A Study on Physico-Chemical Properties on Mixed Fuel Oil of Very Low Sulfur Fuel Oil-High Sulfur Fuel Oil (VLSFO-HSFO) (저유황-고유황 혼합연료유의 물리화학적 특성연구)

  • In accordance with the sulfur regulations of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), very low sulfur fuel oil (VLSFO) shows various production-dependent physico-chemical properties. This study aims to use as basic data for oil spill response according to study of physico-chemical characteristics of VLSFO and mixed fuel oil of VLSFO-HSFO. The mixed fuel oil was prepared by mixing 25, 50, 75 mass% of HSFO with VLSFO containing 0.46 and 0.36 mass% of sulfur. The physico-chemical properties such as the kinematic viscosity, pour point and distribution of Saturates, Aromatics, Resins, and Asphaltenes (SARA) were studied in the laboratory. As mixed of 75 mass% of HSFO with high the kinematic viscosity and low pour point in VLSFO, the kinematic viscosity of the mixed fuel oil increased to 350.2 %, and VLSFO with pour point of 23℃ and -11℃ lowered or raised to -3℃ and -6℃ respectively. As HSFO was mixed in VLSFO with a small Asphaltenes distribution, the Saturates distribution decreased to 68.8% and Asphaltenes distribution increased to 1,417 % dramatically.

  • 본 연구에서는 반도체제조에 필수적으로 사용되는 플라즈마장비의 성능을 예측.분석하여 개발 시간 및 비용의 절감과 장비의 성능을 극대화 할 수 있도록 이론적 전산모사 환경(VIP-SEPCAD)을 개발하고 있다. VIP-SEPCAD는 플라즈마의 물리.화학적 특성을 예측하는 plasma model, 중성화학종들의 반응 및 유돈 특성을 예측하는 neutral reaction-transport model, particle의 유동 특성을 예측하는 particle transport model, particle의 생성 및 성장 특성을 예측하는 particle formation-growth model, 식각 또는 증착되는 웨이퍼 표면변화를 예측하는 surface evolution model로 구성되어 있다. 현재 개발된 VIP-SEPCAD를 이용하여 산소 플라즈마의 특성과 각종 화학성분들의 분포를 예측하고 particle의 거동에 대하여 분석하였다.

The Quality Characteristics of Makgeolli Based on Input Timing of Nuruk (누룩 투입시기에 따른 막걸리의 품질특성)

  • The research and the experiments were on physicochemical characteristics of Makgeolli based on input timing of Nuruk in the brewing processes, i.e., making mitsul with step-1/step-2 mashing, and making Takju with step-3 mashing, to establish the optimal conditions required for Makgeolli by checking the change of physicochemical characteristics and by inspecting culture characteristics based on input timing of Nuruk. When testing the physicochemical characteristics of mitsul(step-1/step-2), pH and acidity were reduced drastically on Day 1 of culture with step-1 mashing and the trend continued until Day 2 of culture, while there was no large change since then. In the sensory test, the aroma was the highest in M3 at 4.47, the acerbic taste was the highest in M3 at 3.65, the sweet taste was the highest in M1 at 3.88, and the feel in the mouth was the highest in M1 at 3.59. Overall preference encompassing aroma and taste was the highest in M3 at 3.71.

  • 이 글에서는 나노스케일의 직경을 갖는 섬유를 빠른 생산속도로 제작할 수 있는 전기방사공정(electrospinning process)에 대한 개요와 조직공학용 지지체(tissue engineering scaffold)로의 응용을 위한 제조방법에 대해 소개하고자 한다. 세포의 증식, 분화 등의 생물학적 활동에 기반한 조직공학 및 조직재생 분야에서는 일시적 또는 영구적으로 세포가 부착하여 생장할 수 있는 지지체(scaffold)의 활용이 필수적이다. 세포가 이상적으로 성장할 수 있는 지지체를 제작하기 위해서는 세포의 부착 특성, 화학적/물리적/구조적 성장 환경 등이 고려되어야 한다. 따라서 이상적인 세포 성장 환경을 구현하기 위해 실제 세포 주변의 미세환경(microenvironmenr)조건을 모사하는 연구가 많이 이루어지고 있다. 세포외기질(extracellular matrix)이라고 하는 나노크기의 직경을 갖는 섬유기반의 세포 주변 환경을 모사하는 방법의 하나로 전기방사 공정이 '90년대에 들어 활용되기 시작하였다. 현재까지도 전기방사를 이용하여 제작되는 나노섬유는 공정조건 및 재료를 다양하게 응용하여 조직의 물리 화학적 특성을 잘 반영할 수 있는 장점이 있어 조직공학용 지지체로서 광범위하게 활용되고 있다.

