PhotoToc: an Implementation of a Ranking System by using User Favor-Based Metrics (포토톡 : 사용자 선호 기반 멀티미디어 콘텐츠 랭킹 시스템의 구현)

  • Recently, multimedia applications using internet are increasing by emergency of UCC. The retrieval of photo, video, audio is a main issue to increase utility of access and efficiency of access time. But the exist multimedia applications do not provide the practical ranking system. They provide only simple ranking system using metric. This paper provides "PhotoToc", the user favor-based multimedia ranking system, that can provide differenced view to users. The proposed system has a to retrieve the user centered results.

  • Many personalized Services that provide users with adaptive information according to users' requirements and preferences have been researched and developed. However, existing approaches are difficult to share a user's information among heterogeneous services because these approaches manage users' preferences in a single system. In this paper, we propose a user preference sharing model based on the Semantic Web as a solution to resolve the problem. Our model enables user preferences to be described and shared over service-specific ontologies which are affected by the feature of each service. Our model is analyzed and evaluated with an implementation of the middleware that supports our model. Our approach has the advantage of providing more efficient personalized services than existing approaches because it can describe users' preferences centering around each service and share these information among heterogeneous personalized services.

Preference-Based Segment Buffer Replacement in Cluster VOD Servers (클러스터 VOD서버에서 선호도 기반 세그먼트 버퍼 대체 기법)

  • To support the QoS streams for large scale clients, the internal resources of VOD servers should be utilized based on the characteristics of the streaming media service. Among the various resources in the server, the main memory is used for the buffer space to the media data loaded from the disks and the buffer hit ratio has a great impact upon the server performance. However, if the buffer data with high hit ratio are replaced for the new media data as a result of the number of clients and the required movie titles are increased, the negative impact on the scalability of server performance is occurred. To address this problem, the buffer replacement policy considers the intrinsic characteristics of the streaming media such as the sequential access to large volume data and the highly disproportionate preference to specific movies. In this paper, the preference-based segment buffer replacement policy is proposed in the cluster-based VOD server to exploit the characteristics of the streaming media. Since the proposed method reflects both the temporal locality by the clients' preference and the spatial locality by the sequential access to media data, the buffer hit ratio would be improved as compared to the existing buffer replacement policy. The enhanced buffer hit ratio causes the fact that the performance scalability of the cluster-based VOD server is linearly improved as the number of cluster nodes is increased.

  • Patterns for generating and consuming contents are various in these days from conventional broadcasting contents to UCC. There are many researches on developing recommendation engines based on user's profile for providing desired contents. In this paper we propose a contents recommendation system using not only user's profile but other's profiles in closed user group of the social network based on patterns for user's consuming contents. The proposed recommendation agent update user's profile using usage history and other's profiles related to the user in the closed user group.

  • It is expected that intelligent broadcasting service (IBS) will be able to provide broadcast programs based on user preference and program-associated information (metadata) in order to assist users to easily navigate the program contents being broadcast. So users can access program contents anytime/anywhere in the way they want. In this paper we propose a framework for IBS based on an intelligent software agent platform so called FIPA (Foundation for Intelligent Physical Agents). We use an FIPA implementation. so called FIPA-OS, as a platform for exchanging user preferences and program information as FIPA messages between a server and clients. The user preference is modeled as the User Preference description scheme in MPEG-7 MDS (Multimedia Description Scheme).

  • The development of web service area enables to integrate the various existing systems into web, which have been utilized to the several fields such as education business and companies. The e-learning could be an important teaching method for English education in that the learners prefer to use of the visual material in language learning. The students are provided with the motivation of learning for it is interesting to them. The purpose of this study is to research the problems so that web service can be organized efficiently for the education of English. In addition, this paper is to suggest an alternation of the direction for development of skills to solve the existing problems.

  • This study is to analyze the differences of consumer preferences between the terrestrial DMB and satellite DMB in various segment groups by using survey data. We categorized the consumers by the DMB preference patterns into four groups, i.e., non users group, terrestrial only users group, satellite only users group, dual users group. And then we analyzed the differences among these four segment groups in demographic characteristics, behavior patterns on telecommunication and broadcasting services, life-style, attitudes to DMB services.

  • 대용량 모바일 기기의 발전과 보급이 확산됨에 따라 사용자들은 사진, 음악, 동영상과 같은 멀티미디어 콘텐츠를 대량으로 휴대하며 이용할 수 있게 되었다. 그러나, 이러한 대량의 멀티미디어 콘텐츠 관리는 사용자 각자에게 맡겨져 있어 콘텐츠 관리를 어렵게 하고 있는 현실이다. 본 논문에서는 분산 모바일 환경에서 멀티미디어 콘텐츠의 공유와 추전을 통해 사용자에게 적합한 콘텐츠를 추천을 통해 제공하고, 제공된 콘텐츠는 모바일 동기화 서비스를 통해 모바일 기기로 저장하고 관리되는 '분산 모바일 환경에서 멀티미디어 콘텐츠 추전 및 검색 서비스'를 설계하고 구현하였다. 제안된 시스템은 사용자의 선호 프로파일 정보로 협업 필터링을 통해 공유된 멀티미디어 콘텐츠 중에서 사용자에게 적합한 콘텐츠를 추천해 주고, 추천된 콘텐츠는 모바일 기기 사용자의 행동에 따라 모바일 동기화 서비스를 통해 모바일 기기에 저장과 관리, 검색이 된다. 본 논문에서 제안된 방법은 추천과 검색을 통해 사용자 모바일 기기의 멀티미디어 콘텐츠를 효율적으로 관리 할 수 있다. 이처럼 본 논문에서 제안된 서비스 방법은 멀티미디어 콘텐츠의 추천과 모바일 동기화 서비스로 능동적인 콘텐츠 관리를 제공하며, 사용자에게 효율적인 콘텐츠 검색 기법과 활용 방법을 제공 할 수 있다.

  • UHDTV방송을 준비하면서 대용량 영상데이터의 전송이 중요시 되고 있다. 그러나 이용자의 미디어 이용행태는 언제 어디서나 쉽게 이용할 수 있는 매체를 더 선호하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 수신능률을 높이고, 향후 8K UHDTV 등 초고화질 서비스도 가능하도록 TV채널 폭의 확장에 의한 UHDTV방송의 효과를 제시하고자 한다.

  • LG 유플러스는 5G 서비스를 세계 최초로 상용화함에 따라 5G의 기술적 특징인 초고속, 대용량, 초저지연, 초연결의 특성으로 앞으로 실감 미디어 시대가 대두될 것에 대비, 5G 서비스 이용자들의 일상을 바꾸는 콘텐츠 서비스를 제공 중이다. 특히 이용자들이 직접 체험을 통해 5G 콘텐츠가 개개인의 일상과 밀접한 연관이 있다는 부분을 강조하여 서비스를 제공하고자 최선의 노력을 다하고 있다. 본 고에서는 이처럼 5G 서비스 이용자들이 선호하는 콘텐츠 이용을 '일상로 5G길' 팝업 스토어 운영 사례를 통해 소개하고, LG U+ 주요 서비스, 5G 콘텐츠 확산 방안, 기대 효과, 마지막으로 결론 및 주요 시사점에 대해 서술하였다.
