Preliminary Framework of System and Authoring Tool for a 'Sil-Gam' Book (실감책을 위한 시스템 및 저작 도구 기본 프레임워크)

  • 최근 멀티미디어 기술과 가상/증강현실 기술의 발전으로 사용자에게 몰입감 있는 콘텐츠를 제공하는 여러 시스템들이 제안되고 있다. 또한 기존의 시각과 음향효과만으로 이루어진 시스템의 한계를 넘어서 실제와 같은 느낌을 전달할 수 있는 햅틱기술을 적용하여 보다 몰입감있는 체험형 실감책들이 고안되고 있다. 본 논문은 과학교과서를 중심으로 과학적 이론을 보다 효과적으로 가르치고 배우기 위해 필요한 다양한 촉감(Haptic)을 분류하고, 이를 실감책에 적용하여 책이 담고 있는 주요 내용 또는 삽화와 관련된 다양한 멀티미디어 콘텐츠를 가상/증강환경에서 시청각정보와 함께 촉각콘텐츠를 독자에게 제공함으로써 보고, 듣고 만질 수 있는 적극적인 촉감 상호작용이 가능한 실감책 ('Sil-Gam' Book) 시스템의 기본 프레임워크를 제시한다. 제시된 실감책은 크게 세 부분으로 구성된다. 첫째, 실감책을 읽고 있는 사용자의 손가락의 위치, 시선과 같은 사용자의 움직임을 추적하고 책의 크기, 페이지 등을 인식하는 센서가 부착된 센싱 부; 둘째, 장비에 따라 적용 가능한 촉감 속성, 물체의 움직임에 따라 적용할 수 있는 촉감 속성등 다양한 촉감콘텐츠의 속성을 저작하고 편집하는 소프트웨어 부; 마지막으로 사용자에게 저작된 실감 콘텐츠를 사용자가 쉽고 직관적으로 체험하게 하기 위한 디스플레이부로 구성된다. 여기서 디스플레이 부는 세부적으로 시청각 콘텐츠를 전달하는 시청각 디스플레이 부와 역촉감 콘텐츠를 전달하는 역촉감 디스플레이부로 구성된다. 본 논문에서는 또한 실감책 촉감 저작도구를 사용하여 제시할 수 있는 다양한 촉감을 중고등학교 교육과정에서 배우는 과학 이론에 적용하여 과학 실험시 경험할 수 있는 다양한 역/촉감을 전달하는 몇 가지 시나리오를 예시하였다.

Matching for the Elbow Cylinder Shape in the Point Cloud Using the PCA (주성분 분석을 통한 포인트 클라우드 굽은 실린더 형태 매칭)

  • The point-cloud representation of an object is performed by scanning a space through a laser scanner that is extracting a set of points, and the points are then integrated into the same coordinate system through a registration. The set of the completed registration-integrated point clouds is classified into meaningful regions, shapes, and noises through a mathematical analysis. In this paper, the aim is the matching of a curved area like a cylinder shape in 3D point-cloud data. The matching procedure is the attainment of the center and radius data through the extraction of the cylinder-shape candidates from the sphere that is fitted through the RANdom Sample Consensus (RANSAC) in the point cloud, and completion requires the matching of the curved region with the Catmull-Rom spline from the extracted center-point data using the Principal Component Analysis (PCA). Not only is the proposed method expected to derive a fast estimation result via linear and curved cylinder estimations after a center-axis estimation without constraint and segmentation, but it should also increase the work efficiency of reverse engineering.

Visual Object Tracking by Using Multiple Random Walkers (다중 랜덤 워커를 이용한 객체 추적 기법)

  • In this paper, we propose the visual tracking algorithm that takes advantage of multiple random walkers. We first show the tracking method based on support vector machine as [1] and suggest a method that suppresses feature vectors extracted from backgrounds while preserve features vectors from foregrounds. We also show how to discriminate between foregrounds and backgrounds. Learned by reducing influences of backgrounds, support vector machine can clearly distinguish foregrounds and backgrounds from the image whose target objects are similar to backgrounds and occluded by another object. Thus, the algorithm can track target objects well. Furthermore, we introduce a simple method improving tracking speed. Finally, experiments validate that proposed algorithm yield better performance than the state-of-the-art trackers on the widely-used benchmark dataset with high speed.

