광주지역 미세먼지(PM-10)의 다환방향족탄화수소 분포 특성 및 발생원 추정 (Distribution Characteristics and Source Estimation of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in PM-10 from Gwangju)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the distribution characteristics, source identification, and health risk of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) present in particulate matter 10 (PM-10), in Gwangju. PM-10 samples were collected from September 2021 to August 2022 from three sampling sites, one located in each of the following areas: green, residential, and industrial. The average concentrations of PAHs were found to be higher in the industrial area (9.75±6.51 ng/㎥) than in the green (6.90±2.41 ng/㎥) and residential (6.74±2.38 ng/㎥) areas. Throughout the year and across all sites, five-ring PAHs accounted for the largest proportion (29.8-34.5%) of all PAHs. The concentrations of PAHs showed distinct seasonal variations, with the highest concentration observed in winter, followed by autumn, spring, and summer. Source apportionment analyses were performed using diagnostic ratios and principal component analyses, which indicated that coal/biomass combustion and vehicle emissions were the primary sources of PAHs in PM-10. The incremental lifetime cancer risk was estimated for all age groups at all sampling sites, and the results revealed a much lower risk level than the standard acceptable risk level (1×10-6).

우리나라 대기오염배출 원인과 저감 정책 효과 분석 (Causes of Air pollution and Effects of Mitigation Policy in Korea)

  • 최근 우리나라는 미세먼지 및 초미세먼지 문제가 크게 대두되면서 대기오염문제에 대한 효과적인 해결책이 중요해진 시점에 있다. 본 연구는 대기오염의 원인을 계량경제모형을 통해 찾아보고, 경유가격 인상정책이 경유소비 감소와 대기오염의 저감에 기여하는지를 분석해보았다. 대기오염물질로는 TSP, PM10, $NO_X$, $SO_X$, CO, VOC가 포함되었다. 분석 결과 CO를 제외하고 모든 오염물질에서 경제성장은 역U자형의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났고, 소비자 물가지수, 화력발전설비, 경유소비, 황사발생일수, 천연가스버스, 운수업체 사업장수, 평균기온, 제조업체 사업장수 등이 대기오염에 영향을 미치는 변수로 나타났다. 또한 경유가격이 1% 상승하면 대기오염물질은 단기적으로는 0.07~0.12% 감소하고, 장기적으로는 0.31~0.53% 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 환경개선부담금의 형태로 경유가격을 올리고, 그 수입원을 바이오디젤 보급 지원에 사용한다면 보다 효과적인 대기오염 개선을 기대할 수 있다.

온산공업단지 주변의 박무와 해풍발생이 대기오염물질의 이동 및 농도분포에 미치는 영향 (The Influences of Concentration Distribution and Movement of Air Pollutants by Sea Breeze and Mist around Onsan Industrial Complex)

  • 온산공업단지는 인근에 울산석유화학단지가 위치해 있고 동쪽에는 바다가 위치하고 있는 공업지역이다. 이러한 이유로 온산공업단지에서 배출되는 대기오염물질은 특히, 해풍과 같은 기상인자에 영향을 받기 쉽다. 본 연구에서는 기상자료를 분석하여 해풍과 박무발생 빈도를 평가하였으며, 온산공업단지 인근의 기상현상에 의해 영향을 받는 대기오염물질의 농도를 평가하기 위해 상층바람조건과 온위를 분석하였다. 분석결과, 박무와 해풍이 발생될 때, 미세먼지($PM_{10}$)는 각각 57.2%, 71.8%, 이산화황($SO_2$)은 46.6%, 57.7%로 고농도 현상이 나타났다. 이런 결과를 통해 박무와 해풍과 같은 기상현상이 대기오염물질의 고농도에 영향을 주는 것을 확인하였다. 온위와 상층바람조건을 활용한 상층기상을 분석한 결과, 해풍에 의한 울산석유 화학단지에서 배출된 대기오염물질의 이류가 온산공업단지 인근의 고농도 현상에 영향을 주는 것을 확인하였다. 특히, 안정한 대기조건에서 해풍이 발생했을 때, 온산공업단지의 평균농도에 비해 1.5배 이상 고농도 현상이 나타났다.

