Depth Map Denoising Based on the Common Distance Transform (공동 거리 변환 기반의 깊이맵 잡음 제거)

  • During depth data acquisition and transmission, the quality of depth maps is usually degraded by physical noise and coding error. In this paper, a new joint bilateral filter based on the common distance transform is presented to enhance the low-quality depth map. The proposed method determines the amount of exploitable color data according to distance transform values of depth and color pixels. Consequently, the proposed filter minimizes noise in the depth map while suppressing visual artifacts of joint bilateral filtering. Experimental results show that our method outperforms other conventional methods in terms of noise reduction and visual artifact suppression.

  • This study is which sees analyzes the distance perception of the tourist affects in tourist resort selection conduct and this leads and there is the goal provides a fundamental data to the marketing strategic establishment an area tourist resort activation. According to the research result residence of choice there was a difference to psychological distance perception, according to sex and occupation appeared with the fact that is difference to tourist resort selection conduct. The psychological distance perception while tourist resort selection acting was analyzed with the fact that affects in travel ability. The research which sees psychological distance perception affects with the scholastic questionable matter which analyzes the thing a practical questionable matter respects an area tourist resort marketing strategic establishment together in tourist resort selection conduct and provided new fundamental information.

  • In contemporary art, the process of appreciating art works requires the dichotomy between traditional art and New Media Art. This difference can be witnessed in the contrasting ways of appreciating art works; in traditional art, a certain physical and esthetic distance is placed between viewers and works of art, and in New Media Art, art is appreciated by active involvement and communication. In other words, this disparity is based on whether viewers physically involve themselves in the completion of the art works. Perhaps contemporary art can be better understood and appreciated if a single primary keyword takes the center place of art appreciation rather than allowing the dichotomy. Thus, a new approach is welcome, where art appreciation is not adversely affected through such divided means based on the degree of active participation. This is not some new introduction of jargon but the reinterpretation of contemplation, the key word for art appreciation in the past, as the common key word for both conventional art and New Media Art.

From Librarians' Perspectives on Physical Accessibility of Public Libraries (사서의 시각으로 본 공공도서관의 접근성)

  • The purpose of this study is to ascertain librarian's perceptions on their users' library access and its patterns. Interviews with seven library staff reveal physical accessibility issues including spatial relationships between libraries and other facilities such as shopping malls and schools, travel distance, transportation mode, and temporal perspectives of library access. The results from the interviews corroborate the findings from secondary analysis using household travel data. However, interviewees do not have a clear picture of how much their users travel and spend to access their libraries. This is true, even though these factors are critical to analyze physical accessibility. Based on the findings, this study makes recommendations to improve the accessibility of public libraries. Suggestions include the concept of sponsorships with other facilities, the placing of material drop-boxes on the main route, and providing library programs during lunch time.

A Study of Transfer Impedance of KTX and Rail Stations (KTX역사 및 일반철도역사의 환승저항 산정)

  • Transfer impedance is one of the most critical factors decreasing the competitive power of public transportation. Therefore, it is necessary to improve transfer impedance of KTX and rail station users in order to increase the usage of public transportation. Important factors influencing transfer decisions include exterior walking distance, interior walking distance, steps, and escalators. However, their comparative impedances are different. This study constructed a model for calculating transfer impedance based on bodily sensational transfer time in KTX and rail stations and calculated transfer impedance on major KTX and rail stations in Korea. The study results show that the addition of one escalator decreases travel time by one to three minutes. The calculated transfer impedance based on bodily sensational transfer time in this study can be utilized as objective criteria to compare transfer conditions of different KTX and rail stations and to prioritize them for facility improvement. The calculated transfer impedance also can be used as facility guidelines for designing a new transit center.

An Analysis of Elements in Yen-Ben Street That Form a Sense of Place as an Ethnic Enclave (소수민족집단체류지역(Ethnic Enclave)으로서의 옌볜거리의 장소성 형성 요인 분석)

  • This study seeks those elements that form a sense of place in Yen-Ben Street, which represents a typical ethnic enclave in Seoul, to provide a basic resource in the creation of an urban landscape that can provide a positive space for cultural diversity. The results of the study can be summarized as follows: First, the element of a physical environment that develops a sense of place was in fact the poor dwellings that correspond to the economic condition of Korean Chinese. While this element has a negative cognition to outsiders, Korean Chinese feel positively toward it. Secondly, signboards were a physical element of sense of place which retains cultural identity as a means of communication inside the community. Thirdly, it was found that activities such as shopping, recreation, and the exchange of information that are found in the pursuit of daily life act as an essential element in the formation of a sense of place even more than architectural elements. Fourthly, the appropriation of space by Korean Chinese and the isolation from the surroundings were obvious. This isolation is perceived as a negative sense of place formation to outsiders in Yen-Ben Street. Fifthly, the aspects of cultural dualism, mingling the concepts of home country, language, writing, and food have also affected the formation of a sense of place in the area. Sixthly, transience was a prominent phenomenon of Yen-Ben Street and is strengthened by illegal immigration. Although transience causes negative impacts such as in a lack of concern for the residential environment, it acts as a positive factor in the sense of place by mitigating uneasiness, and strengthening insider ties and cooperation.

