  • In this paper, we construct the TMO-based object group model on distributed environment, and analyze and evaluate the executability for distributed real-time service of our object group model by developing the distributed real-time application simulator applying the model. The Time-triggered Message-triggered Object(TMO) is a real-time server object having real-time property itself. The TMO-based object group is defined as a set of objects which logically reconfigured the physically distributed one or more TMOs on network by a given distributed application. For supporting group management of the server objects, the TMO-based object group we suggested provides the functions which register and withdraw the solver objects as a group member to an arbitrary object group, and also provides the functions which insert and delete the access rights of server objects from clients. Also, our model was designed and implemented to support the appropriate object selection and dynamic binding service for a single TMO as well as the duplicated TMOs, and to support the real-time scheduling service for the clients which are requesting the service. Finally, we developed the Defence System against Invading Enemy Planes(DSIEP) simulator as a practical example of distributed real-time application by applying our model, and evaluated the adaptability of distributed service strategies for the group components and the executability of real-time services that the TMO-based object group model provides.

  • Variations in water temperature are known to affect almost every part of fish physiology. The rise in water temperature due to climate change can physically damage fish. This study was conducted to evaluate the health status of the Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) at high water temperature (20℃) than the optimum water temperature (15℃). Liver tissue exerts important metabolic functions in thermal adaptation. Therefore, liver tissue was used in this study. The evaluation method is to develop the biomarker gene using NGS RNAseq analysis and to examine the expression pattern using RT-qPCR analysis. The NGS RNAseq analysis revealed 1,366 differentially expressed genes, among which 880 genes were increase expressed and 486 genes were decrease expressed. The biomarker genes are such as heat shock protein 90 alpha (Hsp90α), heat shock protein 90 beta (Hsp90β) and cytochrome P450 1A (CYP1A). The selected genes are sensitive to changes in water temperature through NGS RNAseq analysis. Expression patterns of these genes through RT-qPCR were similar to those of NGS RNAseq analysis. The results of this study can be applied to other fish species and it is considered to be useful industrially.

  • Digital twin is an M&S (Modeling and Simulation) technology designed to solve or optimize problems in the real world by replicating physical objects in the real world as virtual objects in the digital world and predicting phenomena that may occur in the future through simulation. Digital twins have been elaborately designed and utilized based on data collected to achieve specific purposes in large-scale environments such as cities and industrial facilities. In order to apply this digital twin technology to real life and expand it into user-customized service technology, practical but sensitive issues such as personal information protection and personalization of simulations must be resolved. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a federated learning-based accelerated client training method (FACTS) for personalized digital twins. The basic approach is to use a cluster-driven federated learning training procedure to protect personal information while simultaneously selecting a training model similar to the user and training it adaptively. As a result of experiments under various statistically heterogeneous conditions, FACTS was found to be superior to the existing FL method in terms of training speed and resource efficiency.

  • In this paper, we propose new broadcasting services that combine MMT (MPEG Media Transport) standard with MPEG-DASH (Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP) standard. MMT is a next-generation multimedia transport standard that is IP-friendly and provides functionalities appropriate for hybrid broadcasting that uses broadcast physical channels and the Internet simultaneously. MPEG-DASH enables media streaming services that can be dynamically adaptive both to the network traffic conditions of wired and/or wireless Internet and the receiving entity environment. We explain the scenarios of the proposed broadcasting services and demonstrate that various hybrid broadcasting services can be easily realized through the combined usage of MMT and MPEG-DASH. By making the test bitstreams containing contents for the new services and developing the receiver back-end software that performs the function of the receiving entity for the new services on personal computers, we verified that the proposed scenarios can be realized.

  • In order to examine the differences in antioxidant enzyme activities which represent defence mechanism to stressful environments, and soil properties between healthy and declining (or unhealthy) trees, we selected three sites, Witseorum, Youngsil and Sungpanak (Jindallebat). Antioxidant enzymes including Ascorbate peroxidase (APX) and Glutathione Reductase (GR), forest soil properties including soil texture, soil pH, organic matter, total nitrogen, available phosphate, cation exchange capacity, exchangeable cation content and nutrient contents in leaves of Abies koreana (Korean fir) trees were analyzed. There were no significant differences between healthy and declining trees in GR activity. However, seasonal difference in antioxidant enzyme activity was observed. GR activity was lower in June and August than that of September. Soil chemical and physical properties of each site showed a tendency that organic content, total nitrogen content, available phosphorus, cation exchange capacity and cation content were lower at the site of declining trees than the site of healthy trees.

