The purpose of this paper is to analyze the competitiveness of the logistics industry of three countries - Korea, China and Japan - by looking into their logistics industry structure and the related regulations. For this aim, the paper examined the modal distribution of transportation, transport infrastructure, freight cost structure and regulation in transport sector in these countries. Furthermore, this study suggests some proposals for the further cooperation to bring sustainable progress in the logistics sector across Northeast Asia. The main suggestions of this paper are as follows: First, Korean government needs to strategize its options in the logistics industry, the most competitive in the country’s service sector, in upcoming FTA negotiations with China and Japan. Second, Korea needs to foster Busan into a strategic point for the Rail Ferry System and Road Feeder System. Third, Korea should participate in establishing shuttle flight service in Northeast Asia amid exploding flight demand from active economic interchange and tourism industry development.

A voluminous research on efficiency employs the DEA(Data Envelope Analysis) models. There are, however, only very few that have an interest in the factors influencing such efficiencies. We, furthermore, do not see any studies which analyze the long-term efficiency of the logistics providers using the panel cointegration techniques. The purpose of this paper, hence, is to evaluate the efficiency, analyse its determinants and show a long-term relationship between turnover and the other variables employing the SBM(Slack Based Measure) model, Tobit model, the panel procedure and the FMOLS(Fully Modified OLS). The panel data are composed of 9 individuals and 6 years. The panel cointegrating vectors show that the group coefficient of asset and employees is not only significant but has expected signs, while some of the individual coefficients are insignificant or/and exhibit wrong signs. The panel cointegrating vectors from fully modified OLS also indicate that the estimated coefficients of the panel analysis tend to be overvalued and the asset influences the turnover far greater than the employee does.

Today, researches on logistics service quality or supply chain management are highlighted due to intensification of competition and diversification of needs for customer service. This study have done a comparative analysis on supply chain partnership members' perception difference about importance of logistics service quality factors. It measured perception about logistics service quality which suppliers, carriers, and buyers regard as important and then conducted t-test in order to compare perception difference. It was found that quality factors of logistic service which suppliers, carriers, and buyers in supply chain partnership perceive as important were different. And disagreements among members were found in most items when market orientation and long term orientation was low while there was no difference among most members when market orientation and long term orientation was high.

The rapid growth of e-commerce market and changes in distribution channels and consumption patterns have brought about the continuous growth of the domestic parcel service market. To cope with the growth and environmental changes of the parcel service market, parcel companies have made efforts to improve logistics process and construct an information system for customer satisfaction. Since they have focused on a high quality parcel service through a variety of information technology rather than price competition, the importance of logistics information technology has been greatly perceived. Accordingly, this study examined that how information technology and information system quality of parcel companies was perceived by customers and how it influenced parcel service use and satisfaction. To achieve this purpose, this study developed a valid and reliable measurement instrument for logistics information system quality and customer satisfaction based on literature reviews. Then empirical research was made through a questionnaire survey. As a result, six determinants of logistics information system quality were derived: economy, SMS information, tracking web-site information, stability, speed, and accuracy. All factors but economy were found to have positive effects on customer satisfaction in parcel service. Finally, the theoretical and practical implications of the findings were also discussed.

Amid the rapidly changing logistics environment and demand changes in the post-corona-19 era, the importance of the cold chain logistics sector is being highlighted. The scope of cold chain is not limited to food, but is expanding to various fields such as pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, and flowers. The demand on the storage and transportation of corona vaccines is rapidly increasing. The rapid increase in domestic low-temperature facility construction and renovation may lead to the saturation of the cold chain related industry in the future and slow growth. In preparation for this, it is necessary to accumulate infrastructure know-how using IT technologies, and to consider entering into the UN procurement market as a potential niche market, by taking advantage of Korea's recent global status. The demand for cold chain in the UN procurement market is increasing mainly in underdeveloped countries, and it is expected to continue to grow. In this paper, the capabilities of domestic cold chain related companies were analyzed, domestic and overseas cold chain logistics market trends and overseas market entry status were investigated. An in-depth survey was conducted to present strategies for domestic cold chain logistics related companies to enter the UN procurement market.

Mega-corporations are emerging as a result of M&As (mergers and acquisitions) in the logistics industry. The global logistics market has progressed in a continuously competitive manner. Global logistics corporations provide integrated set of services, from production to disposal in order to manage the process efficiently throughout the diverse regions of the world. To advance into an total integrated logistics provider, the corporation must have professional knowledge in logistics and information technology which are necessary to deliver effective integrated logistics solutions. The government has integrated the logistics corporations both horizontally and vertically with the aim to foster logistics corporations possessing global competitiveness. Six years have passed since the implementation of the comprehensive (total) logistics industry certification system in pursuit of making Korea the hub for the Northeast Asian logistics market. This study compares and analyzes the efficiency of nine mega integrated logistics providers by applying the CCR model and BCC model. Each of the nine corporations is subject to certification as integrated logistics corporations. In Korea, nine corporations are certified individually as integrated logistics corporations out of the 31 logistics providers. The analysis showed that the Glovis was the most efficient integrated logistics provider reaching 100% in efficiency and displayed the highest efficiency for six consecutive years from 2005 to 2010. The study also found that the Glovis will be able to maintain 100% in efficiency rate, even though the input are increased over six times as many as those of 2010.