산업단지내 미세먼지 및 토양입자의 개별입자 분석 (Aerosol Characterization Study for Individual Particle of PM10, PM2.5 Observed in Industrial Area)

  • Aerosol characterization study for individual particle in Busan metropolitan industrial complex was carried out from December 2010 to August 2011. SEM(scanning electron microscope)-EDX(energy dispersive x-ray) analysis was used for the analysis of 600 single particles during the sampling periods to identify non-metallic aerosol particle sources. Average $PM_{10}$ concentration was 65.5 ${\mu}g/m^3$ in summer, 104.1 ${\mu}g/m^3$ in winter during the sample periods. And Average $PM_{2.5}$ concentration was 24.5 ${\mu}g/m^3$ in summer, 64.5 ${\mu}g/m^3$ in winter individually. Particle density, enrichment factor, correlation analysis, principle component analysis were performed based on chemical composition data. Particle density distribution was measured to 2~4 $g/cm^3$, and the density of $PM_{2.5}$ was measured above 3 $g/cm^3$. In general, the elements Si, Ca, Fe and Al concentrations were higher in all samples of individual particles. The non-ferrous elements Zn, Br, Pb, Cu concentrations were higher in summer than in winter. The concentrations were not changed with the seasons because of non-ferrous industry emission pattern.

서울북부 지역 미세먼지에 함유된 유해 중금속의 분석 및 건강위해성평가 (Health Risk Assessment of Heavy Metals in Fine Particles Collected in Seoul Metropolitan Area)

  • Particulate materials (PM) less than 10 ${\mu}m$ in diameter are of special interest in air pollution because they are respirable and responsible for the increasing mortality rate of lung cancer and cardiovascular diseases. These particles are often referred to as $PM_{10}$ and they are divided into a coarse fraction and a fine fraction which is also often referred to as $PM_{25}$. In this study, we monitored the TSP, $PM_{10},\;PM_{2.5}$ concentration of ambient air collected in northern part of Seoul in early spring and measured the concentration of heavy metals; Cr, Mn, Zn, As, Cd, and Pb. All the heavy metals were found in the collected particles and the concentrations were variable in the $PM_{10},\;and\;PM_{2.5}$ respectively. The detected concentration ranges were Cr: $ND\~2,889ng/m^3,\;Mn:2.4\~257.9ng/m^3,\;Zn:ND\~353.7ng/m^3,\; As:ND\~22.3ng/m^3,\;Cd:0.1\~2.9ng/m^3,\;and\;Pb:ND\~392.2ng/m^3$ in fine particles. Heavy metal toxicity of the particles were also tested in $H_9C_2$ cell line derived from rat cardiomyocytes. As for the results of health risk assessment calculated by unit risk of IRIS, heavy metals in ambient air of Seoul metropolitan area were found to be responsible for the increase of total excess cancer risk. Among them, chromium (hexavalent) was found to be the most risky in fine particles of ambient air collected in the northern part of Seoul in early spring.

부산지역 2021년 2월 1일~2일 연속적인 2개의 한랭전선 통과 시 기상요소와 미세먼지 농도의 특성 (Meteorological Parameters and Fine Particle Concentration during Two Successive Cold Fronts in Busan on 1~2 February 2021 )

  • This study investigated the weather conditions, fine particle concentration, and ion components in PM2.5 when two cold fronts passed through Busan in succession on February 1 and 2, 2021. A analysis of the surface weather chart, AWS, and backward trajectory revealed that the first cold front passed through the Busan at 0900 LST on February 1, 2021, with the second cold front arriving at 0100 LST on February 2, 2021. According to the PM10 concentration of the KMA, the timing of the cold front passage had a close relationship with the occurrence of the highest concentration of fine particles. The transport time of the cold front from Baengnyeongdo to Mt. Gudeok was approximately 11 hours . The PM10 and PM2.5 concentrations in Busan started to increase after the first cold front had passed, and the maximum concentration occurred two hours after the second cold front passed. The SO42-, NO3-, and NH4+ concentration in PM2.5 started to increase from 1100 to 1200 LST on February 1, after the first cold front passed, and peaked at 0100 LST to 0300 LST on February 2. However, the highest Ca2+ concentration was recorded 2-3 hours after the second cold front had passed.

