A Small Crack Length Evaluation Technique by Electronic Scanning (전자적 스캔에 의한 미소결함길이 평가기법)

  • The results of crack evaluation by conventional UT(Ultrasonic Test)is highly depend on the inspector's experience or knowledge of ultrasound. Phased array UT system and its application methods for small crack length evaluation will be a good alternative method which overcome present UT weakness. This study was aimed at checking the accuracy of crack length evaluation method by electronic scanning and discuss about characteristics of electronic scanning for crack length evaluation. Especially ultrasonic phased array with electronic scan technique was used in carrying out both sizing and detect ability of crack as its length changes. The response of ultrasonic phased array was analyzed to obtain the special method of determining crack length without moving the transducer and detect-ability of crack minimal length and depth from the material. A method of crack length determining by electronic scanning for the small crack is very real method which has it's accuracy and verify the effectiveness of method compared to a conventional crack length determination.

A Study on Determining the Shape of Small Axial Cracks by using Magnetic Flux Leakage in NDT System for Underground Pipe (배관용 자기누설 비파괴 검사에서 축방향 미소결함의 형상 판정에 관한 연구)

  • MFL PIG (Magnetic Flux Leakage Pipeline Inspection Gauge) is called the system which detects the defect for underground pipelines by using magnetic flux leakage method in nondestructive testing. This method is very suitable for testing pipelines because pipeline has high magnetic permeability. MFL PIG generates the magnetic fields to the pipe axially oriented, and detect the signal of leakage flux by using hall sensor. However, MFL PIG is hard to detect the axially oriented crack with small size because the magnetic flux leakage is not enough to be occurred. To detect the small size and axially oriented crack, the circumferential MFL (CMFL) PIG is being proposed and it can maximize the leakage flux for the axial crack by performing magnetic fields circumferentially on the pipe. In this paper, CMFL PIG is applied to detect the axially oriented crack with small size and the analysis for the distribution and the amplitude of the leakage flux signal is performed by using three dimensional finite element method. From sensing signals, the method how to determine the shape of axially oriented cracks is proposed and verified with experiment.

  • 비파괴 검사방법 중 자기누설 방법을 이용한 방법은 높은 자기 투자율을 갖고 있는 배관 검사에 적합하다. 자기누설 방식이 적용된 시스템을 MFL PIG라고 한다. MFL PIG는 금속 손실이나 부식과 같은 결함을 검출하는데 높은 성능을 보인다. 하지만 이 시스템은 축방향으로 자기장을 형성하여 투자율이 큰 금속 배관을 포화시켜 결함이 있는 부분에서 발생하는 누설자속을 검출하는 방식이기 때문에 축방향으로 발생하는 미소 결함은 자기장이 통과하는 단면이 작고 누설자속이 거의 없어 검출이 어렵다. 축방향 미소결함을 검출하기 위해 기존의 MFL PIG를 개선시킨 것이 CMFL PIG이며, 이것은 자기장을 원주방향으로 형성하여 결함에서의 자기 누설을 최대화 가능하다. 본 논문에서는 축방향 미소 결함의 검출이 가능한 CMFL 비파괴 검사 방법에 관한 논의와 이를 이용하여 축방향 결함의 위치이동에 따른 왜곡 신호의 분석 및 보정하는 방법에 관해 제안한다.

  • 본 연구에서는 미소 결함주위에서 발생, 전파하는 균열들에 미치는 초기 결함 깊이와 상호 간섭 영향을 검토하기 위하여 기존 재료가 갖고 있는 결함이나 비금속 개 재물로 대신할 수 있다고 생각되는 미소 원공의 크기를 변화시킨 모델에 대해 유한 요 소법을 이용하여 3차원적으로 응력을 해석하였다. 실제 사용하고 있는 부재에 결함 들이 존재할 경우 응력장의 간섭으로 피로 균열 진전이 가속화됨으로 미소 원공 주위 의 응력 분포 및 미소 원공사이의 응력장의 간섭과 미소 원공에서 발생, 전파하는 표 면 균열의 응력 확대 계수에 미치는 영향에 대하여 비교검토 하였다.

  • Micro-defects in the undoped and MgO-doped $LiNbO_3$ single crystals, which were grown from a congruent melting composition (48.6 mol% $Li_2$O) by the CZ (Czochralski) method, were analyzed using microscopic techniques such as optical microscopy (OM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Effects of the dopant and g value (the fraction solidfied) on the domain structure and micro-defect were investigated to build a corelationship with a growth condition of crystal. It was observed that the micro-defect concentrated near the domain wall is caused by high stress. Especially, the micro-defect was observed to be biased toward a certain side of the domain wall.

  • 탄소강 평활재 및 미소결함재를 사용하여, 미소 정류크랙의 크랙 개폐구거동의 상세한 관찰과 초기결함을 상정한 미소 원공과의 상호 한계크기의 비교 검토를 통하여, 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 평활재의 정규크랙은, 피로과정중에 압축잔류응역이 크랙선단의 개구를 억제하는 것에 의하여 정류하게 되고, 그 크기는 평활재의 피로한도를 저하시키지 않은 미소 원공의 한계크기와 거의 일치하여, 두 경우가 역학적으로 거의 등가함을 시사해 주고 있다.

  • From among the NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) methods, the MFL (Magnetic Flux Leakage) PIG (Pipeline Inspection Gauge) is especially suitable for testing pipelines because the pipeline has high magnetic permeability. MFL PIG showed high performance in detecting the metal loss and corrosions. However, MFL PIG is difficult to detect the crack which occured by exterior-interior pressure difference in pipelines and the shape of crack is very long and narrow. Therefore, the new PIG is needed to be researched and developed for detecting the cracks. The CMFL (Circumferential MF) PIG performs magnetic fields circumferentially and can maximize the magnetic flux leakage at the cracks. In this paper, CMFL PIG is designed and the distribution of the magnetic fields is analyzed by using 3 dimensional nonlinear finite element method (FEM). By Simulating and Measuring the magnetic leakage field, it is possible to detect of axial cracks in the pipeline.

  • 회전 편광자 영의 Spectroscople Ellipsometer를 제작하였다. 각 부품의 미소결함에 의한 오차를 추정하고 이들 각 부품의 미소결함이 Ellipsometric 상수들에 미치는 영향을 보정하여 정확도를 향상시키는 관련표현들을 유도하였다. Straight through operation에 대한 성능 평가 결과 파장 대역 400nm-600nm 내에서 tan$\psi$ 와 cos$\Delta$ 의 편차는 0.2% 내외로 만족할 만한 것으로 판단되었다. 광학 박막을 중심으로 Spectroscopic Ellipsomter를 사용한 연구에 대하여 실험예를 중심으로 논의하였다.
