To improve the social and economic position of the disabled people and secure their human rights, an integrated society should be buill. To build such a society, an adequate access should be provided to the movement or in using buildings or facilities. The inconveniences from social life on the part of the disabled people might not result from their impairment or disability, but from physical and social barriers in the environment surrounding them. Therefore, it is necessary to reconstruct entire systems of the society as a disabled people-friendly structure in order to remove those barriers, make them stand their own feet in our communities and freely participate in the social activities. This will eventually lead to build a society in which all people including the disabled people can use those facilities in a more convenient way. It is almost impossible for the disabled people to safely and conveniently access to and use facilities and equipments and freely move to their desired places, without any help from others in Korea. Even though, there are currently many disabled people-related convenience facilities, they have been independently built without a connection with other facilities and buildings, thus not greatly useful. Even when convenience facilities have been built, mostly they are superficially set up; therefore, in many cases, the disabled peOple cannot use those facilities. In this. research, I tried a new concept of mobile wheelchair lift design, which the disabled people can operate without restrictions, when using the public facilities. The key to this research was to develop the existing import-oriented simple functional products to a new system with functional safety and high quality orientation. Also, this research aimed at bringing an. import substitution effect, as well as preempting the mobile wheelchair lift market by advancing into overseas markets through application of new image designs in the field of disabled people aid equipments.

Stents are frequently used throughout the human body. They keep pathways open in vascular or nonvascular duct for a long time. Therefore its stability is very important factor. In recent years, aconsiderable amount of research has been carried out in order to estimate mechanical properties of the stent such as expansion pressure behavior, radial recoil and longitudinal recoil using FEM (Finite element analyses). However, published works on simulation of stent fatigue behavior using FEM are relatively rare. In this paper, a nonlinear finite-element methodwas employed to analyses the compression of a stent using external pressure and fatigue behavior. Finite element analyses for the stent system were performed using NASTRAN FX. In conclusion this paper shows how the stent is behaved in the body, and its fatigue behavior.
The backward-facing step (BFS) is a benchmark geometry for analyzing flow separation occurred at the edge and resulting development of shear layer and recirculation zone that are occupied by turbulent flow. It is important to accurately reproduce and analyze the mean flow and turbulence statistics of such flows to design physically stable and performance assurance structure. We carried out 3D RANS computations with widely used, two representative turbulence models, k-ω SST and RNG k-ε, to reproduce BFS flow at the Reynolds number of 23,000 and the Froude number of 0.22. The performance of RANS computations is evaluated by comparing numerical results with an experimental measurement. Both RANS computations with two turbulence models appear to reasonably well reproduce mean flow in the shear layer and recirculation zone, while RNG k-ε computation results in about 5% larger velocity between the outer edge of boundary layer and the free surface above the recirculation zone than k-ω SST computation and experiment. Both turbulence models underestimate the shear stress distribution experimentally observed just downstream of the sharp edge of BFS, while shear stresses computed in the boundary layer downstream of reattachment point are agree reasonably well with experimental measurement. RNG k-ε modeling reproduces better shear stress distribution along the bottom boundary layer, but overestimates shear shear stress in the approaching boundary layer and above the bottom boundary layer downstream of the BFS.
Best-estimate thermal-hydraulic codes, CATHARE2 V1.2 and RELAP5/MOD3, hate been assessed against the BETHSY 6.2 tc six-inch cold leg break loss-of-coolant accident (LOCA) test. Main objective is to analyze the overall capabilities of the two codes on physical phenomena of concern during the small break LOCA i.e. two-phase critical flow, depressurization, core water level de-pression, loop seal clearing, liquid holdup, etc. The calculation results show that the too codes predict well both in the occurrences and trends of major two-phase flow phenomena observed. Especially, the CATHARE2 calculations show better agreements with the experimental data. However, the two codes, in common, show some deviations in the predictions of loop seal clearing, collapsed core water level after the loop seal clearing, and accumulator injection behaviors. The discrepancies found from the comprision with the experimental data are larger in the RELAP5 results than in the CATHARE2. To analyze the deviations of the two code predictions in detail, several sensitivity calculations have been performed. In addition to the change of two-phase discharge coefficients for the break junction, fine nodalization and some corrections of the interphase drag term are made. For CATHARE2, the change of interphase drag force improves the mass distribution in the primary side. And the prediction of SG pressure is improved by the modification of boundary conditions. For RELAP5, any single input change doesn't improve the whole result and it is found that the interphase drag model has still large uncertainties.
In spite that the main contents of mathematical and scientific learning are understanding principles and their applications, most of existing educational softwares are based on rote learning, thus resulting in limited educational effects. In the artificial intelligence research, some progress has been made in developing automatic tutors based on proving and simulation, by adapting the techniques of knowledge representation, search and inference to the design of tutors. However, these tutors still fall short of being practical and the turor, even a prototype model, for learning problem solving is yet to come out. The geometry problem-solving tutor proposed by this research involves dynamic inference performed in parallel with learning. As an ontology for composing the problem space within a real-time setting, we have employed the notions of propositions, hypotheses and operators. Then we investigated the mechanism of interactive learning of problem solving in which the main target of inference involves the generation and the test of these components. Major accomplishment from this research is a practical model of a problem tutor embedded with a series of inference techniques for algebraic manipulation, which is indispensable in geometry problem solving but overlooked by previous research. The proposed model is expected to be applicable to the design of problem tutors in other scientific areas such as physics and electric circuitry.

