all portion according to early md middle material age and hitting angle except the early material age $-45^{\circ}$, analysis showed that linear hitting rebound test hammer is more reliable than existing schmidt hammer in presumption of concrete compressive strength.
This paper is to grasp the applicability of a cumulative rebound angle measured from the rebound action generated after impacting an object for the assessment of compressive strength of construction materials nondestructively and to propose the test results. For this study, an impact device was devised and used for impacting an object by an initial rotating free falling impact and following repetitive impacts from the rebound action which eventually disappears. Five types of construction materials, which are soil cement, cement paste, wood (pine tree), and two types of rock (shale and granite), were tested and both peak rebound angle and cumulative rebound angle were measured for each material by using a high-speed camera. The measured angles were compared with the directly measured compressive strength for each material. The comparison showed that for materials such as cement and rock the cumulative rebound angle, which reflects energy dissipation, rather than the peak rebound angle is more appropriate indicator for assessing the compressive strength of a material, but for a construction material such as wood which has a high toughness the magnitude of rebound is not an indicator to assess the compressive strength of a material.
The rebound test using Schmidt hammer is most popular method to estimate strength of concrete. However, this method is inappropriate for Seoul Metro underground structures due to unsuitable aging effects. Consequently, the strength presumption equation of underground structures is proposed according to the correlation of uniaxial compressive strength, rebound test results and age of concrete. To achieve this, the results of in-depth inspection of Seoul Metro underground structures performed annually for last 8 years was anlayed.

Physical strength of the rock is the most important factor of resistance to erosion and has been measured through various way. Bedrock microforms, like potholes and grooves, are the forms sculpted by the erosional processes of flow and the location and morphology are strongly affected by the differential erosion. It also assumed that the physical strength of the rock controls the erosion rate and mode of erosion. The schmidt hammer has been used to measure the rock strength in the field for the geomorphological research. To find the relationship between the rock strength and microforms, Schmidt hammer's R(rebound) were measured in the Baeksuktan, middle reach of Gilancheon, Cheongsong, Gyungsangbuk do. The overall values of rebound of the local sandstone showed over 65 in most cases, so it can be regarded as 'very strong'. It is found that the rebound values of the rock surface decreased towards current water level. It also, however, found that there was no systematic differences in rebound values among the topographically high and lows in the bedrock surface. There was no statistically significant difference in rebound values of the area with well developed microforms and others. The values of R from the exposed faces and inside of the microforms are similar. In the case of conglomerate, the part with the gravel showed higher values that the parts with sands. The rebound values are decreased near of(<1cm) the geological discontinuities(including joint and faults), so this line of weakness could be the point of initiation of active erosion to form microforms. However there is large variations in rebound values within this part. It also should be mentioned that topological relation between the strike of the geologic discontinuities and flow direction looks control the mode of erosional processes.

As infrastructures are being deteriorated, nondestructive evaluation of existing structures and construction quality control are increasingly demanded. The importance of predicting compressive strength of concrete structure is also gradually increasing in construction industry. The estimation of concrete compressive strength is a critical factor of the construction management and quality control. This study has been conducted using Schmidt hammer test and Impact echo method, which are nondestructive test methods for the comparison of the concrete compressive strength. It is focusing to examine the relationship between compressive strength of concrete and rebound number by Schmidt hammer test result by Impact echo method. It was found that concrete compressive strength and rebound number have a close correlation.

The authors performed the experimental work to propose the strength prediction equation for high strength concrete based on the non-destructive test methods. The concrete specimens that the range of design compressive strength was 40~80 MPa was produced in laboratory, and then tested rebound test and ultrasonic velocity methods and also compressive test according to the Korea Standard. The test results was compared with previously equations suggested by other researcher. From the test, these traditional nondestructive methods are simple, quick, has proven to be reliable and useful method for predicting the concrete strength. The test results were compared with the previous equations and then newly proposed own equations based on the test results. The proposed equations have the suitable precision and accuracy for applying the high strength concrete structures.
Among non-destructive tests for compressive strength, rebound number test and pulse velocity test are the most widely used methods. However, the non-destructive tests mostly used in Korea was developed by foreign country. Therefore, it is unreasonable to directly apply them to concrete structures in Korea. In accordance with the suggestion of Institute of Architecture in Japan for rebound number test, a compressive strength is calculated by the mean value of 20 hit points without being considered standard deviation. Furthermore, there is no regulation on the number of measurements required for measuring compressive strength by pulse velocity test. This study, therefore, reviewed the rebound number test and pulse velocity test by chi-square, and suggested the minimum number of each test. As a result, the minimum number that falls within range of reliability for rebound number test and pulse velocity test are 11 and 7, respectively. If abnormal values are processed as missing and test groups are assumed to be arrayed in cross by considering changes in quality of actual concrete structures, 20 times and 9 times are appropriate for rebound number test and pulse velocity test, respectively.
Outer tank concretes of LNG storage tank are composed of prestressed concrete structures that act as a protective wall. The danger such as the collapse of structures will exist if concrete structures is not secured due to the deterioration. Concrete compressive strength directly related to the safety of structures can be predicted by using estimation equation of compressive strength through rebound hardness test and ultrasonic wave velocity method. But, there is no the estimation equation of LNG storage tank for a relation between NDT data and real strength. In this study, to obtain more accurate real strengths for LNG storage tank, core specimens were sampled from walls of pilot LNG storage tank. The rebound hardness test of general NDT for concrete structures was carried out at each 3 positions for the four areas. The compressive strength estimation equation of LNG storage tank was developed by using the data for rebound hardness test of pilot LNG storage tank and compressive strength test of sampled concrete cores.