A Study on Image Recognition using Enhanced ART1 Algorithm (개선된 ART1 알고리즘을 이용한 이미지 인식에 관한 연구)

  • As time goes on, that becomes an issue still more for truth from error of a seal in electronic settlement , or in important document in the field of image recognition. But on the other hand image treatment method of a seal have has the weakness until now. It makes indistinct distinction of part that light and darkness is changed sharply as the edge of things. So it has difficult that edge detection is extracted. In this paper, I investigated the pixel in a specific area by using enhanced smothing method and searched a value of frquent occurrence. The value of pixel is substituted and edge detection is extracted. After then it could be classified rightly according as viligence test is dynamically changed. I applied conventional of Yager's generated intersection operator among fuzzy logic operator in ART1 learning Algorithm. Application of suggested ART1 learning algorithm, it results in improved image recognition rate than a case of using the conventional ART1 algorithm

  • Recently, the aim of cold storage warehouse is not only to provide preservation of the quality of perishable foods but also to use state-of-the-art information systems to rapidly move products across the cold chain. An RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) is an automatic identification method that detects signals from mobile objects, and tracks and traces movement of the objects. RFID can be used to turn a cold storage warehouses into a real-time system. In this paper, we develop an cold storage management system to support the optimized business processes with RFID system. First of all, business processes in the cold storage warehouse are analyzed. Then design factors which should be considered for incorporating RFID are defined. Design values which set to the design factors can be extracted from using RFID deployment simulator. as a result, the design values make RFID to be efficiently integrated to existing business processes.

  • The intruder detection system using digital PIR sensor has the problem that it can't recognize human correctly. In this paper, we suggest a new intruder detection system based on analog PIR sensor to get around the drawbacks of the digital PIR sensor. The analog type PIR sensor emits the voltage output at various levels whereas the output of the digitial PIR sensor is binary. The signal captured using analog PIR sensor is sampled, and its frequency feature is extracted using FFT or MFCC. The extracted features are used for the input of neural networks. After neural network is trained using various human and pet's intrusion data, it is used for classifying human and pet in the intrusion situation.

Queue Detection using Fuzzy-Based Neural Network Model (퍼지기반 신경망모형을 이용한 대기행렬 검지)

  • Real-time information on vehicle queue at intersections is essential for optimal traffic signal control, which is substantial part of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS). Computer vision is also potentially an important element in the foundation of integrated traffic surveillance and control systems. The objective of this research is to propose a method for detecting an exact queue lengths at signalized intersections using image processing techniques and a neural network model Fuzzy ARTMAP, which is a supervised and self-organizing system and claimed to be more powerful than many expert systems, genetic algorithms. and other neural network models like Backpropagation, is used for recognizing different patterns that come from complicated real scenes of a car park. The experiments have been done with the traffic scene images at intersections and the results show that the method proposed in the paper could be efficient for the noise, shadow, partial occlusion and perspective problems which are inevitable in the real world images.

  • Recently, with the excessive uses of Internet, virtual spaces for the on-line introduced VRML are emerging. The inhabited virtual world includes a complex process and human experiences. The VR interactivity is now being examined, and it is the important aspect for creating VR application which may include navigating the virtual world, turning features on and off, and interacting with other users. Therefore, the study of this field is favored with a competitive advantage to the present and future multimedia designer. Thus, the subject of this thesis is for the design of virtual world, focusing on interactivity. The contents include the types of the VR interactivity, and their classifying and studying, according to the existing theories based on the literature and web sites. The types are for the user navigation, for the user interactions with other users and objects, and for the creation of metaphors. As the results of this study, it is suggested the effective application and the proposal.

  • This paper presents a technique for localization of a mobile robot using a single ultrasonic sensor. The mobile robot is designed for operating in a well-structured environment that can be represented by planes, edges, corners and cylinders in the view of structural features. In the case of ultrasonic sensors, these features have the range information in the form of the arc of a circle that is generally named as RCD (Region of Constant Depth). Localization is the continual provision of a knowledge of position which is deduced from it's a priori position estimation. The environment of a robot is modeled into a two dimensional grid map. we defines a physically-based sonar sensor model and employs an extended Kalman filter to estimate position of the robot. The performance and simplicity of the approach is demonstrated with the results produced by sets of experiments using a mobile robot.

First Report of Three Didymella Species Isolated from Freshwater Ecosystem in Korea (담수환경에서 발굴된 Didymella속 3종의 국내 최초 보고)

  • Three fungal isolates, NNIBRFG108, 1139, and 1480, were isolated from freshwater environments; NNIBRFG108 from plant litter in Samcheok, Gangwon and NNIBRFG1139 and 1480 from the soil in Jeju & Gimcheon, Gyeongbuk, Korea. Based on the morphological characteristics and phylogenetic analysis of internal tanscribed spacer (ITS), 28S rDNA region, and ${\beta}$-tubulin gene, NNIBRFG108, NNIBRFG1139, and NNIBRFG1480 isolates were confirmed as Didymella segeticola, D. ellipsoidea, and D. aeria, respectively. Neither species has previously been described in Korea.
