  • This study is a qualitative case study that examines how an experience of working in the library changes the perception on the career among the college students majoring library and information science. Nineteen students working as library supporters at Library B located in Gyeonggi-do Province, Korea were chosen as the research subject. An in-depth interview was individually conducted to observe the subject's career goal, career choice, experience as a library supporter, perception on the supporter program, and change of thoughts on career after participating in the supporters program. In the study result, the students perceived that the library supporter was a very meaningful activity that lets them learn about the actual librarian work and prepares them for future job as a librarian. Also, the supporting activity provides the students with a good opportunity to check in advance whether the librarian work fits them when they choose the future career.

  • Most fields of society have constructed and utilized various name identifier systems such and International Standard Name Identifier(ISNI), Open Researcher and Contributor ID(ORCID), and Interested Parties Information System(IPI) in order to uniquely identify individual authors and institutions and to associate them to data related to creative works. Although it might be inevitable to apply name identifier systems in the current data environment with rapid association and integration of data across fields, there are many problems to be addressed when utilizing those systems. In order to overcome these problems and construct better information ecological system by associating and linking data from various fields, this research analyzed advanced cases for data integration based on ISNI. Through the analysis, it suggested managemental refinements for efficiently utilizing ISNI in data integration and association.

  • University libraries are involved in college education and college education is also involved in university libraries. To the knowledge information society increases the competitive power of the university and the academic library which national competitive power strengthens further must be operated developmentally. Professors and students to support research and learning activities appropriate facilities and systems must be equipped with features and the role of university libraries will be fulfilled properly. In this study, we analyze changes in the configuration space, and accordingly remodel before and after the user satisfaction survey of spatial configuration on the users' satisfaction and the results are to analyze based on C University Library. As a result of this study, the library space was utilized to determine the importance of purpose in the future, these results increase the quality of library service or library user satisfaction survey. Study will be a good reference for researchers.

  • This study aimed to propose considerations for attributes and their standardization strategies during the data collection process for electronic publications by domestic distributors for the National Library of Korea. The research identified a total of 21 essential and optional attributes based on a survey and a Focused Group Interview (FGI) with the staff responsible for legal deposit and acquisition tasks at the National Library of Korea. Additional attributes were found necessary during the data quality verification process, leading to the specification of essential and optional attributes for various types of materials, including eBooks, audiobooks, webtoons, and web novels. The standardization of attribute values, essential for enhancing the identifiability and management efficiency of electronic publications, included adherence to ISO 8601 rules for dates and times, clear designation of limited-range attribute values such as file format and adult content, and detailed description of information related to titles. Furthermore, the study highlighted the need for establishing standardized metadata requirements and continuous data quality management and monitoring systems.

  • In foreign countries, ISNI-based creative work identification and linkage services have been established and operated in various fields, while in Korea, ISNI utilization and linkage services limited to some fields are operated mainly by the National Library of Korea. The purpose of this study is to propose an ISNI-based linkage and utilization service that can be applied in Korea. To achieve the purpose of this study, we examined overseas ISNI linkage cases and identified the requirements of related organizations. We also proposed four ways to build ISNI sharing and convergence services. These include establishing Identifiers Co-operation Initiatives (ICI), establishing creator profiles, activating ISNI through the publishing industry, and activating ISNI services through external linkages. We hope that this study will serve as a basis for building ISNI-based linkage and utilization services.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate and analyze the feasibility of relocating and building the Wando-gun Library into a multicultural library. For this purpose, the results of policy and economic feasibility, including locational feasibility, related laws, high and related plans, and surveys were examined. As a result of the analysis, it was found that policy feasibility was secured and economic feasibility was insufficient, but it is judged that some of it was secured because the ripple effect was calculated by the occurrence of social benefits. The results of this study can be useful data to prepare for a project to promote the construction of a library as a multicultural space.

  • This study aims at analyzing research trends of library management and suggesting future tasks of this area in Korea. This is a study following the previous study which was done in 2014. For this purpose, this study analyzed 323 papers of library management area among the library and information science papers which have been published from 2014 to 2020 at the four academic journals of the National Research Foundation of Korea. As a result, it was found that 46 papers in library management had been produced annually. The amount of papers in library management has increased, compared to 36 papers annually published which were checked at the previous study. The analysis on the research trends of sub-fields of library management showed that high research performance has been done at the sub-fields like 'general management', 'human resource management', 'measurement and evaluation'. However, there has still been less performance in the sub-fields like 'marketing', 'organization management', 'budget management', which was also shown at the previous study.

  • In this study, we analyzed the performance of the BERT-based document classification model by automatically classifying documents in the field of library and information science based on the KoBERT. For this purpose, abstract data of 5,357 papers in 7 journals in the field of library and information science were analyzed and evaluated for any difference in the performance of automatic classification according to the size of the learned data. As performance evaluation scales, precision, recall, and F scale were used. As a result of the evaluation, subject areas with large amounts of data and high quality showed a high level of performance with an F scale of 90% or more. On the other hand, if the data quality was low, the similarity with other subject areas was high, and there were few features that were clearly distinguished thematically, a meaningful high-level performance evaluation could not be derived. This study is expected to be used as basic data to suggest the possibility of using a pre-trained learning model to automatically classify the academic documents.

  • This study presents book curation services as one of the ways to establish the social role and status of public libraries in a changing social environment. It aims to identify the quality factors that influence user satisfaction and the intention to continue using public library book curation services. For this purpose, the quality factors were limited to information quality through a literature review on curation services in libraries and various fields, from which specific factors were extracted. A questionnaire survey and statistical analysis were then conducted among public library users. The results showed that among the information quality factors, variety and interestingness affect user satisfaction, while discoverability and usefulness impact both user satisfaction and the intention to continue using the services. Based on these findings, we suggest that public libraries should offer book curation services that allow users to discover new information and select themes that are engaging and interesting, and provide information about various genres and types of books.

  • In this paper, we propose optimal methodologies for classifying patent literature by examining various feature extraction methods, machine learning and deep learning models, and provide optimal performance through experiments. We compared the traditional BoW method and a distributed representation method (word embedding vector) as a feature extraction, and compared the morphological analysis and multi gram as the method of constructing the document collection. In addition, classification performance was verified using traditional machine learning model and deep learning model. Experimental results show that the best performance is achieved when we apply the deep learning model with distributed representation and morphological analysis based feature extraction. In Section, Class and Subclass classification experiments, We improved the performance by 5.71%, 18.84% and 21.53%, respectively, compared with traditional classification methods.