  • 3G Long Term Evolution, which aims for various mobile multimedia service provision by enhanced wireless interface, proposes VoIP-based voice service through a Packet Switching (PS) domain. As delay and loss-sensitive VoIP traffic flows through the PS domain, more challenging technical difficulties are expected than in Circuit Switching (CS) domain based VoIP services. Moreover, since 3G LTE, which adopts the OFDM as its physical layer, introduces Physical Resource Block (PRB) as a unit for transmission resources, new types of resource management schemes are needed. This paper proposes a PRB scheduling algorithm of MAC layer for VoIP service in 3G LTE and shows the simulation results. The proposed algorithm has two key parts; dynamic activation of VoIP priority mode to satisfy VoIP QoS requirements and adaptive adjustment of the priority mode duration in order to minimize the degradation of resource utilization.

Half a degree Additional warming, Prognosis and Projected Impacts (HAPPI)의 다중 모델 앙상블 시뮬레이션 결과를 이용했다.

  • There are increasing evidences of climate change in the Antarctic and Arctic Oceans, especially elevated temperature due to the continuous burning of the fossil fuels and ultraviolet B(UV-B) flux within the ozone hole. Light-dependent, temperature-sensitive, and fast-growing organisms respond to these physical and biogeochemical changes. Polar marine phytoplankton, which are pioneer endemic species and important carbon contributors in the polar waters, are therefore highly suitable biological indicators of such changes. By virtue of light requirement, the primary producers are exposed to extreme seasonal fluctuations in temperature, photosynthetically active radiation, and UV radiation. Local environmental warming and increased UV-B radiation during ozone depletion may have profound effects on the primary producers that are primary carbon producers in the polar water. Small changes in climate temperature and solar radiation may have profound effects on the activity threshold of the polar phytoplanktion. To demonstrate biological response to the environmental changes, standardized representative natural and biological parameters are needed so that replicate samples (including controls) can be taken over extended periods of time. In this paper, we review general characteristics of polar phytoplankton, their environment, environmental changes in the polar waters, the effects on the environmental changes to the polar phytoplankton, and the importance of the polar phytoplankton to understand the global environmental changes. • Amultiresolution filtering algorithm based on the physical SPECT lesion detachability provides and optimal solution for SPECT reconstruction problem. Related to the previous study, we estimated the SPECT lesion detection capability by m minimum detectable lesion sizes (MDLSs), and generated m reconstruction filters which are designed to maximize the smoothing effect at a fixed MDLS-dependent resolution level $\frac{MDLS}{4\sqrt{2In2}}$. The proposed multiresolution filtering algorithm used a coarse-to-fine approach for the m-level resolution filter images obtained from these m filters for a given projection image. First, the local homogeneity is determined for every pixel of the filter images, by comparing the local variance value computed in a window centered at the pixel and the mode determined from the distribution of the local variances. Based on the local homogeneity, the pixels declared as homogeneous are chosen from the filter image of the lowest resolution, and for the other pixels the same process is repeated for the higher resolution filter images. For the non-homogeneous pixels after this pixels after this repetition process ends, the pixel values of the highest resolution filter image are substituted. From the results of the simulated experiments, the proposed multiresolution filtering algorithm showed a strong smoothing effect in the homogeneous regions and a significant resolution improvement near the edge regions of the projection images, and so produced good adaptability effects in the reconstructed images.

  • The analog image based system consisted of a simulator and medical linear accelerator (LINAC) for radiotherapy was upgraded to digital medical image based system by exchanging the X-ray film with Computed Radiography (CR). With minimum equipments shift and similar treatment process, it was possible that the new digital image system was adapted by the users in short time. The film cassette and the film developer device were substituted with a CR cassette and a CR Reader, where the ViewBox was replaced with a small size PC and a monitor. The viewer software suitable for radiotherapy was developed to maximize the benefit of digital image, and as the result the convenience and the effectiveness was improved. It has two windows to display two different images in the same time and equipped various search capability, contouring, window leveling, image resizing, translation, rotation and registration functions. In order to avoid any discontinuance of the treatment while the transition to digital image, the film and the CR was used together for 1 week, and then the film developer was removed. Since then the CR System has been operated stably for 2 months, and the various requests from users have been reflected to improve the system.
