Analysis of the Flight Trajectory Characteristics of North Korea SLBM (북한 SLBM의 비행특성 해석)

  • This research focuses on analysis of the flight trajectory characteristics of SLBM (Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile) of North Korea. Recently, North Korea tested launching of SLBM which is threatening international security. Also it is known that North Korea had possessed the technologies about SLBM since they disassembled submarines out of commission of the former Soviet Union. If the development of the SLBM of North Korea is completed, it should be affected as asymmetric threat to South Korea. Therefore, for active respondence to these threat, it is essential to analyze the SLBM systematically. In this point of view, this work made a SLBM flight model and simulated. In addition, we controled flight trajectories according to adjusting loft angle and described their characteristics. The sea-based ballistic missile defense system is required for an effective response to the flight trajectory of the SLBM from mid-course to terminal phase.

  • North Korea has recently developed and deployed missiles with various ranges as asymmetrical forces. Among them, short-range ballistic missiles with improved accuracy are expected to aim at achieving tactical goals by hitting important military facilities in Korea with a small number of missiles. Damage to the air force airfields, one of North Korea's main targets of missiles attack, could limit the operation of air force fighters essential to gaining air superiority. Based on the attack by the short range ballistic missiles, the damage probability of military airfields was simulated. And as the one of the concepts of passive defense, the way to reduce the loss of combat power was studied through the changes of the air force squadrons deployment. As a result, the effective deployment plan could be obtained to reduce the amount of power loss compared to the current deployment.

  • The ballistic missile is very threatening weapon system because it is difficult to detect and intercept due to fast speed. Recently, many countries worry about North Korea's ballistic missile launching tests especially the success of launching Kwangmyongsong-3 satellite by Eunha-3 long range rocket at 2012. This event means announcement of North Korea have capability to develop ICBM(Intercontinental Ballistic Missile) to all over the world. In this paper, it is surveyed and described that history, types and threat of ballistic missiles.

A Change of U.S. Ballistic Missile Defense Strategy (미국 탄도미사일방어 전략의 변화)

  • The United States has built a missile defense system from the Cold War era, but since the end of the Cold War era, there have been many changes in international situation and threats. The forces of power divided between the United States and the Soviet Union have become increasingly threatened by China's willingness to expand its external influence, declaration of strong Russia and North Korea and Iran's nuclear armament and advanced ballistic missile technology. In response to this threat change, the Missile Defense Agency(MDA) has established strategies and policies, but its parent law has not been revised. United States changed to the FY2017 National Defense Authorization Act (FY2017 NDAA) including changed missile defense strategy. In this paper, I check US ballistic missile defense strategies included in the FY2017 NDAA and compare what changes have been made in existing strategies.

  • A MWR(Missile Warning Radar) of GVES(Ground Vehicle Equipment System) has to effectively decide the threat for a detected target. Linear Approximation Fitting(LAF) and Weighted Linear Approximation Fitting(WLAF) algorithm is proposed as algorithm for a threat decision method. The target is classified into a threat or non-threat using a boundary condition of the angular rate, and the boundary condition is determined using probability model simulation. This paper confirms the performance of proposed threat decision algorithm using measurement.

  • 오늘날 기동하는 장갑부대 및 기계화부대등 고가의 군사자산 보호는 제5의 위협으로 상정한바 있는 지상공격기(항공기, 유도미사일, 무인항공기 등)의 다양한 공격위협과 교전할 수 있는 전천후 방공능력이 절실히 요구되고 있기 때문에 서방 선진국은 저고도용 지대공 미사일(스팅어, 스타버스트, 미스트랄, RBS-70, 이글라 등)개발과 단일 장갑 차량에 "복합 방공무기체계"를 경쟁적으로 개발 및 운용하고, 중단거리 기동 방공체계를 연구 개발중이다. 특히 고도로 유동적인 장차전의 전장환경에서 적은 최신 무기로 공중침투 공격을 감행할 것으로 예상된다. 따라서 이 글에서는 선진국의 "저고도 대공방어 무기체계"를 고찰하고자 한다.

  • Since V-2, the first ballistic missile was developed during world war II, ballistic missile threat is increasing consistently due to science technology progress. United States is constructing and operating BMDS(Ballistic Missile Defense System) to defend homeland and allies. Various Interceptors will try intercept ballistic missile detected by sensors at boost phase, midcourse phase or terminal phase. THAAD(Terminal High Altitude Area Defense) is intercept system that intercept ballistic missile at high altitude of terminal phase. In this paper, concept of U.S. BMDS, and operational and technical characteristics of THAAD is surveyed and described.

  • During the modern battlefields of multi-batches flight formation attack situation, it is an essential task for a commander to make a proper fire distribution of air defense missile launch platforms for threat targets with effectively and quickly. Pan et al. try to solve this problem using genetic algorithm, but they are fails. This paper gets the initial feasible solution using high threat target first destroying strategy only use 75% available fire of each missile launch platform. Then, the assigned missile is moving to another target in the case of decreasing total threat. As a result of experiment, while the proposed algorithm is polynomial-time complexity greedy algorithm but this can be improve the solution than genetic algorithm.