공동주택 전열교환기 필터종류 및 두께에 따른 미세먼지 제거율 평가 (Evaluation of Particulate Matter Removal Rate according to Filter Type and Thickness of Total Heat Exchanger in Apartment Houses)

  • This study examined the particulate removal performance of three different types of air filters inside a heat exchanger. Of interest was the ability of each filter type in reducing the transmission of outdoor particulate matter of PM10 from entering an apartment while the heat exchanger was in operation. The study tested one commonly used medium filter (E11 grade) and two HEPA filters (H13 grade) of different thicknesses. Two different concentrations of particulate matter were used in the experiment to address different ambient air quality conditions in Korea, 32.75 ㎍/㎥ and 67.26 ㎍/㎥. Study results indicated that under the particulate matter concentration of 32.75 ㎍/㎥, all three filters were capable of removing more than 95% of the fine dust. However at a particulate matter concentration of 67.26 ㎍/㎥, the medium E11 grade filter was only able to remove about 90% of the particulates whereas the HEPA H13 grade filters were able to remove 95% or more of the particulates. The thicker HEPA filter (40T) was also more effective in removing particulates than the thinner HEPA filter (20T) by about 1.6 to 3 percentage points. Based on the findings of this study, it is recommended that HEPA filters of 20T thickness or greater be used during the high air pollution seasons of winter and spring in Korea while medium filters can be used during the other seasons to reduce outdoor air pollution transmission indoors.

서산지역의 대기질 경년변화 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Trends of Air Quality and Characteristics in Seosan Area of Korean Penninsula)

  • 본 연구에서는 1998년부터 2006년까지 9년 동안의 서산 지역 대기오염물질 농도 변화 특성을 조사하였다. 조사 결과, 최근 3년 동안 CO와 $O_3$을 제외한 $SO_2,\;NO_2$ 및 PM-10은 농도 변화가 거의 없는 안정화 단계를 보였다. $NO_2$, CO 및 $SO_2$의 월평균농도 변화는 여름철에 감소하다. 겨울철에 증가하는 경향을 보였으며 $O_3$과 PM-10은 봄철에 높은 농도를 보이며, 강수가 집중되는 여름철에 가장 낮은 농도분포를 보였다. 2006년 12월까지 오존의 1시간 기준치인 0.1 ppm을 초과한 횟수는 동문동이 68회, 독곶리 93회였고 8시간 기준치인 0.06 ppm을 초과한 횟수는 동문동 210회, 독곶리 213회였다. 또한 미세먼지의 경우 24시간기준인 $150{\mu}g/m^3$을 초과한 횟수가 동문동 25회, 독곶리 54회로 나타났다.

습식전기집진기를 활용한 입자상 물질 및 황산화물 저감 성능에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on Reduction of Particulate Matter and Sulfur Dioxide Using Wet Electrostatic Precipitator)

  • 본 연구에서는 강화되는 황산화물 및 입자상물질의 배출규제를 만족시키기 위한 후처리장치로 습식전기집진기에 대한 실험적 연구를 수행하였다. 실험을 위해 선박용 중유(HFO, 황함유량 약 2.1%)를 연료로 사용하는 선박용 4행정 디젤엔진(STX-MAN B&W)을 활용하였으며, 연돌에 설치된 습식전기집진기 입/출구에서 측정을 실시하였다. 미세먼지 측정을 위해서는 광학식 계측기(OPA-102) 및 중량농도측정방식(Method 5 Isokinetic Train)을 이용하였으며, 황산화물 계측을 위해서는 FT-IR(DX-4000)을 사용하였다. 엔진부하는 50%, 75%, 100%로 변화시키면서 실험을 실시하였다. 실험 결과로, 엔진부하가 50%에서 100%로 변화함에 따라 미세먼지 저감 효율은 모든 부하 조건에서 94~98% 정도의 높은 저감 효율을 나타내었다. 추가적으로 습식전기집진기 퀜칭존에서 배기가스의 온도를 낮추는 과정 중 세정액에 의한 이산화황(SO2) 저감을 확인할 수 있었으며, 저감율은 엔진부하에 따라 55%~81%로 확인되었다.

미세먼지의 di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate가 유도한 피부상피세포 사멸 신호전달기전 연구 (Di(2-ethylhexyl) Phthalate Induces the Apoptotic Cell Death Mediated by Production of Reactive Oxygen Species in Human Keratinocyte)

  • Particulate matter with an aerodynamic diameter of less than 2.5 μM (PM2.5) is one of the major environmental pollutants. Di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), an endocrine disrupting chemical in PM2.5, has been utilized for the manufacturing of polyvinyl chloride to increase the flexibility of final products. In the present study, we investigated the ecotoxicological effect of DEHP on the viability of skin keratinocytes (HaCaT). DEHP induced apoptotic cell death mediated by phosphorylation of extracellular signal-regulated kinase through the production of intracellular Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS). Interestingly, we found that DEHP induces the phosphorylation of the nuclear factor-kappa B responsible for the expression of cleaved caspase-3 as an executional cell death protease in HaCaT cells. On the basis of these results, we suggest that DEHP in PM2.5 induces the apoptotic death of human keratinocytes via ROS-mediated signaling events.
