Social Representations on Children, Adults and Adolescents: With Focus on Personality, Relationships and Tasks (아동과 어른 그리고 청소년에 대한 사회적 표상: 성격적, 관계적 및 과업적 특성을 중심으로)

  • Using open-ended questionnaires, two studies were conducted to explore social representations held by Korean undergraduates on children, adults and adolescents. Study 1 compared between children and adults with responses reported by 97 undergraduates(men: 28, women: 69). According to the results, characteristics of children distinctive from adults were basically personality-related and in particular, typical children were marked by high extroversion, low agreeableness, conscientiousness and culture. Further, happiness for both children and adults was determined mainly by interpersonal relationships, physical health and socio-economical status. However, good(or desirable) children characteristic of high agreeableness and conscientiousness were more similar to adults worthy of the name than to children worthy of the name. Using 57 undergraduates(men: 16, women: 41), Study 2 explored social representations of adolescents. The results indicated that overall adolescence were on the bridging state between childhood and adulthood. Happiness for adolescents, like both children and adults, was determined mainly by interpersonal relationships and socio-economical status. Finally, agreeableness, conscientiousness, self-, task- and relationship-related characteristics were involved in judging good(or desirable) adolescents. These findings were discussed in terms of features of Korean culture and human development.

Korean adolescents' indigenous understanding of safety: With specific focus on cognitive representation of accidents, safety efficacy and parental influence (한국 청소년의 안전에 대한 토착심리 분석: 안전사고에 대한 표상과 안전효능감 및 부모의 영향을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this paper is to explore Korean adolescents' understanding of safety using the indigenous psychologies approach. This paper examines Korean adolescents' experience of the type of accidents they were involved in, what they perceived to be the cause of the accident, the type of social support received after the accident, and the prevention needed to avoid future accidents. The indigenous understanding of accidents is examined according to the grade level of the students, gender, and safety efficacy beliefs. Second, to examine the changes in the safety efficacy beliefs, the differences across primary, junior high, and senior high school students are examined. Third, the relationship between safety efficacy belief and attitudes toward preventing future accidents is explored. Third, the parental influence on adolescents' safety efficacy belief is examined by analyzing the influence of their socio-economic status and their safety efficacy belief on their children's safety efficacy belief and behavior. The review of the results can be summarized into the following five main points: (1) decrease in safety efficacy belief with increasing age, (2) positive relationship between safety efficacy belief and behavior, (3) the utility of the indigenous psychologies approach, (4) the parental influence on their children's safety efficacy beliefs and behavior, and (5) the need to further explore, promote, and educate the importance of human life and quality of life by preventing accidents and promoting safety consciousness and behavior in Korea.

Cognitive Approach for Building Intelligent Agent (지능 에이전트 구현의 인지적 접근)

  • The reason that an intelligent agent cannot understand the representation of its own perception or activity is caused by the traditional syntactic approach that translates a semantic feature into a simulated string, To implement an autonomously learning intelligent agent, Cohen introduces a experimentally semantic approach that the system learns a contentful representation of physical schema from physically interacting with environment using its own sensors and effectors. We propose that negation is a meta-level schema that enables an agent to recognize its own physical schema, To improve the planner's efficiency, Graphplan introduces the control rule that manipulates the inconsistency between planning operators, but it cannot cognitively understand negation and suffers from redundancy problem. By introducing a negative function not, IPP solves the problem, but its approach is still syntactic and is inefficient in terms of time and space. In this paper, we propose that, to represent a negative fact, a positive atom, which is called opposite concept, is a very efficient technique for implementing an cognitive agent, and demonstrate some empirical results supporting the hypothesis.

The Implicit Representation of the May 18 Gwangju Democratic Movement (광주·전남 출신 대학생이 5·18민주화운동에 대해 지니는 암묵적 표상)

  • This study verified whether university students of Gwangju and Jeollanam-do recall negative information like violence and death faster than positive information like democratic community about the May 18 Gwangju democratic movement in implicit dimension. University students of Gwangju responded faster when the May 18 combined with the pictures of negative content. However, university students of Jeollanam-do responded marginally faster when the May 18 combined with the pictures of positive content. In addition, the students performed implicit evaluation test towards the May 18. The students of Gwangju showed a slightly negative attitude towards the May 18, while the students of Jeollanam-do showed a positive attitude towards the May 18. This study acquires significance because it confirmed that university students of Gwangju have an implicit representation similar to trauma and a terrible feeling about the May 18.

  • 정보도 자산이라는 인식은 어느정도 자리를 잡아가고 있는 듯하다. 그러나 어떤 정보가 얼만큼의 가치가 있고 그것이 기업에 있어 수치적으로 계산될 수 있는 가하는 문제는 아직 의견이 분분하다. 분명한 것은 기업에 있어 정보는 분명 자산으로서의 가치를 가지고 있다는 것인데, 일부의 경우 대차대조표상에 기재가 필요하다는 주장을 펼치기도 한다.

