국내 석탄층메탄가스자원의 잠재성

  • 1990년대에 들어와서 미국을 비롯한 석탄자원 부국들은 석탄층메탄가스자원을 에너지로 이용하는데 성공하였으며 현재 그 생산과 이용규모를 빠르게 확대해 나가고 있다. 우리나라의 경우 약 15억 톤의 무연탄자원이 확인되지만 수요처 상실로 1980년대 후반부터 석탄합리화 과정을 통해 석탄생산량은 2700만 톤/년에서 400만 톤/년 이하로 급감 했으며 가행탄광 수도 350여 개에서 10개로 감소됐다. 이러한 추세로 보면 국내무연탄자원은 사실상 사장 화 될 처지에 놓이게 된 것이다. (중략)

Variation of Pore Structure of Coal-based Activated Carbon with Burn-off of Steam Activation (수증기 활성화법으로 제조된 석탄계 활성탄의 Burn-off에 따른 세공구조의 변화)

  • This study is to investigate changes of pore structure with different burn-off degree of steam activated carbons manufactured from domestic anthracite. The activated carbons were characterized by adsorption of nitrogen at 77 K. Steam activation substantially enhanced the porosity of the activated carbons. Burn-off increased linearly according to increasing activation time, and total pore volume and BET surface area increased with burn-off. Activation at $800^{\circ}C$ increased more micropore volume than that at $950^{\circ}C$. Activated carbons manufactured at high temperature had less microporosity than that at lower temperature, but had more developed macroporosity. The steam activation produced an enlargement of pore below $100{\AA}$ diameter in the activated carbons. Furthermore, the porosity in the $6{\sim}40{\AA}$ pore diameters range increased considerably with the degree of burn-off.

  • 석유에너지의 고갈을 앞두고 석탄에너지의 활용연구가 우리나라에서도 광범위하게 연구되어 왔다. 현재 국내에서 석탄(무연탄과 유연탄)은 발전용으로 대량 사용되고 있으며 이중에서 유연탄은 전량 수입에 의존하고 있다. 지리적으로 중국과 접하고 있는 우리나라의 경우 중국의 석탄 사용은 피할 수 없는 현실이며 지금도 상당량을 중국에서 수입하고 있다. 현재까지 우리나라에서는 비교적 저회분, 저유황분의 석탄만을 중국에서 수입하고 있다. 그러나 중국에서 점차 저유황탄의 생산이 줄어들고 있는 점을 감안할 때 앞으로는 고회분, 고유황탄의 수입이 필연적일 것으로 생각된다. 그러나 이 경우 우리는 SOx발생에 의한 환경오염에 대한 대비책이 있어야 하며 이와 관련하여 석탄전처리(Coal Cleaning)기술은 매우 중요하다.

  • Cyclone 원리를 이용한 Slagging 연소기술은 접선방향으로 고속공급되는 연소용 공기에 의해 석탄입자가 연소실 벽면에 체류하면서 벽면연소가 이루어지며, 3중 선회 유동장의 형성으로 연료의 체재시간이 길며, 고온연소시킴으로서 석탄중의 회분을 연소기내에서 용융제거하는 석탄 직접연소의 신기술이다. 실험용으로 제작된 75 kW급 Slagging 연소기에서 Alaska subbituminous 탄으로 성능실험을 수행한 결과 탄소전환율이 95% 이상이며 회분의 용융제거 효율은 약 70%인 것으로 판명되었으며, 연료의 적용범위를 확대하기 위해 Roto탄, Ulan탄 및 Roto탄에 국내 무연탄인 장성탄을 20% 혼합한 혼합탄에 대한 연소실험과 Alaska탄 입자크기의 영향도 알아보았다. Slagging 연소기의 개발을 위해 소형 연소기 실험결과와 유동장 해석, Cold model test를 거쳐 현재 1MW급 연소기가 설계, 제작되어 실험하는 단계에 있다.

Desulfurization characteristics of low sulfur coal by mild pyrolysis (저온 열분해에 의한 저유황 석탄의 탈황 특성)

  • Mild pyrolysis of four different coals (two bituminous coals and two Korean antracite) was investigated. Desulfurization characteristics, weight loss and variation of heating values were studied. As operating variables of experiment, pyrolysis temperature($350{\sim}550^{\circ}C$), pyrolysis time(5~20 min.) and particle size(0~3.55mm) were examined. The maximum sulfur removal rate of bituminous coal and anthracite were 38% and 28%, respectively. The optimum mild pyrolysis conditions were 10~15 min for pyrolysis time and $450{\sim}550^{\circ}C$ for pyrolysis temperature. The mild pyrolysis was effective to reduce organic sulfur content. Heating values of char per mass after pyrolysis increased about 5% compared to raw coal. The effect of coal particle size on the desulfurization was not observed.

  • KORAIL's Rail freight tonnage approximately 39 million tons in 2010, coal transportation thereof approximately 6.2 million tons, it is about 15.7 percent in the entire railway transportation. In addition, the incomes of rail transport of coal is 51.7 billion won which is about 15.8 percent of total. It is the third largest proportion of tonnage and profit on rail freight items. However, the percentage of rail transport of coal has been decreased by the government policies to reduce the production of anthracite and to supply non-thermal power anthracite preferentially which depends on truck transport. Such reasons effect to transport incomes of stations located in Gangwon province which handle coal transport a lot. Accordingly, this study tries to explicate the fundamental problems and find solution for stations to maintain its incomes.

This study was carried out lo rcmove the stlfur and mineral mancrs in the samplw using wet msg~xiic separatol ant1 oil agglomeration apparatus. The rcsults for the wet magnetic separalion showed that the total sulfur removal from Kangnung coal sample was 60.8% with 82.6% combustible recovery. For the results of oil agglomeration testa, combustible recavety, ash nod sulfur rcmovcl horn Maro coal sample were 98.0, 70.9 and 95.7 percent, respectively.

  • Since widely use of anthracite for the radiating purpose in a rearing room in Korea, the weakness of silkworm, poor uniformity of the worm growth, the increase of missing worm ratio, unusual cocoon assorting ratio, and the decrease of cocoon layer ratio have been realized by the author, therefore, he has started out to search the mechanism of these evil influences regarding with various gas densities and terms of the gas treatment which will be supposed to be a warning for temperature control during the silkworm reading work. Among the anthracite gas components, CO or SO$_2$ influence and their complexed harm effect were investigated through the use of anthracite gas, CO and SO$_2$ gas. Meantime, each treatment was applied, separately, during the worm egg stage, young instar, adult instar and whole instar, because the harm intensity for any improperable rearing condition is flexible by the growing stages. Meantime, the gas density and term variation were applied for the above each treatment such as in case of anthracite and CO gas, the following treat methods were used. 1) 0.06% for 30 mins. 2) 0.06% for 1 hour. 3) 0.1% for 1 hour. 4) 0.15% for 1 hour. on the other hand, SO$_2$ gas was used as 1) 120ppm for 30 mins. 2) 200ppm for 30 mins. 3) 400ppm for 30 mins. The measurement of gas density was proceeded by using CO tester (Carbon Monoxide Indicator) and SO$_2$ tester (Indicator Sampler Cgf) which could keep any specific density before each treatment.
