  • An entomophthoraceous fungus, Entomophthora planchoniana, was found in populations of the green peach aphid, Myzus persicae, at Kunsan city on June 2, 1998. Occurrence of this species has never been recorded in Korea. Microscopic observations of this fungus are described, and illustrated. Unique characters are that it forms unitunicate muscae-like conidia with $4{\sim}6$ nuclei, and is the only Entomophthora species which can attack aphids.

  • Mt. Gamak is located south of the Imjin river, near the D.M.Z.: and the spider fauna of this area has never been explored. Tile authors collected spiders from this mountain since 1972. Findings were: 1) The authors recorded 115 species of spiders belonging to 21 families, 73 genera. including 7 undetermined spcies. 2) Trachelas japonicus was added to the fauna for the first time. Identification of Dictyna sp. (W), Episinus sp. (A) and Coeloter sp. (A) have not yet been completed by the authors. 3) These materials Iwere not sufficient for general discussion and conclusions of the spider fauna of Mt. Gamak area. However, results can be summarized: 21 northern species-$19.4\%$, 5 southern species-$4.6\%$, 1 cosmopolitan species-$0.9\%$ 4) Species common with China mainland were 45($41.7\%$). 5) As the result of this survey, the spider fauna of this area is similar to that of the Chun-cheon area, located at the same latitude in central Korea.

  • Previously, only one species belonging to the genus Apophua was recorded from South Korea by Kim (1955). Here, six additional species, A. cicatricosa, A. evanescens, A. honmai, A. stena, A. sugaharai and A. tobensis, are reported for the first time in South Korea. In this paper, we provide a key to the Eastern Palaearctic species of Apophua and diagnoses, as well as photographs of South Korean species.

  • A thorny flathead fish, Rogadius asper Cuvier and Valenciennes of family Platycephalidae was collected for the first time in Pusan, Korea. The R. asper is closely similar to R. patriciae in exomorphological features but well distinguished from the following characters : a strong antrose spine of preopercle, 4 fine spines of serrations on the occipital. caudal fin with the dark vertical bands and first dorsal fin with black linear patterns. A new Korean name "Baneul-Yangtae" is proposed for the R. asper.

  • Some siphonophores were collected from the Korea Strait, $33^{\circ}59'N-129^{\circ}17'E$ and Yeosu with Issacs-Kidd Midwater trawl net in Sep. 2002. They were identified into Diphyes chamissonis is Huxley, 1859 and Abylopsis eschscholtzi(Huxley, 1859) in the suborder Calycophorae of the order Siphonophora, respectively. They are new to the Korean fauna. As a result of this work, six siphonophores of four families have been reported in Korea.