For the huge section of tunnel, it is highly required to observe the role of each rock support and their effect of rock reinforcement in order to investigate more reasonable rock support structure. Especially for unstable tunnel situation with no shotcrete strength right after an excavation, sufficient investigation is needed for rock support structure. In this paper, we clarify the relations of compressive strength and material age, cohesion strength and material age, and cohesion stiffness and material age of grout with time-dependence through tests and numerical analysis simulation with trial rock mass considering hardening of bolt grouting material. By means of this process, effect of rock reinforcement for rockbolt is investigated right after an excavation and modelling and physical constants of young aged rockbolts are obtained. Additionally, the effect of rock reinforcement with hydraulic tensile friction bolt is examined right after an excavation, which grout effect is no need to be waited.
Amultiresolution filtering algorithm based on the physical SPECT lesion detachability provides and optimal solution for SPECT reconstruction problem. Related to the previous study, we estimated the SPECT lesion detection capability by m minimum detectable lesion sizes (MDLSs), and generated m reconstruction filters which are designed to maximize the smoothing effect at a fixed MDLS-dependent resolution level $\frac{MDLS}{4\sqrt{2In2}}$. The proposed multiresolution filtering algorithm used a coarse-to-fine approach for the m-level resolution filter images obtained from these m filters for a given projection image. First, the local homogeneity is determined for every pixel of the filter images, by comparing the local variance value computed in a window centered at the pixel and the mode determined from the distribution of the local variances. Based on the local homogeneity, the pixels declared as homogeneous are chosen from the filter image of the lowest resolution, and for the other pixels the same process is repeated for the higher resolution filter images. For the non-homogeneous pixels after this pixels after this repetition process ends, the pixel values of the highest resolution filter image are substituted. From the results of the simulated experiments, the proposed multiresolution filtering algorithm showed a strong smoothing effect in the homogeneous regions and a significant resolution improvement near the edge regions of the projection images, and so produced good adaptability effects in the reconstructed images.
Recently, IEEE 802.15.4a(low-rate UWB) technique has been paid much attention to the LR-UWB communication system for WPAN. However, there are various interferences such as MPI(Multi Path Interference) or IPI(Inter Piconet Interference) in IEEE 802.15.4a wireless channel. In order to cancel various interferences occurred to WPAN environment, in this paper, we propose a UWB wireless communication system with high QoS(Quality of Service) which is a chaotic-OOK(On-Off Keying) system using unipolar ZCD(Zero Correlation Duration) spreading code in physical layer level. Furthermore, we analyze its performance via simulations and verify the availability of proposed system with prototype implementation.
Video adaptation in response to dynamic resource conditions and user preferences is required as a key technology to enable universal multimedia access (UMA) through heterogeneous networks by a multitude of devices In a seamless way. Although many adaptation techniques exist, selections of appropriate adaptations among multiple choices that would satisfy given constraints are often ad hoc. To provide a systematic solution, we present a general conceptual framework to model video entity, adaptation, resource, utility, and relations among them. It allows for formulation of various adaptation problems as resource-constrained utility maximization. We apply the framework to a practical case of dynamic bit rate adaptation of MPEG-4 video streams by employing combination of frame dropping and DCT coefficient dropping. Furthermore, we present a descriptor, which has been accepted as a part of MPEG-21 Digital Item Adaptation (DIA), for supporting terminal and network quality of service (QoS) in an interoperable manner. Experiments are presented to demonstrate the feasibility of the presented framework using the descriptor.
A physically based semi-distributed model, SWAT was applied to the Chungju Dam upstream watershed in order to investigate the spatial and temporal characteristics of watershed sediment yields. For this, general features of the SWAT and sediment simulation algorithm within the model were described briefly, and watershed sediment modeling system was constructed after calibration and validation of parameters related to the runoff and sediment. With this modeling system, temporal and spatial variation of soil loss and sediment yields according to watershed scales, land uses, and reaches was analyzed. Sediment yield rates with drainage areas resulted in $0.5{\sim}0.6ton/ha/yr$ excluding some upstream sub-watersheds and showed around 0.51 ton/ha/yr above the areas of $1,000km^2$. Annual average soil loss according to land use represented the higher values in upland areas, but relatively lower in paddy and forest areas which were similar to the previous results from other researchers. Among the upstream reaches, Pyeongchanggang and Jucheongang showed higher sediment yields which was thought to be caused by larger area and higher fraction of upland than other upstream sub-areas. Monthly sediment yields at the main outlet showed same trend with seasonal rainfall distribution, that is, approximately 62% of annual yield was generated during July to August and the amount was about 208 ton/yr. From the results, we could obtain the uniform value of sediment yield rate and could roughly evaluate the effect of soil loss with land uses, and also could analyze the temporal and spatial characteristics of sediment yields from each reach and monthly variation for the Chungju Dam upstream watershed.