Physical and Chemical Characteristics of Waste Automotive Catalysts (자동차 폐촉매의 물리 화학적 특성)

  • The physico-chemical characteristics and the combustion activities of a waste automotive catalyst were carried out in this study. The physico-chemical characteristics of waste automotive catalyst was examined by EA(Elemental analysis), ICP-AES (Inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrophotometer), and XRD(X-ray diffraction) analysis. Carbon deposit amount was higher in front brick than rear brick of catalyst, and increased with mileage. The content of Pt. Pd and Rh in waste automotive catalyst was different from the car manufacturing company. The combustion activities of waste automotive catalyst were investigated for acetaldehyde as a model VOC in a fixed bed reactor at atmospheric pressure. The catalytic activity of rear brick for acetaldehyde combustion was better than front brick of waste automotive catalyst. The catalytic activity of waste automotive catalyst for acetaldehyde combustion decreased with mileage. The linear relationship between catalytic activity and mileage was negative and has a very excellent correlation. Finally, the waste automotive catalyst has a good catalytic activity for acetaldehyde combustion. and can be used to control of small emission source.

  • The Land Suitability Assessment(LSA) that was introduced to prevent the unplanned development was viewed from it has applied the same assessment factor on inland and island that has a many different spatial and physical properties, it have many problems. To study the efficient LSA in island that has an totally different spatial, local properties, assessment unit(AU) which the zone of life was considered and on this based, assessment factor was developed. In the AU, middle sized life zone was the best AU to present the regional land properties. In the distance analysis, distance analysis that considered sea was suggested and use it, we ran present the assessment method that was considered the access between islands.

능동소음제어-제어음장의 물리적 성질 및 제어방법론

  • 이 글에서는 능동소음제어에 있어서, 음장 혹은 음원을 표현하는 물리량은 음향에너지, 파워, 인텐시티를 통하여 제어 가격함수로서의 각 의미를 살펴보았다. 졍리하면 이 세가지 물량들은 음향에너지의 균형이라는 물리적 변칙에 의해 서로 단단히 결속되어 있으며, 이들은 음장의 형태와 성격 그리고 파장과 주파수 등과 관련이 있으므로, 능동소음제어 입장에서 제어 목적에 맞게 적절히 사용할 필요가 있다고 볼 수 있다. 음향 에너지의 제어 개념 즉, 음향에너지를 가격함수로 하는 제어 방법은, 원하는 정숙공간(zone of quiet)을 제어할 때 그 적절성이 있음을 보았 으며, 음향 파워는 그 물리량 자체가 어떤 음원의 특성을 표현하고 있으므로 제어에 의하여 방사 효율을 감소(weak radiator)시키고자 할 때 가장 자연스러운 가격 함수 가 됨을 살펴보았다. 또한 음향 인텐시티라는 물리량은 음향 에너지의 전달 특성을 대표하는 특성임을 살펴보았고, 따라서 소음 전파의 감소(noise transmission reduction)를 위한 제어 가격 함수로의 당위성을 확인하였다. 이러한 모든 제어 방법 들이 사실은 가관측성 및 가제어성을 가져야 함은 주지의 사실이며, 음향 파워나 인텐시티를 가격 함수로 하는 제어 방법의 경우 실제적인 가관측성상의 문제점들로 인하여 그 현실성이 아직은 거리가 있다 하겠다.

Physical Properties of Altari-Radish (알타리무의 물리적 특성)

  • 경남 진주시 일대에서 2001년 9월에서 12월 사이에 수확한 알타리무의 기하학적 및 물리적 특성을 측정한 결과를 요약하면 아래와 같다. 가. 동일한 지역에서 생산된 알타리무에서도 외형 및 물리적 특성의 차가 크게 나타났다. 특히 수확방법에 따라 알타리무의 외형에 손상이 생기는 것으로 나타났다. 나. 알타리무의 외형에 있어서 몸통부의 최대길이는 127.0mm, 최대직경은 59.8mm, 무청의 최대 길이는 195.0mm이다. 또한, 무청의 접합부와 몸통부의 중심부의 직경이 거의 비슷하므로 외형은 정확한 표주박형이 아닌 걸로 나타났다. 다. 몸통부에 대한 최대 압축력은 D2에서 6.50kgf로 나타났으나 평균적으로 D3에서 가장 큰 압축력을 나타내었다. 라. 알타리무의 몸통부와 무청의 접합부에 대한 최대절단력은 5.84kgf로 나타났고, 절단거리에 대한 절단력의 상관 관계는 거의 일정함을 보였다.
