The RNA content of fertilized egg of Bombyx mori was shown a continuing great increase reaching peak at the 5th day after egg laying and a slight decrease there after. Such a change of RNA content is considered to be directly associated with the formation and development of egg embryo of silk worm. (2) The RNA content of nonfertilized egg is much less than that of fertilized one at first day of egg laying and it increased slightly until 4 th day after egg laying then decreased. (3) The RNA content of fertilized egg irradiated by gamma-ray (3,000 r) was shown a slight increase until 2nd day after irradiation, but no change was observed there after. This fact shows that irradiation suppressed the biosynthesis of RNA silk worm egg. (4) The RNA content of HCl treated silk worm egg was shown a continuing steep rise until 7 th day after the acid treat, while no change was observed in the non-treated egg. The RNA content of HCl treated egg with irradiation of gamma-ray (1,500 r), decreased until 3 rd day after irradiation in contrast to that of non-irradiated group, but it increased rapidly from 4 th day until 7 th day after acid treating.

Alternative marine power (AMP) is continuously used in ports and on docks because of regulations on global ship emission reduction. In Korea, the use of AMP is also mandatory under the Special Act on Port Air Quality Improvement, and efforts are under way in connection with various eco-friendly ships, such as electric-propulsion ships. In this study, AC load flow analysis was performed by modeling the situation in which onboard power is supplied through AMP. This analysis made it possible to study the electrical parameters and losses when power was supplied to the ship. In addition, through a transient stability analysis, the high-speed generation transfer limit value for uninterruptible conversion through onboard generators in the event of a system accident was derived. Amyloidosis has been reported to be associated with non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Amyloidosis and lymphoma can be related in two ways: lymphoma-associated systemic amyloidosis and peritumoral amyloidosis with lymphoma. We report a rare case of peritumoral amyloidosis in a patient with head and neck mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma. On CT, the oropharyngeal mass showed an irregularly shaped soft-tissue density with multifocal amorphous calcifications and heterogeneous enhancement. On MRI, the mass showed heterogeneous low signal intensity on both T1- and T2-weighted images. On contrast-enhanced MR images, the mass showed good enhancement with several inner non-enhancing foci. Concurrent pathologies, such as peritumoral amyloidosis, should be considered when calcifications are noted in patients with pre-treatment lymphoma.

폐색성 혹은 비폐색성 무정자증에서 부정소 정자채취법 등이 부적절하다고 여겨질때는 정소 조직을 일부 절제하여 그 조직으로부터 정자를 직접 채취하게 되는데 일반적으로 이렇게 정소로부터 추출한 정소정자는 운동성이 전혀 없거나 매우 약한 운동성을 보이는 경우가 많다. 본 연구의 목적은 이러한 정소정자를 Vero cell과 공배양을 시킴으로써 운동성을 획득시키거나 향상시키고 이를 수정시키는 시기까지 지속시킴으로써 정소정자추출술 (TESE)을 시행하는 환자나 의료진들에게 보다 편안하고 융통성있는 시간대를 부여하고, 아울러 정자직접주입술 (ICSI)을 보다 용이하게 하여 성공적인 수정률과 임신율을 얻음에 있다. 또한 ICSI를 시행한 후, 운동성이 향상된 잉여의 정소정자를 냉동보존함으로써 차후에 TESE을 다시 시행치않고도 시험관 아기 시술을 시도할 수 있는 부가적인 잇점도 있다고 할 수 있다. 대상환자군은 정관폐색증(n=11) 혹은 비정관폐색증(n=2)을 보이는 13명의 무정자증의 남성불임환자였으며 난자회수예정일 3일전에 TESE를 시행하여 정소정자를 얻은 후 이를 정자직접주입술이 시행되는 당일까지 Vero cell과 공배양을 실시하였다. Vero cell과의 공배양에 의하여 운동성이 있는 정소정자의 수는 공배양전과 비교하여 평균 3.3배가 증가하였으며, 특히 공배양전에 운동성이 있는 정소정자의 수가 50,000/ml이하의 미약한 운동성만을 보였던 경우 (n=5)에는 공배양 후에 운동성이 있는 정소정자 수의 평균증가율이 7.7배였다. 공배양전 정자운동성이 전혀 없었던 2례의 비정관폐색증환자중 3일간의 공배양을 통하여 1례에서 운동성을 획득한 정소정자를 얻을 수 있었으며 (14,300/ml), 정자직접주입술을 통하여 성공적인 수정 및 임신에 도달할 수 있었다. Vero cell과 공배양을 하고 ICSI했던 결과, 평균 수정률은 75.0% 이었으며 임신율은 61.5%였다.

The objective of this study is to enhance the model's speed of estimating weather variables (e.g., minimum/maximum temperature, sunshine hour, PRISM (Parameter-elevation Regression on Independent Slopes Model) based precipitation), which are applied to the Agrometeorological Early Warning System (http://www.agmet.kr). The current process of weather estimation is operated on high-performance multi-core CPUs that have 8 physical cores and 16 logical threads. Nonetheless, the server is not even dedicated to the handling of a single county, indicating that very high overhead is involved in calculating the 10 counties of the Seomjin River Basin. In order to reduce such overhead, several cache and parallelization techniques were used to measure the performance and to check the applicability. Results are as follows: (1) for simple calculations such as Growing Degree Days accumulation, the time required for Input and Output (I/O) is significantly greater than that for calculation, suggesting the need of a technique which reduces disk I/O bottlenecks; (2) when there are many I/O, it is advantageous to distribute them on several servers. However, each server must have a cache for input data so that it does not compete for the same resource; and (3) GPU-based parallel processing method is most suitable for models such as PRISM with large computation loads.

Regional unconformities have been used as boundaries of major stratigraphic units in Korea. The term "synthem" has already been propsed for formal unconformity-bounded stratigraphic units of maximum magnitude (ISSC, 1974). The unconformity-based classification of the strata in the cratonic area in Korea comprises in ascending order the Kyerim, $Sangw{\check{o}}n$, $Jos{\check{o}}n$, $Py{\check{o}}ngan$, Daedong, and $Ky{\check{o}}ngsang$ Synthems, and the Cenozoic Erathem. The unconformites separating them from each other are either orogenic or epeirogenic (and vertical tectonic). The sub-$Sangw{\check{o}}n$ unconformity is a non-conformity above the basement complex in Korea. The unconformities between the $Sangw{\check{o}}n$, $Jos{\check{o}}n$, and $Py{\check{o}}ngan$ Synthems are disconformities denoting late Precambrian and Paleozoic crustal quiescence in Korea. The unconformities between the $Py{\check{o}}ngan$, Daedong, and $Ky{\check{o}}ngsang$ Synthems are angular unconformities representing Mesozoic orogenies. The bounding unconformities of the $Ky{\check{o}}ngsang$ Synthem involve non-conformable parts overlying the Jurassic and late Cretaceous granitic rocks.