The neural mechanism of distributed and focused attention and their relation to statistical representation of visual displays (분산주의와 초점주의의 신경기제 및 시각 통계표상과의 관계)

  • Many objects are always present in a visual scene. Since the visual system has limited capacity to process multiple stimuli at a time, how to cope with this informational overload is one of the important problems to solve in visual perception. This study investigated the suppressive interactions among multiple stimuli when attention was directed to either one of the stimuli or all of them. The results indicate that suppressive interactions among multiple circles were reduced in V4 when subjects paid attention to one of the four locations, as compared to the unattended condition. However, suppressive interactions were not reduced when they paid attention to all four items as a set, in order to compute their mean size. These results suggest that whereas focused attention serves to later out irrelevant information, distributed attention provides an average representation of multiple stimuli.

Two Perspectives in Developing a Visualization Environment (시각화 환경의 개발에 대한 두 관점)

  • 컴퓨터의 급속한 보급으로 시각화는 수학 교육자사이의 논의에 자주 등장하는 소재가 되었다. 우리는 다양한 소프트웨어를 사용하여 준비한 수업에 학생들로 임하게는 하지만 거의 그들의 사고 발달과정에는 관심을 갖지 못하고 있다. 이 논문은 구성주의(Constructivism)와 정보처리체계(Information-Processing System)에 입각하여 수학의 시각화를 생각해보고 어떻게 시각화 환경을 준비해야하는지 논해보고자 하였다. 구성주의의 시각화에서는 반영적 추상(reflective abstraction), 반복되는 경험(repeated experience), 그리고 지식 위계성이 학습의 기능 체계를 이루므로 발견적 학습을 통해 학생 스스로 의미를 구성할 수 있도록 Thomas (1992)의 세 가지 제안을 이용하여 수업을 준비할 수 있다. 정보처리체계에서는 지식은 서술적인 것과 과정적인 것으로 나뉘어지고, 시각적 표상을 수록하고 삭제하는 과정과 조작 가능한(manipulative) 환경과의 상호작용으로 기호적 시각으로 표상을 변화하는 과정을 통해 개념을 습득하게된다. 시각화는 스키마와 개념상을 통해서 일어난다. 그래프, 애니메이션, 그리고 다른 시각적 표상 등은 이 개념상에 직접적 효과를 주므로 매우 중요하다. 이런 논란을 바탕으로 교사는 반영적 추상화를 위해 시간을 충분히 제공해야하고, 비슷한 문제를 가지고 여러번 시도를 할 수 있게 하며, 학생을 잘 관찰하여 그들의 지식 위계성을 이해하고 방향을 제시하며, 논리적이고 잘 연결된 시각적 표상을 제공하고, 상징적 사관으로 확장할 수 있게 조작할 수 있는 환경에서 시각화에 대해 학생과 많은 대화를 하도록 수업을 준비해야한다. 그한 예로 타원을 가르치기 위해 몇 가지 테크놀로지를 활용한 시각화 환경을 구성해보았다.ates of bisected bovine embryos by micromanipulator and micropipett were 29.2% and 19.1%, respectively. Comparative Study in Algebra Education with CAS: Korea and US cases (컴퓨터 대수체계(CAS) 대비 중등대수교육 기초 연구)

  • This study was designed to gain insight to adopt CAS into secondary level algebra education in Korea. Most inactive usage of calculators in math and most negative effects of calculators on their achievements of Korean students were shown in International studies such as TIMSS-R. A comparative study was carried out with consideration of mathematical backgrounds and technological environments. 8 Korean students and 26 US students in Grade 11 were participated in this study. Subjects' Problem solving process and their strategies of CAS usage in classical Box-problem with CAS were analyzed. CAS helped modeling by providing symbolic manipulation commands and graphs with students' mathematical knowledge. 주관주의 확률 이론

  • 확률에 관한 수학적 탐구가 시작된 18세기이래 다양한 확률에 관안 이론들이 등장하기 시작했다. 이렇게 다양한 확률 이론 중에서 가장 뒤늦게 제안되어 발전되어 온 주관주의 확률 이론을 소개하고 그 이론에 대한 평가를 시도하는 것이 이 논문의 목적이다. 주관주의 확률 이론은 램지에 의해서 제안되고 드 피네티와 새비지 등에 의해서 발전되어 왔는데, 그 이론의 핵심은 확률을 주관적인 믿음의 정도(degree of belief)로 파악하는 것이다. 이 이론은 다른 여러 가지 이론과 비교하여 많은 장점을 가짐에도 불구하고 몇 가지 문제점을 갖는다. 그 중에서도 기장 큰 문제점은 어떤 사건에 대한 객관적인 확률을 부정하는 것이다. 따라서 주관주의 이론에 대한 적절한 평가는 바로 이러한 문제점에 대해서 어떠한 대답이 주어질 수 있는가에 달려 있다고 할 수 있을 것이다. 드 피네티의 교환 기능한 확률(exchangeable probability)이리는 개념과 그와 관련된 표상정리(representation theorem)는 부분적으로 이러한 문제에 답하는 것처럼 보인다. 그러므로 필자는 이 논문에서 이러한 주관주의 확률 이론의 내용을 살펴보고 그에 대한 평가를 함으로써 주관주의 확률 이론이 갖는 의의를 논할 것이다.
