  • The wireless power transfer (WPT) charging system for AGV depends highly on the coupling conditions due to air gap variation. To attain stable output power with high transfer efficiency under various coupling conditions, a single-stage, DC-DC converter that operates with robustness to changes in air gaps is proposed for the WPT system. The proposed converter is capable of soft switching under the set input voltage (Vin: 380 VDC), load conditions (0-1 kW), and air gap changes (30-70 mm). In addition, a wide output voltage range (Vo: 39-54 VDC) can be controlled by varying the link voltage due to the phase control at a fixed switching frequency. Experimental results are verified using a prototype of a 1 kW wireless power charging system.

  • Recently, the traditional paradigm in railroad technology is changing as more efficient and cost-effective electric vehicle (EV) technologies have emerged. The original concept of PRT (Personal Rapid Transit) proposed in the past has come to be regarded as unrealistic, but its feasibility is improving through the utilization of an EV platform. In particular, battery-powered vehicles pose difficult technical challenges in attempts to achieve reliable and efficient operation. However, based on the inductive power transfer (IPT) technology, the fast charging of supercapacitors with high energy density can contribute to overcoming this technical challenge and promote the transition to electric-powered ground transportation by improving the appearance of cities. This study discusses the development process of a power supply system for PRT, including concept design, numerical analysis, and device manufacturing, along with performance predictions and evaluations. In terms of results, the system was found to meet the performance requirements for power supply modules on a test-bed.

The ringer's solution detection and transceiver consisted of the main control part, ringer's solution detection part, display and warning light part, wireless transceiver, and power supply part. The light receiving part of the ringer's solution detection part employed TSL260R-LF photodiode; light permeating part, Water-Clear type LED; and wireless transceiver part, the RF wireless data transceiver module, NR-FPCX. As a result of this Ringer's solution detector and transceiver design that can manage the patient efficiently, it was found that when the ringer's solution was detected by the double photodiode, the operating frequency was 11.95kHz; when it was not detected, the number was 9.6kHz. In the ringer's solution receiver, when the ringer's solution was detected, the number was 0. The corresponding unique RF code was displayed when not detected. The power used in the ringer's solution detection part was converted to the Sleep mode to operate under battery save mode. The ringer's solution transceiver can exchange wireless communication approximately within a 700m radius.

  • In this paper, we consider the secondary users (SUs) who are capable of harvesting energy from ambient radio frequency (RF) signals and are allowed to sequentially sense up to 2 different channels to find out idle channels not occupied by the primary users (PUs). The EH SUs are permitted to transmit data packets only if both idle channels and sufficient energy are available. Compared with traditional SUs, the EH SUs consume energy with data transmission and also harvest energy without additional energy supply. Consequently, the battery state is expected to be fluctuated due to energy consumption and harvesting, and therefore we develop a Markov battery model to provide energy variations at the 2-channel sensing EH SUs. With the proposed battery model, we derive the steady-state probability that the EH SUs completely run out of energy, and the achievable throughput of EH SUs is derived accordingly. To evaluate the proposed Markov battery model, the Monte-Carlo simulation was performed to validate the accuracy of energy outage probability and achievable throughput at the 2-channel sensing EH SUs.

  • It is necessary to develop small, implantable bio-telemetry systems which can measure and transmit patients' bio-signals from internal body to external receiver. When measuring bio-signals, like electrical bio-signals, acoustic bio-signal measurement has also a big clinical usefulness. But, sound signal has larger frequency bandwidth than any other bio-signals. When considering these issues, a wireless telemetry system which has rapid data transmission rate proportional to wide frequency bandwidth is necessary to be developed. The bluetooth module is used to overcome the data rate limitation caused by the large frequency bandwidth. In this paper, a novel multimedia bluetooth biotelemetry system was developed which consists of transmitter module located in the body and receiver device located outside of the body. The transmitter consists of microphone, bluetooth, and wireless charging device. And the receiver consists of bluetooth and codec system. The sound inside the skin is captured by microphone and sent to receiver by bluetooth while charging. The wireless charging system constantly supplies the electric power to the system. To verify the performance of the developed system, an in vitro experiment has been performed. The results show that the proposed biotelemetry system has ability to acquire the sound signals under the skin.
