  • Many cities and provinces are rapidly depleting landfill spaces. As the result, some municities have adopted to incinerate their municipal solid waste(MSW). The motive behind the choice is that incineration significantly reduces the volume of solid waste in need of disposal, destroys the harmful organic compounds that are present in MSW, and provides an attractive source of alternative energy. Conclusively, the generation of MSW ash is expected to increse in the furture. However, disposing the MSW ash in landfills may not always be an environmentally or an economically feasible solution. This paper addresses the various issues associated with MSW ash and its possible use in construction applications.

  • 최근 지능형 지속 위협(APT)은 명확한 공격 대상과 정교한 프로그램을 사용하여 치밀하게 공격하는 사회공학적 공격 기법을 사용함으로 상업용 탐지기술의 지속적인 발전과 개발에도 빠르게 증가되고 있다. 기존의 탐지 기법은 알려진 악성코드에 대하여는 효과적으로 대응 가능하나 아무런 정보가 없는 제로데이 공격 등의 악성코드는 탐지하기 어렵다. 특히 최근의 악성코드들은 빠르게 변종을 만들어냄으로 기존의 탐지 기법으로는 한계가 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 악성코드에 대한 경로 및 유형, 공격 방법 등을 분석하고 이를 탐지하고 분석하는 선행 기술들 조사하여 DAST 기반의 콘텐츠재구성을 통한 무해화 기술을 제안하였다.

  • 오늘날 자동차배기의 대기오염공해는 큰 사회문제가 되었으며 선진제국은 이미 오래전부터 배 기정화를 시작하여 상당한 성과를 거두고 있으나 우리나라는 지금이 시작이 아닌가 생각된다. 배기정화는 자동차관계자가 해결해야 할 가장 큰 과제의 하나일 것이다. 자동차의 원동기로서 피스톤식 내연기관을 사용하는 한 최종적으로는 어떠하든 간에 배기처리를 할 필요가 있다. 따 라서 배기처리방법의 성공의 여부는 자동차용 내연기관의 운명이 걸려있다고도 할 수 있다. 이 러한 시점에 있어서 다른 사람 등이 해온 배기처리방법을 고찰해 보는 것도 결코 무의미한 것이 아니라 생각되기에 저자는 약 10년전에 발족한 일본자동차연구소 (JARI : JAPAN AUTOMOBILE RESEARCH INSTITUTE) 에서 시험제작을 하여 중점적으로 배기정화의 연 구를 해온 배기의 완전무해화장치 (JAPECS;JARI Perfect Emission Control System)를 소개하고 이것에 대한 고찰을 하고자 한다. JAPECS의 시험제작연구의 목적은 단지 자동차배기의 완전 무해화장치의 시험제작에 있는 것이 아니고 이 연구를 추진함으로써 1) 내연기관의 배기정화의 궁극적인 가능성을 추구할 수 있는 것과 2) 각 단계의 배기규제에 대처할 수 있는 가장 효과적이고 실용적인 배기처리장치의 개발을 위한 기술적인 검토가 될 수 있는 것으로 되어있다. 이 JAPECS project에서는 현재 사용되고 있는 모든 종류의 자동차엔진의 배기정화를 목표로 하고 있고 최초의 2년은 기초적인 검토에 중점을 두고 그후는 실용화에 중점을 두고 있다.

Detoxification of PCBs Containing Transformer Oil by Catalytic Hydrodechlorination in Supercritical Fluids (초임계유체 내 수첨탈염소반응에 의한 PCBs가 함유된 절연유의 무해화 연구)

  • Catalytic hydrodechlorination of PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls) included in the transformer oil was carried out to detoxify PCBs and to recycle the treated oil. Catalysts such as 0.98 wt% Pt and 0.79 wt% Pd on ${\gamma}$-alumina (${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$) support, 12.8 wt% Ni on ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$, and 57.6 wt% Ni on silica-alumina ($SiO_2-Al_2O_3$) support were used for the catalytic hydrodechlorination. Various supercritical fluids such as carbon dioxide, propane and isobutane were used as reaction media. The effects of reaction temperature, reaction time, catalysts, and supercritical fluids on the catalytic hydrodechlorination were examined in detail. The detoxification degree increased in the order of Ni > Pd > Pt. This is possibly due to higher metal loading and larger metal size of the Ni catalyst. Below $175^{\circ}C,\;scCO_2$ was found as the most effective reaction media for the catalytic hydrodechlorination of PCBs included in the transformer oil.

  • Polychlorinated biphenyls, (PCBs) are a group of highly toxic chlorinated industrial chemicals used as dielectrics, coolants and lubricants in electrical transformers. This article reviewed the state-of-the-art on technologies for decomposition of Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), one of the persistent organic materials (POPs). The purpose of this study was to evaluate the feasibility of decontaminating PCBs contaminated pollutants using treatment technologies such as chemical dechlorination, photodegradation and biological transformation.

Improving the Reactivity and Harmlessness of Recalcitrant Contaminants by Reduction-oxidation-linked Process (환원-산화 연계처리를 통한 니트로벤젠의 반응성 향상 및 무해화 연구)

  • In this study, the applicability of reduction-oxidation-linked treatment was evaluated for nitrobenzene and a by-product by analyzing the reaction kinetics. Nitrobenzene showed very low reactivity to persulfate that was activated using various methods. Nitrobenzene effectively reacted through the reduction process using Zero-Valent Iron (ZVI). However, aniline, a toxic substance, was produced as a by-product. Reduction-oxidation-linked treatment is a method that can allow the oxidative degradation of aniline after reducing nitrobenzene to aniline. The experimental results show improved reactivity and complete decomposition of the by-product. Improved reactivity and decomposition of the by-product were observed even under conditions in which the reduction-oxidation reaction was induced simultaneously. No activator was injected for persulfate activation in the process of reducing oxidant linkage, and the activation reaction was induced by ferrous iron eluted from the ZVI. This indicates that this method can be implemented relatively simply.

  • SF6 is used as an insulating gas because of its excellent electrical insulation properties, non-toxicity, and non-inflammability. On the other hand, the global warming potential of SF6 is 23,900 times higher than that of CO2. The Korea electric power cooperation (KEPCO) is responsible for 80% of the domestic SF6 usage, and approximately 6,000 tons are currently charged in electrical and power facilities. KEPCO will gradually replace the insulating gas with SF6-free gas from 2023. SF6 decomposition facilities are required because more than 60 tons of SF6 will need to be disposed of annually from existing equipment. This study developed a novel decomposition and pollution control system that can process 60 tons of SF6 per year. This facility can decompose more than 97.7% of SF6, with the emissions of hazardous and toxic materials below the legal limit.

  • In this study, the harmless crack size(ahml) according to the residual stress depth was evaluated using the fatigue limit of SCM440 steel by quenching-tempering(QT) and induction hardening(IH), and threshold stress intensity factor of QT steel. Because the residual stress increased rapidly as the crack depth increased, ahml was determined at the depth of all the crack aspect ratio(As) regardless of Type I-III, and ahml also increased according to the residual stress depth. ahml was minimal at As=1.0 and maximal at As=0.1, but was almost similar on each Type. ahml was small the dependence on As.