  • Parts of damaged trees are being transplanted in accordance with the Environmental Impact Assessment Manual. Problems such as death or poor growth are constantly being addressed in the process of transplanting trees from the forest they originally inhabited to temporary and final transplant sites. The purpose of this study is to analyze the differences in soil properties in the surrounding forest, the temporary transplant site, and the construction site and to suggest methods for improving the soil to make it suitable for the growth of transplanted trees. For 10 development projects, 2 soil samples were sampled from the surrounding forest, temporary transplant site, and construction site. A total of 60 soil samples were analyzed for physical and chemical properties. Among the physical properties such as coefficient of permeability, available moisture, and hardness, and chemical properties such as acidity, organic matter content, total nitrogen, and available P showed significant differences among groups. The soil of the construction site is harder than the surrounding forest because of construction equipments, the coefficient of permeability is higherthan the surrounding forest because of high sand content, and the available moisture was low. It does not retain the moisture necessary for plants in the soil and drains immediately. It is necessary to implement tillage to improve the physical properties and structure of the soil. In addition, it is necessary to cover the surface with wood chips or fallen leaves after adding mature organic matter to improve the physical and chemical properties of the soil together.

Physical and Chemical Characteristics of Waste Automotive Catalysts (자동차 폐촉매의 물리 화학적 특성)

  • The physico-chemical characteristics and the combustion activities of a waste automotive catalyst were carried out in this study. The physico-chemical characteristics of waste automotive catalyst was examined by EA(Elemental analysis), ICP-AES (Inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrophotometer), and XRD(X-ray diffraction) analysis. Carbon deposit amount was higher in front brick than rear brick of catalyst, and increased with mileage. The content of Pt. Pd and Rh in waste automotive catalyst was different from the car manufacturing company. The combustion activities of waste automotive catalyst were investigated for acetaldehyde as a model VOC in a fixed bed reactor at atmospheric pressure. The catalytic activity of rear brick for acetaldehyde combustion was better than front brick of waste automotive catalyst. The catalytic activity of waste automotive catalyst for acetaldehyde combustion decreased with mileage. The linear relationship between catalytic activity and mileage was negative and has a very excellent correlation. Finally, the waste automotive catalyst has a good catalytic activity for acetaldehyde combustion. and can be used to control of small emission source.

  • Physical characteristics of a magneto-rheological(MR) fluid can be influenced by a magnetic field. MR fluid is a suspension of micrometer-sized magnetic particles in a base liquid such as oil. Therefore, the key issue is dispersion stability because density of micrometer-sized magnetic particles are different from that of oil. In the present study, dispersion stability and physical characteristics along chemical compositions of MR fluid are investigated. 216 kinds of MR fluids are made by using magnetic powder(#2), surfactant(#2), base oil(#2), functional additive(#3), density(#3) and viscosity(#3). From experimental results, SEM photograph, magnetic flux density, supernatant and sediment of 216 kinds of MR fluids are obtained.

  • TiO$_2$ 박막은 높은 굴절률과 유전 상수를 가지며, 가시광선과 근적외선 영역에서 우수한 투과성을 나타낸다. 따라서, 전기적, 광학적 특성이 우수한 광학코팅에 응용되고 있다. 또한 화학적으로 안정하고 비교적 큰 에너지 밴드 갭을 지닌 반도체 물질로서 유전체 다층 박막을 제작하는데 있어서 중요한 물질로 사용되고 있다. TiO$_2$ 박막을 제작하기 위한 물리적인 방법으로는 sputtering, anodic 또는 thermal, e-beam evaporation 등이 이용되고 있으며, sol-gel법, CVD 등과 같은 화학적인 방법도 이용되고 있다. (중략)

Physico-chemical Properties of the Bentonites Used for the Civil Engineering Works in Korea (국내 토목용 벤토나이트의 물리화학적 특성)

  • Bentonites that are used currently for the civil engineering puppose in our country were investigated to reveal their physico-chemical properties such as viscosity, swelling volume, cation exchange capacity (CEC) and chemical composition, and to compare the content of their constituting minerals and their characteristics using the X-ray diffraction and infrared spectrum methods. The content of montmorillonite in the hentonites ranges from 50 to 79%. As the content of montmorillonite in the hentonites increases, the viscosity, swelling volume, water content, methylene blue adsorption, CEC, and the amount of clay-size particles tend to increase in general. Because these properties also show good correlation within them, the results can he used to infer the characteristics of hentonites indirectly. However, a few samples do not show this correlation hetween the properties. This is probably due to the characteristics of constituting minerals of raw ore and manufacturing process. A saraple with lowest content of rnontrnofiiionite was shown to be inferior in the physico-chemical properties that are needed for the civil engineering-purpose bentonites.
